Breeding foreign Modest Gooey Goomy with 31/x/31/31/31/x

with

my Modest Gooey Goomy with 31/x/x/31/31/31

I've never gotten eggs this fast. I better get some perfect ones too!

I feel like I'm missing out on so much because this is my first Pokemon since the R/B days.

Would it be worthwhile picking up a guide?

Hey, if you don't mind, I'd like this foreign Goomy after you finish breeding. :D

Maybe if you like guides, but not necessary. With us, the megathread on reddit, serebii, bulbapedia, etc. the internet has more than enough resources.

My advice: play through the campaign, beat E4, then go back and research breeding, EVs, IVs, etc. and enjoy the post game!

We got you covered; besides, Serebii's more trustworthy than most official guides, and that's probably an understatement.

I really appreciate being able to ask questions here, thanks folks.

Hey guys i'm trying to understand how to breed for IV.

They said that all non-egg group pokemons have 3 perfect IV, so each Dittos should have 3 perfect IV somewhere?

So when I go see the IV judge, most of the time they are above average and name one good stat. How can you determine which ones are good? With the IV calculator?

I'm a bit confused.

Ah too bad. :(
Yeah, pretty sure that's my baby he's using. <3

Do note that the game keeps track of your Pokemon's country, region, 3DS region, and language. So, they might have changed what Masuda Method uses. We don't know for sure. I'm from the US, though, so even if they changed it to use region it wouldn't help you if you're from the US.

So, I just traded a lvl 71 Umbreon for a Japanese Xerneas on GTS (used rare candies, thanks Global Link!). I reset its EV and these are its stats:

270 / 183 / 146 / 204 / 153 / 173, nature is +Speed / - Attack, Mischievous ("Le gusta hacer travesuras").

Is there a way to check its IVs? I used MetalKid's calculator and I got:

31 / 31 / 18 / 31 / 22-23 / 27-28

I think I asked this before, but it's abilities you can change, not natures, right? Also, is the nature any good for this Xerneas?

Give on Pokemon a Destiny Knot to hold. It makes five IVs from the parents guaranteed on the child. Play the RNG game until victory.

So keep egging until I hit big? Thanks!

IF you specifically want the speed, give the larvesta with 31 IV in speed the power item that affects speed, gained from the battle maison using BP.

That will ensure you get that stat, though it will still be RNG on getting both of the Sp. attack and defense from the other parent.
Oh ok, kinda don't like the random factor but it is what it is... Thanks!

I believe Metalkid is 100% correct for Xerneas/Yveltal

Timid isn't bad. Geomancy doubles your Speed, so you don't need the speed boost so much, but it's good if you don't want to rely on Geomancy.

So what's the best way to apply HM moves?

Not sure I want to burden my Frogadier with Surf indefinitely.

But I also like to have my full team with me, so having a random Pokemon that is only used for a HM isn't ideal.

I just looked this theory up now by seeing the video made by Marriland. I had heard about the strange souvenir and the backpacker but with the backstory, the berry issue and the lack of new Pokemon, it makes sense.
What video?

Also, I doubt it. Maybe in the form of X2&Y2, but not Z, and I doubt we'll get any new Pokemon till gen 7.

Thank you both. I guess I'll keep this Xerneas and trade mine for Yveltal or an Y-exclusive megastone.

Also, I've been searching online, and the ability changer not only costs 200PB, it also doesn't let you pick hidden abilities. It's a waste of time IMHO.

You bet. If you need help, dont be afraid to send me a PM for friend code. I am more than happy to trade if you want something.

As for Surf, I would teach it to Frogadier/Greninja, as it is a good move in itself. I am like you, I hate keeping a mon just for HMs, but sometimes a slave is necessary.

Fly and surf are the big ones I like to have on me at all times.

Surf isn't really a burden; it's the most powerful 100% accurate Water-type move. Waterfall is similar, but it runs off physical attack rather than special attack.

The only actually bad HM this gen is Cut (it's worse than Tackle now). Strength and Fly are usable, but there's a couple of situationally better options (Return if you've had the Pokémon for a while and Brave Bird if you don't mind recoil/Acrobatics if you don't need a hold item).

Rock Smash is also useful, but it's not actually a HM so you can learn/replace it whenever you want.

it's decent, +Sp. Atk would have been better though

Welp:

This was the 115th Froakie I bred with a Japanese father and local mother, Hasty, Protean, perfect HP, Att, SpD and Spe. This is the greatest game ever made.

Hydro Cannon/Blast Burn/Frenzy Plant

How recommendable are they?

They're ok if it's for strictly in game and you want a how powered move so you can just switch after but I wouldn't go near them for online and/or the Battle Maison. The 90% accuracy and low PP are also an issue. You can avoid using them easily.

I had a spotpass notification when I put in the cartridge earlier today; However, I can't find any indication ingame as to what the notification was for.

What should I be looking at/for?

Traded 10 semi-good Modest Goomys (3 perfect IVs) in Wondertrade and got.

Gastly, Ralts, Froakie, Furfou, Geodude, Pupitar, Hawlucha, Luvdisc, Pikachu and Tauros.

Nothing good other than Pupitar who I don't have in my version :( But boy is this addictive.

Was it finally confirmed what the creepy ghost-elevator-girl did?

Does she really take any shiny pokemon in your party, or was that some stupid rumour?

Wow, I caught 5 Togepi from the FS and all of them had three or more 31 IVs. I don't think I've ever caught a Pokemon with more than two before this. Weird.
