Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster - 12/26 Japanese release (for real this time)

Speaking personal music tastes here, I think I prefer the new version mostly because the background periodic rhythmic part of the original is mostly absent, which I never cared for much. (difficult to describe what I am referring to)

I know which part you mean, and that's my favorite part of the song. T_T

I see what he meant too and I LOVED that part :/
Good remix, but because of that I feel that something is lacking.

New track is better and it's really not THAT different. I thought they had, like, changed the original into dubstep or something, based on some of the responses here.

It's really not that bad. The only thing missing is that beat or whatever others have mentioned.
I prefer the original, too, but I'm sure I'll eventually like this theme just as much. Once they release the gorram game!

It seems Japanese composers always go for that "emotional" kick in the music, usually performed by strings.

I just don't think it was necessary for Besaid Island. It would have done nicely with a lively tune like the original. Maybe if this was similar to a sequel and there was a revisit or something then that would make sense for the new song. I just think the violin is overwrought in this instance.

Sure sounds nice, though.

Shit.

This is a nice version of the song, and it's not objectively horrible, but it *absolutely should not replace the original in-game*. Not the same mood whatsoever.

It would be nice if they gave the option to use the original soundtrack when playing the game. New version of the song feels a lot less, hm, upbeat?

I don't mind the remixes to be honest.

I just want the goddamned game already.

New screen of the games. They are at 650px × 366px resolution. Not sure if they are just downscaled or if they are Vita screens at sub-native res.

Faves look A LOT better. Thank Yevon.

Auron's character model is really really good.

Completely agree.

....
it doesn't, SE has just been super weird about posting full resolution screenshots for every single one of their games lately.

Square Enix is sort of notorious for releasing screens lower than the resolution they actually run at.

Thanks! That's good to know. Sadly many Vita games are sub-native resolution, so I thought this might be the case as well. Hopefully it is not.

Can you confirm the Vita versions are 960x544, Kagari?

Any weird compromises going on with the Vita versions?

I'd love to know this also Kagari. These games are huge, and even on separate Vita cards, the upgraded visuals and audio will take a lot of space. So, unless they are using 6 GB or 8 GB Vita cards (would be a first one for Vita), there must be a compromise somewhere.

I'd even go as far as to say healmost breaks the game for a while after getting him

You get her really late. Like late enough to where there's very little of the game to break, and you get the Magus sisters not long after and they're true game breakers.

True. I just remember getting really sick of watching my sister use nothing but Pain for hours on end

This is really looking good, they've put in a lot of effort clearly, which is why they kept it in house. It'd make my year if they announce a HD remake of FFXII too. Getting this for the Vita definitely, only X, not much interested in X-2.

I listened to the remastered Besaid theme. I love this version and the original equally. In my opinion, it feels like too much is going on in the remastered version, but those strings near the end make me love it. I love strings, they pull on my own heart strings.

The music on the official site reminds me of the official site of the original game. It was simpler but it had the music too, I believe.

God I love this game...even though it makes me cry buckets! I mean, I really have to be emotionally prepared to play this game again. Truly a timeless classic.
