God damnit, when the hell is this phone getting announced?

At this point they don't even need an event for it. Just be like "It exists, it looks like this, it's out on this day. Bye"

How fast did the Nexus 4 sell out last year?

I'm afraid that one of these days Google's just gonna say "Fuck it" and throw it up on the Play Store, and I won't know until 5 hours later when it's backordered until next year or something.

Fairly quick from what I remember. The 16gb version was the first to sell out. Tons of headaches trying to get the order through.

Depends on your definition of sell out.

The first shipment sold out in about 20 minutes or so, I think. It's hard to say, because the site was crashing throughout the entire day. It took me many, many repeated attempts to get my order confirmed.

They kept taking orders for hours, though, but those ended up backordered for a few weeks.

Eventually, they had to take the order button off the site entirely, and it didn't come back for a while.

The newest rumor is the 31st. Something about 4.4 being Kitkat and it being Halloween... seems like another unfounded rumor to me though.

31st has long since been the rumour before any other (including the chocolate = Halloween link)

White pretty much confirmed. November 1st.

So the KitKat-Halloween theory wasn't that much wrong after all.

Looks like I will be getting a G2 as my work phone and a N5 as my personal one. Actually it will be one for me and one for the wife. Seems the rumors are pointing to this week.

Does that remain release date is 11/1 or that's when we can expect the official announcement? I'm not sure I can afford this. I'm tempted to get a refurb Nexus 4 off eBay using Bill Me Later. ahh decisions. I really need a new phone

I'm not sure how i feel about the lack of distinction between the navbar and dock icons now. Seems a little busy at the bottom portion of the screen.

The nexus logo looks a hell of a lot less silly than the N4's horizontal one.

Yup the ordering process has been complete nightmares. I had to spend hours refreshing the website to get it to work.

1st is the release date, as in it's on sale.

Announcement could come any time before then. It will either be Monday or Thursday (for the Halloween tie-in).

2300mAh? :lol

Why do you keep laughing at this? When will people understand that a mere number does not necessarily equal to a good/bad battery life?
I'm not overly excited either, but there are things that need to be considered.
Take the iPhone. I don't know how, but people (a lot of people) claim to have zero problems in bringing the phone through a full day. Battery size (iPhone 5)? 1440mAh. What's the key? Software optimization.
Take the Moto X. Every single review I read/watched stated that battery life was outstanding, much better than the average 2013 high-end phone. Of course the X8 architecture and the 720p display helped a lot, but it's still a 2200mAh unit.
Now I'll take the One into consideration, given that it is my personal phone. It is a 4.7" 1080p display phone, and I have no problems in carrying it around all day with H+ always on (still no LTE in many cities here in Italy) and little to no WiFi at all. And I use my phone heavily. A lot of web browsing, videos (on WiFi), Twitter, Flipboard, Umano, Maps, Keep, Pocket, Dropbox, Whatsapp, Hangouts... these are apps that I use regularly everyday for several hours. Phone is off the charge at 7.45AM and goes back at about 9.30PM with ~10% left.
Now. KitKat has repeatedly been said to bring software improvements in order to get better battery life through more power efficient processes, and the Snapdragon 800 that the N5 has also have a sort of battery saver function - or so has Brian Klug said on the Note III's AnandTech review.

Should we really be worried? Unless you really need your phone to last longer than a full day, I don't think so.

It's either the Note II or the Note III. But several phones can get you through a full day now (see the LG G2, the Xperia Z1 or the Moto X).

how about couple of days ? :( i still use dumb phone and windows 710 which lasts at least 2 days. i do not use phone whole day just 1 hour in the evening of surfing if needed. barely any calls.

This will be my next phone unless there's something really wrong with it. Lost my Galaxy Nexus earlier this year, and have been borrowing an S3 since then. Not a big fan of it, but all least I've gotten rid of Samsung's awful customizations by flashing CyanogenMod on it.

I'll probably have to wait significantly longer and pay much more for it though, since Google doesn't sell devices on the Play Store here. We have to get our Nexus devices from regular retailers, at a much higher price.

Well a lot of people said that the Note II could bring them two days of moderate usage.
But what's the problem with plugging in the cable before going to sleep?

If you can't for whatever reason, bring with you an external portable battery charger and plug your phone, or just swap an external one if you have the chance to.
Don't be too tied to the battery as long as the phone (you want) can last a full day.

Maybe get a good samaritan Gaffer to get you one and ship it to you?

So if this launches of the 1st, does that mean 4.4 will be available for the other Nexus devices as well?

Edit: Available for other Nexus devices on the 1st, that is.
