Hey guys, I have a question. What's everyone's thoughts on Trevanant competitively? I'm looking for a Grass to complete a FWG core with Blaziken and Greninja and a spinblocker with a gimmick as fun sounding as smogon's proposed moveset with a Lum Berry sounds right up my alley:

Trevenant @ Lum Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SDef / 120 Spd
Careful Nature
- Wood Hammer / Horn Leech
- Shadow Claw
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest

I'm gonna be depressed if I put the work in and still can't do much though.
Let me know how it works out. I love Trevenant's design. Btw, I think Horn Leech would be preferable since I see you're aiming for longevity while Will-O-Wisp eats away at the enemy.

Dear Game Freak, a million thanks for GTS. I just got a female evee for a smeagle.

It may not luck like much, but god... it is so dificult to get a femalee evee by breeding with ditto or trying to catch it.

Smeagle, you say?

Ok so Im finally ready to EV train for the 1st time ever. All my pokemon have pokerus so does that mean everytime I KO a horde I'll receive 2 EVs from every pokemon instead of 1? Do I have this correct or no?

So after you find a stone, the stone guy gets in in stock? Or does he randomly circulate what he's selling?

I think they meant in RL. :/

Afaik there's no way to get a stone if it's been pitched/traded away aside from the generosity of others or a lucky wonder trade.

Also, grinding out BP for some power items to finally start ev training, and even on the 1st series of 20 (the easy one, I think?) I got rocked in the 17th round, lol.

Granted, I was lacking a lot of coverage by using 2 type moves on the main story team, but still, it's a bit rage-inducing to have a dynamic punch hit three times in a row and wipe me. My fault for bringing in two types with a weakness to fighting, I guess.

It depends on how many base points/EVs they give out.

Pokérus does double the amount of EVs gained, so you are correct in that if you faint Pokémon that usually yield 1 EV, they'll give you 2 if you have Pokérus.

Yeah, it doubles your growth rate. If you can get the corresponding power item to what you intend to develop you can get 50-60 EVs per horde

Pokerus doubles the overall amount of EV's from a battle.

((5 pokemon * 1 EV point) + (4 evs from power item * 5 pokemon)) * 2

For a horde that give 1 EV per pokemon that's 50 points in a stat per fight. Super Training feels like a week in comparison.

Revisiting Elite 4, you-know-who says this to me

Oh, I can't tell you how happy I am to meet you again...

I feel like my heart might just burst into flames.

I'm burning up with my hatred for you, runt!

She also says she won't kill you yet after you beat her. It doesn't really make any sense until you find out that
she was a member of Team Flare and she's the woman shown in the Holocaster, which Lysandre Labs made.

I have another question on the topic. Does EXP.share also share the EV among the pokemon, not just the exp?

I had no problem with a Latios, a Zapdos or a Cresselia in the Battle Institute, but a friggin' Wigglytuff sweeps my party in the Battle Maison.

I don't even

EDIT: Also what's the best place to level up? My level 37 Goomy is tough to level up, Victory Road really isn't that good. Is it the E4?

I was a bit bored so I went to the GTS to check some stuff. I went from 3 Vivillon patterns to 10 patterns in a matter of minutes. That was seriously unexpected. Could have been 13 if I didn't encounter the "Pokemon has already been traded" message on a few rare patterns.

I remember back in the day I had to play minigames for close to an hour to fully train my Pokemon. You horde babies don't know about that struggle #nostalgia #kidsthesedays

Battle Maison Sharpedo tears me apart lol. Ice Fang, Scald, Crunch, Speed Boost... I almost always get sweeped by them. :(

I leveled up my Gastly in the 3 star restaurant's triple battles from like 10 until 50. Give it a lucky egg and switch it out after the battle starts so it gets 100% exp.

Looks like a good set-up. Won't know until you play it, of course. I'm planning on having trevenant on my team. Thinking about...

-horn leech
-will-o-wisp
-destiny bond
-leech seed/ingrain

Not sure what berry I would use. How much do the health restoring berries restore? If it's a decent amount I might consider one of those. It would take a lot of prediction to use, and if a fire attack did hit it, it would be gone because it would be on a drought team. So it's risky, but I think it's interesting. Also, having a ghost tree on my team would just be cool.

Wait, a question about the Masuda Method.

If I breed two JPN parents in my game (US), do my chances of a shiny increase? Or am I better off sticking to a JPN + US parent scheme?

I'm actually Masuda breeding for a shiny version of these right now. I hope it ends up pretty well. I'm contemplating going for max DEF and Sp.D instead of HP, so that I can get more health out of Horn Leech. It's also pretty slow, so I won't be going for SPE. Maybe 252 ATK and the rest split between the defenses...

Ok right now Im training 3 pokemon for speed. If I KO a wingull horde I'll receive 10 EVs from the due to pokerus and 4 more due to the speed power weight yes?

So after 1 horde encounter my 3 pokemon should receive 14 EVs each?

That's a good idea. But doesn't it cost like 500k to enter? Because I'm strapped for cash rifght now :P Might do a few runs though the E4 to get some of it back

She's the holocaster news anchor?

While I'm not sure if it was ever outright said, her
Elite 4 art looks very similar to the Holo Caster anchor
.

On a side not, did anyone else think that
Sycamore's helpers (the ones with the masks) were actually in Team Flare? I kind of got that vibe when they were talking to Lysandre near the beginning of the game and that they acted very strange around the player sometimes.

gonna put my FC here for y'all safari blokes. I have a Grass safari with Quilladin, Swadloon, and Pansage.

FC is 1091 7736 4782

Finally bred a perfect Noibat! Only missing IV is attack, which it doesn't have any use for. Anyway I'll be hatching a few extra and giving them away, after all the kind people of this thread have given me plenty of free pokemon before.

The Noivern are all modest and most of them have the ability infiltrator. I think most of the new batches will have 4-5 perfect IVs. PM me if you want one, I'll give them out tomorrow. Gotta sleep now.

I think the best healing berry restores 30 HP? Might be different now, though.

100k at the start I think. I forget since I'm getting the lowest discount of 90k now.

You get a profit from the mushrooms you get so don't worry about cash.

Restaurant is 90k and if you can get close to the target rounds they set you can actually make money on each attempt.

As long as your Gliscor has very poor Attack, he will be safe from Klefki's Foul Play. Well, safer, anyways -- Klefki can still inflate anyone's Attack with Swagger, powering up his Foul Play while inflicting confusion.

Klefki could go first and sub and then Swagger. I guess Galv would eventually break all the subs if Thunder hits each time (he has an ability for that, doesn't he?). Klefki could then suicide Swagger. Personally, I'd switch before then.

Yeah compound eyes boosts Thunder Accuracy to 91%

Eh, may not be worth it then. But, if I have horn leech AND leech seed (or ingrain) then it might become worth it... Don't know. Guess I'll just have to make it and find out.

I have a jolly Deino with 4 perfect IVs if you're interested. Would love my hands on a noivern like that

So can someone explain something to me? I got into a random battle with someone online. All our pokemans were scaled to 50. Seemed fair. Then he proceeded to absolutely destroy me with one hit from a Lapras using Ice Beam. I mostly rock a water-based team, so I was curious how he could do so much damage. When I busted out Pikachu, my attacks only seemed to tickle him.

Am I missing something?

Any good Sylveon Movesets? I know Moonblast is a given.
Calm Mind + Draining Kiss is pretty great, though I only used it in-game it wrecked so many teams.

I tried all kinds of coverage attacks, didn't like any of them. Sylveon is better off sticking to Fairy type attacks, I think.

Rest with the Lum Berry is pretty legit, especially if you have Harvest to get another berry.

Sitrus Berry is 25% of your HP now (up from 30 HP in gen 3), it's good in VGC formats

There's nothing impressive about people who just roll with the most tried-and-true Pokémon, so I have nothing but respect and admiration for anyone rocking a Treverant. It's such a cool concept and awesome-looking Pokémon, and it looks like it has potential. It just needs to be supported correctly and played the right way. :)
