Man, I fought a Cofagrigus in the Battle Maison and I fell in love with his incredible design all over again. I want to figure out how to make that thing viable!
Cofagrigus is one of my favorites. I actually MM'ed a shiny one in White and it is GLORIOUS! Can't wait to see him in 3D

Can anyone recommend something that can take some hits and does good damage? These speed boost goons are annoying as hell

Thinking Goodra or Dragonite

Anything with priority. Blaziken killed by Aqua Jet Scolipede has terrible defenses so it'll get killed with mostly anything.

+1 prio BraveBird works too

you know who counters speed boost users?
Talonflame :P
Talonflame has a somewhat mediocre pool IMO.
It shits on bug & grass and that's about it. Probably wouldn't be able to take out a Tentacruel to save it's life.

Gale Wings is a good ability but it outspeeds a lot of flying-weak pokemon anyway so you need maximum attack investment if you hope to OHKO anything that you wouldn't normally outspeed.

I'm probably overthinking it though and the above might be somewhat bullshit. I'm just tired by this point and should really just do my work.

OH MAN! Shiny Cofagrigus is SO COOL!

*collects himself*

Seriously, that's awesome. And actually, revisiting his stats, he has extremely solid defenses -- base 145 Defense and base 105 Sp. Defense. Sp. Attack is base 95. Speed is extremely slow at base 30. A Trick Room set? Substitute/Will-o-Wisp set? And what's the best way to abuse his Mummy ability (nullifies enemy's ability if they make direct contact)?

Not seriously looking into him... yet... but I am curious about his potential as part of a team. He's just so cool!

It doesn't sound good with my current team build, though. rest seems like a wasted move slot with so many other health restoring options that also damage at the same time. Plus I really want will-o-wisp and destiny bond.
Without Rest or the berry though, you're really open for status conditions. That being said, Leech Seed + Horn Leech + Will-O-Wisp seems like a pretty efficient way to gain HP while crippling your opponent. I'm just afraid that it wouldn't heal fast enough.

just because Flare Blitz+Brave Bird is predictable doesn't make it bad
otherwise we should send Blaziken down the tiers for running only Flare Blitz+Hi Jump Kick 99% of the time

Are there any new berries available in the game besides the Roseli Berry? I know there's 14 that are currently locked off until XY2/RSE remakes or whatever but is that the only one so far?

While farming for Dittos in the Safari, I caught a shiny Aipom with a Jolly nature and perfect Attack and Speed. :D This thing could be used competitively.

Too bad I don't like the Pokemon, lol.

I think winning with a UU/RU/NU team using unconventional tactics is more a sign of skill than steamrolling people with an OU team you stole from smogon, and it makes you a joy to fight besides. But that's just me.

some people also respect those who play low tiers in Street Fighter or Marvel or whatever more
who cares?

I just like playing with favorites. Problem is, most of my favorites have been monsters or staple crops in past generations. :lol

It's really just this gen where I'm trying to be more competitive and wondering how its done at every step of the way.

Hey, no one's stopping you from using Pokémon that take the least skill and strategy to win with them. We're just saying what we find impressive.

I use a mix of popular and not-so-popular Pokémon. I play with the designs I like and where I can figure out some sort of synergy with ability, set, team, etc.

I always admire people, though, who do well with the team members that common wisdom says aren't so hot.

this discussion is quickly approaching the point where I copy and paste stuff from Sirlin about scrubs and "fairness"

With a choice band and adamant nature he is really scary though.

Hey, Garchomp was one of my favorite from Gen IV. ;) I didn't give a shit when he arbitrarily became uber, same as I wouldn't give a shit if he somehow became less viable. He's a badass. All that counts to me.

Can someone help me out with a decent team line up? I'm struggling to work out a good balanced team. At the minute both current and hopeful picks:

Current: Alakazam ; Timid (Not EV'd)
Twisted Spoon

-Dazzling Gleam
-Recover
-Calm Mind
-Psychic

Anyone? :/

Also, someone linked a team calculator thing that told you what types you wer effective against and were lacking but I can't find it now, does anyone know what I mean?

There's nothing to debate, good sir. It should be obvious why one approach is impressive and the other is not. Didn't mean to strike a nerve!

Lol, it's not really surprising why discrediting people who do well because they use good [insert thing the game gives you here] would strike a nerve. You might as well use less powerful moves and bad IVs to nerf yourself even more.

Why do I feel that the game knows that I want t evolve my Sliggoo? It was raining EVERYWHERE before, but now I can't find a single raindrop

Feels like it's that way for everyone. Same shit happened to me too :(

Like this?

http://www.marriland.com/tools/team-builder

Keep in mind that it's not 100% complete yet. The National Dex doesn't show the Unova Pokemon and you have to search through the different regional dexes to find them. Also, some type retcons haven't been put in yet.

I'm a Blaziken fan, have had a Jolteon in every generation of Pokemon I've played and Greninja was what completely sold me on Froakie, then I was introduced to Protean... I also have massive love for Hydreigon, Volcarona, Jellicent, Eelektross and Ferrothorn. 5th gen too stronk.

Possible, and if it doesn't work out I can always just switch its moves and item. Worth a shot.

Gen V was amazing. I'm not sure I like how they depict Eelektross in XY, though. His 3D model is always flying forward -- I prefer how he looks when he's "standing."

Volcarona is one of my favorite Pokémon. Definitely a powerhouse, albeit super-vulnerable to Stealth Rock. One of my favorite OU Pokémon.

So I was tinkering around the idea of creating an on-line battle team and so far I have;

Dragonnite: Marvel Scale
Azumarill: Hugh Power
Claydol
Blaziken: Speed Boost
Jolteon
Klefki

Is this line up solid or not?

She also says she won't kill you yet after you beat her. It doesn't really make any sense until you find out that
she was a member of Team Flare and she's the woman shown in the Holocaster, which Lysandre Labs made.

It's such a shame that
Malva
isn't fully fleshed out.

On a side not, did anyone else think that
Sycamore's helpers (the ones with the masks) were actually in Team Flare? I kind of got that vibe when they were talking to Lysandre near the beginning of the game and that they acted very strange around the player sometimes.

I don't think that Sycamore's helpers were a part of Team Flare, they were just idiot and very annoying.

Where was it found that Whimsicott was Fairy? I'm assuming it was the Battle Maison seeing as that's how Aurorus was found to have Snow Warning.

Yeah, I've never seen an Eelektross in the maison, but a ton of Eelektriks.

*brofist*

Thanks to MicH I was able to breed a perfect Togepi on my first hatch! ...and then got another one on my second hatch :o

Man, that has to feel good lol. I haven't been breeding lately (just evolving stuff for the dex) but I've been putting up my early Marill batches for Togepis on GTS. I figure either 1.They'll be from friend safari and have three perfect IVs, or 2.They'll be extras from people breeding and probably have a couple good IVs anyway ;) The only annoying part will be evolving them to breed I suppose.

I can give you the second 5 IV one I got if you want, he has Hustle and not Serene Grace, but I can also give you a female Togetic with 3 perfect IVs and Serene Grace, should be pretty easy to breed. Both have Nasty Plot and are Modest.

Or I can pass the parents that MicH gave me to breed with onto you, that way you don't have to bother with evolving Togepi.

EV training with hordes + power item + pokérus is so fast. So, so fast <3 never again will I do Super Training. Fuck that balloon bursting animation. It takes ages.
