Battlefield 4 PC performance thread

Constant crashes in single player, multiplayer is smooth as butter.

7970
16 gig ram
i7 3770k
Newest beta drivers
Window 8.1

no overclock

i5-2500k
7950
8gb ram
SSD
Win8.1

Game runs extremely smooth, with mixture of high and max settings, pretty steady at 60fps. Looks great to boot.

i5 @ 4.4, GTX 670, 8GB, W7

Getting anywhere from 25-80fps @ 1080p with everything on Ultra except for Effects, which is on Medium. HBAO, Post AA High, MSAA 2x. On some maps it averages 40 and under. I wish it was higher, half the maps are unplayable at these settings. Anyone else with a 670 to compare?

I can't even get passed the start screen. I don't know if this would be the right place to ask but I can not update my drivers without getting a BOSD. I have and AMD 7870 and everything was fine(beta ran on ultra at around 40-50fps) until I upgraded to 8.1. CCC immediately broke after and every driver past 13.4 is crashing my PC. I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated

Its one user. It might be a completely isolated issue. I'd try it out for yourself before scaring yourself off just because of that one post. I have not gotten any BSOD.

There are always users who report BSODs after each new driver release. Nothing to worry about.
I think it's worth pointing out this sort of stuff almost always seems to happen with 500 cards, and disabling hardware acceleration for browsers may well be the fix given I'm up to date now when I wasn't for quite awhile. So if you want to be safe just do that since it's what's causing issues for some of us.

On that note, I'm curious to hear if it does OK on 560 Tis now or not, the beta was stutter hell.

Game is running like a dream with everything maxed out except my Asus GTX670 SLI are running hot, respectively 80°C and 74°C, that's way too much for my liking.
Anyone else in the same case?

I just played a bit in the "Test Range" and I'm having an issue where the textures on all destructible objects are flickering in rainbow colors. This is on a GTX 680 and i7 920 (Windows 7). I haven't tried rebooting yet. It's late so I'm heading to bed for now. Other than the weird texture issue the game seems to be performing great.

My 7970 was hitting 82 C, never seen it run that hot.

Any difference in 8 vs 8.1 performance wise. Also lol and the i7 justification. Whoever that is didnt realise bf3 was the same. Justifying your purchase with bf4 using HT is weird. Plus that cpu bottlebeck can be removed easily just like in bf3 by OCing

Yeah it's bothering me to be honest. I just cleaned the whole pc, wasn't so much dust since I do it regularly, nah, I guess it's just this game that's pushing the cards so hard.

Might disable my second monitor while playing. 2nd monitor always makes my card run a few degrees hotter.

GTX 780, i7 920 @ 3.8, 6gb ram, SSD. Getting 80-100ish FPS with all settings Ultra, 4x AA, and 90 FOV. Only problem I'm having is that my game is crashing a lot (ctd with bf4.exe error), about once every 30-60 minutes.

I had this problem with a 670. The latest drivers fixed it.

Newest drivers? New one released today. What windows version. If youve done those try disabling HT

I'm getting massively better performance than I did in the beta.

i7-3770
16GB DDR3
GTX 660Ti

Running everything on Ultra with a few things turned down to High (lighting quality and textures, although that last one is mostly just to cut down on load times). No deferred AA, mind. Getting a pretty consistent 40-60fps in MP.

Windows Version?

it's crazy to hear people getting 60fps with GPUs with about 25% faster than the PS4's GPU while pushing 25% more pixels. i knew console optimisation would be mitigated at first, but this is almost parity.

i sorta doubt consoles are running anything on ultra, either.

PS4 is 60 fps to mate.
Launch titles are hardly worth judging. Lets not start a pc vs console debate

who's debating?

it just goes to show how the benefits of optimisation are being shared around now that everyone is largely playing by the same rules.

Actually, I forgot how assy post process AA looked in BF, so I compromised and went to 4x AA and everything on high. Still runs great.

That's definitely the case for me. Beta was shit.

Thank God. My 2500k, 6970, 8GB RAM didn't do as well as I had hoped in the beta (I didn't expect a complete build anyway but it was bad enough to cause doubt) so I've been curious as to how it would run now considering all I wanted was 1080p 60FPS at a mix settings that would look better than the PS4 version.

It's about what I expected. Over time consoles will be able to take advantage of some optimizations to achieve better performance but anyone who thought that they would be 2-3 times faster than the same PC components was kidding himself.
