This also stood out to me:
I don't get the outcry here. You sign up to the service, pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee and you're instantly able to listen to music ... for free. It's just like free games on PS+.
Whooaaa. Just wondering out loud. I'm sorry my goddess. If have offended you in anyway. Please continue right along.Touchy.
I play music through my speakers and listen to the game through my TV.
I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you, your highness, but i was just stating what works for me. Now off you go to your ivory tower.
Can it even play MP4's and avi's?
That is nuts..
MS: "Want unlimited access to all the music you love?"
me: Yes!
MS "Pay us 10 bucks a month for access!"
me: FUCK YOU

Like many things on PS3, definitely. Just trying to point out that this is a capability that people did make use of in gaming. To be fair, custom soundtrack on the PS3 were at the behest of the developer. They weren't system wide like the 360.

If I wanted to play music in my living room, I'd use my 6 thousand other peripherals that do it...
@majornelson: One more thing: Seeing some questions re: Xbox One & support for CDs, MP3, DNLA etc. I'll track those answers down.
Well they are hiding it behind a paywall. ..
Aside from that, there were those who were saying the outrage was useless and would fall upon deaf ears, we see how that went.
Moral of the story? Don't be a defeatist ass apologist.

You can't use your own music unless you have an Xbox Music pass. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/music/music-pass
You're wrong for listening to him. He's wrong. Music pass is only one of the ways they stated you could listen to music.
So three new troubling finds:
- No DLNA
- No MP3 (force Music Unlimited Sub for custom soundtracks)
- Smaller physical size than expected for HDD
Only the HDD part personally concerns me, but the other two stand out more as obvious glaring omissions.
Make your voices heard, @yosp is there.

Still do.

I think that we are creating the idea that they are not going to build a media player of any kind. But, in the absence of a statement otherwise why not assume the worst?

That's not surprising actually. Maybe they don't want to go through the headache of royalty fees when they can use their already established networks and music catalogs and make us pay for that.
Yeah major is going to go get answers on "DNla"
To chubigans. He's wrong about needing a music pass to listen to music. According to Albert, and MS at gamescom you can apparently stream your own music(I'd guess from a Win8 or 8.1 only PC) too. Wait for Larry to confirm before you believe anything either way though.
