Well if it wasn't obvious before it is extra obvious now.

So its a bullshit restriction to push an additional subscription service, and has nothing to do with launch priorities and timetables. Exactly how it appeared. The tweet changes nothing.

I don't think anyone said it did *change* anything, but it shows they've acknowledged it and my possibly change their minds on it.

I know people don't like this but it's still true. It interesting that Sony/Yoshida has the benefit of the doubt and MS doesn't. If Pennello said that there would be even more rage.
Here's why...

Does your console have this feature?

Sony: No

Microsoft: I can assure you that you'll be blown away playing our exclusive games!

Major nelson said he's going to check into it, so we'll know one way or another soon.

lol.. I can see it now

"XBONE will have MP3 playback at launch! Of course!!"

runs to day one patch developers "ok guys, what are the chances of you having this implemented in the next three weeks...?"

My PS3 is used so much for media features that PS4 is a step back. When the family is round, it's perfect for viewing photos. For listening to music, it's fantastic (going via my Yamaha A3010 AVR), for video content it's superb (via DLNA).

I even have 2 other PS3s in other rooms in the house, solely acting as media players.

Sony. Wtf???

How can sony fanboys pretend this isn't the same type of bs they were jumping all over ms for? I'm not an ms fan by any means, but damn this is as biased as it gets.

Comparing this to having required internet, disc verifications, etc, etc......that's a little overboard.

As I said earlier, these are all things that could be updated through software at a later date (if they so choose, not saying they will), just as MS has changed their stance on the far more reaching policies. Not being able to stream music from your computer to PS4 is not a consumer breaking feature such as the ones I listed above.

exactly. no beating around the bush. a yes or no question begets a yes or no answer, not some long-winded explanation about how the console is "so awesome".

They acknowledged it in the FAQ as well. It's not like no one knew and theyve just woken up to the fact.

They acknowledge that a lot of people have complained about it and want it in there and said they'd look into it? I must've missed that part.

Yes, there's no way DLNA would trend worldwide. The vast majority of PS3/360 users didn't even know the feature existed on their consoles.

This is the confusing part to me. The exclusion of MP3 and DNLA, isn't going to force the average someone into a paid service because they were never using them anyway. This really only serves to piss off they more techy fans of the console, and as you can see, no of us are frothing at the mouth to go by MU now,

It's the furthest thing from it... they would've already done it if they wanted to, but it gives them a shot to sell more stuff so they're doing it the bullshit way, same way they do it with their memory sticks on vita, all those hidden fees.

I don't think so frankly. This is not mandatory hardware like vita's memory. I'm confident they'll adapt because they must. mp3/avi? I can even plug an usb in my tv and play it without any other device. This is in fact too ridiculous.

Ok Shu, thanks for listening, but the dev team needs to put it into action ASAP, and not in 4 months.

It's not a big deal for me, but it is something that should have been there from the start.

When yosh says he will share the feedback for future consideration does he mean ps5 lol.

Very upsetting news non the less, easily a deal breaker for many people. I'm guessing even if they put it in they will wait to see how many subscribe to unlimited music and video before announcing anything.

It's not surprising. MS have been getting beat up the last few days (and months really) over all of their fuck ups that when something negative comes out about Sony, people want to blow it up to the same level when it is nowhere near. Is Sony trying to push people into MU shitty? Damn right it is. Is this the deal-breaker people want it to be? It really isn't no matter how much whining happens.

no mp3's is Nintendo level.. remember when Nintendo took out mp3 playback from the Wii in an update?

I didn't feel like the PS3 was that great of a media center anyway... but I still think that's a garbage move for Sony to pull.

I am certain that they will add this in at some point in one of their system updates after launch, especially now that Yoshida has mentioned that he will discuss it with his team.

whoa whoa whoa... MP3 and such is pretty bad to be missing.. definitely.

Lack of CD? No way.

a) CD is a license that has to be paid for (well, half of one. To Philips)
b) CD sales have been double digit declining YoY for years now.
c) the folks still buying CDs are generally NOT the same folks buying high end electronics

Lack of CD is akin to lack of analog audio/video. Are they losing customers over it? Probably very few if any at all. At the same time all of those things are lowering costs.

I think you missed the gist of my post.

Actually, I'm sure you did.

Are users able to record, distribute or stream any gameplay video?
No. Users may not be able to record certain areas within the game. Developers can select the area of restriction, and what will be restricted will depend on game titles. In these cases, recording will be temporarily suspended during the scene.

Sony has been on top of everything this coming gen, but lately they are slipping up on some minor stuff that is annoying me.

This is utter bullshit, this is what I hate with todays fucking media and makes me want a hack that lets me do what ever I want with my game. Cant wait till someone hack both consoles so we can do whatever we want with it.

Hope they add these features to the console. But for me, I would just use if I can listen them while playing games... what means Ill not use it a lot, once when I play games I usually like to raise up the volume, close the windows, and let the game sound and image do their job by itself! =P

"Thank you" for acknowledging the complaints and suggesting it to the development team :s Not "OMG FANK U DIS IS IT WE R SAVD, FANKS FOR PUTIN THIS IN DA PS4"
I don't even...

Listen, I was really hoping that this was all a big misunderstanding and the PS4 was only missing this functionality *for launch* and was always in the cards. Yosp's tweet just confirms that was never the plan and there was no misunderstanding.

That's actually horrible news.

Incredibly Naive

Sony makes a video titled "how to lend games on ps4" obvious stab at microsoft over DRM.

If I was msft I would make a video titled "how to listen to music on xbone" and show them inserting a damn cd in the fucking console.

People were pissed netflix is behind a paywall on xbone... well netflix isn't on ps4, but LISTENING TO MUSIC is.

By saying "at the launch" he is sort of confirming that it was likely going to be patched in.

And by saying he'll "Share it with the dev team for future considerations" he's sort of confirming that it wasn't already going to be patched in until people freaked the fuck out.
