Has Sony dropped the ball with no showpiece fighter available at launch?

Anyone else feel Sony really dropped the ball with no showpiece fighter being available at launch? Fighters have been a console debut staple it seems for the past few gens and for good reason; they can easily set the early bar for how pretty your console can make things look. I think one thing ms has done right since they've been in the game is having a graphical showpiece fighter available day one or at least very soon after release. Going back to psx it seemed like a good practice. Unfortunate Sony doesn't see the use in having a beautiful pick up and play versus showpiece.

Isn't Injustice a launch game?

What fighters does Sony have (that aren't multiplatform)?

Tekken Tag was a good launch game but the series has gone multiplatform since then.

Fighters have become more of a niche genre than they once were, so I don't think it's a dealbreaker if a launch lineup doesn't have one.

It is disappointing we still haven't even heard about Tekken 7, VF6, or SC6. But it's not like Xbone has anything to offer either. Not a fan of Kinect or 6-character games

I don't care about fighters at all so I don't think so. Fighters haven't really been a way to showcase systems for awhile either...

A staple at launch for who, exactly? The PS3 and 360 did not have a fighter, the Wii U did not have a fighter (yes it did), the Wii did not have a fighter... In fact, while I'm sure they weren't the only ones, the only consoles I remember actually launching with a memorable fighter were the PSX, Saturn, PS2 and Dreamcast.

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to imply by dropping the ball, but things seemed to work out pretty well for every other console that didn't launch with a fighter.

lol the hype for KI too stronk. can't wait for the disappointment and the mob of launch day owners dropping that game quicker than they drop their easy-ass combos on said game.

Uhhh. So we're just finding random stuff and adding "Did X drop the ball when Y"?

I hardly think the general consumer cares that much about fighters.

Since when did the big three start using FIGHTERS of all genres to showcase their console?

O.o

Since every generation before this one?

SoulCalibur (DC)
TTT1 (PS2)
DoA3 (Xbox)
DoA4 (360)

Tekken has always been heavily featured in Sony's CG "target renderings."

:P

Although I would have liked to have seen a proper Mortal Kombat or Tekken 7, Injustice will do to fill in the gap, at least for me.
