I.. don't see the issue, they are obviously fans, aren't they? or are they mocking them in any way? I'm not very familiar with those two.

God damn GAF really does have a defense force for everything huh? False equivalences up the ying yang in this thread :(

Anyway, terrible people are terrible but its seems they got what they deserved assuming some of the follow ups are true. Every time I think we've moved forward as a nation I get near daily reminders like this that there is still a shit load of work to be done. I still have plenty of decades left in me but I know I'll never live to see this issue resolved and that's depressing :(

Nobody wants their company to be associated with racists pieces of shit.

Agreed, but unless they act like that on the job they should have no right to fire or even hire based on something they read on facebook. I'm not okay with the employers basing their decisions to hire/fire based on facebook, even when the people are pieces of shit in their personal lives.

I suppose that employee wasn't integral enough to the company to make up for the bad PR the company is getting or will get by employing her.

It's past Facebook at this point.

So she posted a pic of herself with two racist cuntbags yet she gets fired? I don't agree with that. Many people post sketchy shit yet there are rarely consequences.

I guess she just had bad luck.

I know it has been covered, but you really should check out the thread before posting a wtf response. She is clearly a racist piece of shit.

You misinterpret me, I'm more concerned with the tactics and the aim of ruining their lives. I would totally support re-education attempts in a myriad of ways, but I don't see the satisfaction in these vigilante social media campaigns. What does it achieve? A whole bunch of pissed off people who need vengeance, humiliated victims and perpetrators, then everyone fucks off until we do it all again, leaving fractured families, people jobless, worsened race relations, and a increasingly tense society. America's outlawed murder for hundreds if years and you still gun each other down like it's a national sport. Seems to me that this vigilante thing doesn't ever achieve anything.

These adults made something like this and put it out and made it public. No one made them dress up, no one made them pose for the picture, and no one made them post it in public. Since when are people not responsible for doing something horrible in full view of everyone?

Photoshopping a picture of someone dressing up in an offensive Halloween costume and then using that to fuck up their life is not the same thing as just pointing out what they intentionally put out there. They aren't being victimized, people are just saying "look over here at this thing this person did of their own volition."

We need to get the guy that made the top comment to post here:

Marcus Ferrell
wow it is a lot of messed up posts on this thread. When did George become the white man's hero? When EVER is it cool to paint yourself up in black face.

I get it....you guys are the folks who want your country back. So when you are not busy shutting the government down because you don't get your way, you are busy being trolling racists who support complete ignorance.

Here is what's going to happen: Immigration reform will happen, and then your dwindling voices will become even weaker. your kids will date black and Latino kids because they hate your ignorance and they use that computer box you use to communicate and learn not spew ignorance.

you will never get your country back. you will see another black president. Matter of fact, you will see a Latino president.

May your worst nightmares come true.
Pure ether.

This is their education, although I doubt they'll see it that way.

hahahaha, thats great!

Yes, yes I do. Admittedly, the costume could be considered to be in 'bad taste' by some, and thats understandable. However, I find it hilarious that a simple Halloween costume can spark such controversy and get people so riled up. The racism card is so overplayed these days, and I think its fabulous that this costume has gotten people so upset.

The majority of protestors in this thread are framing themselves to be some kind
of self appointed racial freedom fighters who cry tears of injustice because of a Halloween costume that was done in poor taste. It's my opinion, that senseless debates such as this one do absolutely nothing to help advance the ideal of racial equality and only serve to highlight the pettiness of society.

I doubt that you have any interested in racial equality if your first viceral response to this is "haha this is great".

I guess you don't know labor law then. Most states are at-will employment, meaning employers can fire you without just cause or any warning unless you have a union.

Personal life and work life are two different things. If they weren't being assholes at work i would not fire them.

No, it's not justified. This does not involve their work life.

I'm pretty sure this has been responded to, but I'm just going to chime in because people seem to keep making this claim, and it's getting tired.

When I was hired for a shitty customer service call center job, I was told that I'm a representative of the company even when I'm not on company time. The example used was someone who caused a bar fight, and got arrested. This person was then written about in the local newspaper. The reporter also noted where this person was employed. This got back to the company, and they were promptly fired, because...

...

THE EMPLOYEE'S ACTIONS MADE THE COMPANY LOOK BAD.

Once again, NO COMPANY wants to be associated with the actions of assbags like these. If you're so concerned with the consequences of your actions possibly effecting your employment, don't do stupid shit that can jeopardize it and post it on fucking Facebook.

Jesus.

I would say I'm surprised that there are people defending this scum, but I'm not. Every goddamned time.

THey actually do. And if someone is a piece of shit in their personal life, would you want to run the risk that they inevitably act like a piece of shit in their public life? If people are racist sacks of shit, as an employer, do you want to be on the hook for a racial discrimination lawsuit against your company when these idiots say or do something stupid towards a person of color in the workplace?

This is really stupid for an ad agency to post, but it isn't necessarily racist. They aren't wearing the historically offensive "blackface", they made themselves look brown to look like Pac and Biggie. The pic in the OP looked like it was trying deliberately to be offensive.

I admit to laughing at this. At least the responses were sane in this case

Deliberately or not blackface is really really fucking offensive to some. Now, if one doesn't give a shit if it offends then they should be up front about that.

But at the same time they shouldn't pout when the inevitable backlash comes their way.

Public shaming is all the education they need. If this doesn't change their perspective on race and what they did, then nothing will. If you post something online, you better be ready for it to come flying back in your face. And you better be ready for the consequences.

Losing employment over stupidity is just the price you pay for stupidity. Don't think everyone is going to react the same way to your jokes. That's not how it works. I've been told before that some of my posts have been offensive, and I don't care. I'm ready and willing to defend what I say, and own up to any consequences. I can only assume this trio of idiots are the same, otherwise they should never have made such dumb posts.

Don't blame the public for reacting to something public. It is what it is. Even if your account is private, someone you think is a friend could publicly post what you say or do. That's how it is. I never cross any lines that'll ever cost me a job or end in my public shaming. And if they had a valid justification for their actions, they wouldn't have responded with them already. Exercise some common sense and you won't get called out.

Anyway, public shaming is probably not the worst thing that could've happened to them. They really coulda caught a root down for acting the fool. They should consider this getting off light and maybe learn their lesson and change their perspectives on race. PEACE.

Sorry, I just wanted to preserve the moment of a comment having 666 likes.
That made me get misty-eyed. Their costume really didn't deserve such a thoughtful response, but you could tell the guy was working through some tough feelings, writing that. And that's just one reason why you don't post racist bullshit on Facebook -- because beautiful people like this man get their feelings hurt.

Ugh.

Valnen, its called being held responsible for your actions, which is something a lot of people in this country don't understand.

If she doesn't post this on Facebook, she still has her job, Facebook page and isn't being blasted online like she is.

It's not illegal to be a racist, but that doesn't absolve said person of the consequences of those beliefs.

The fact that people think acting the fool like this wont have public consequences is part of the problem. Helps make people think their bullshit is ok.

In glad when employers or general public create life changing backlash. Simple education that the public isn't down with your bullshit

This thread seriously ... you have absolutely no right to not be offended. This group is not going out and hurting anyone or anything by wearing a costume like this. First Amendment etc etc. But if they want to wear stupid clothes to a stupid holiday they are more than entitled to. If they want to offend people around them, that is their American god damn given right to do that.

What the shit, like seriously, what in the hell, do you think we're 5 or something? That we dont know what we're seeing?

What's with the sudden increase in people thinking it's completely fine to use blackface for Halloween, let alone a murder victim?

This is a couple of shades lighter than Trayvon and some Gaffers can laugh at it. It's also supposed to based on fictional entities known as entertainers so their not real people so it shouldn't be as offensive.

The Actor/Singer/Dancer lady was a few more shades lighter than even this and is also attractive plus its Halloween. He's also entertainer imitating another entertainer so double not-real so that like negates everything right? Totally not offensive.

A coworker told me about this. She's religious and gets worked up by a lot of shit. I shrugged it off as nothing, as usual. I haven't seen anything until this thread.

Damn.

Yeah.... that's not good at all. Poor pooooor taste and incredibly racist ass shit. A kid fucking died. It's a little too soon for this. But hey, assholes are gonna do assholish things. The best you can do is not give them the attention they want and give them the satisfaction of your reaction.

Nothing really phases me any more. Nothing offends me really. But yeah, this isn't cool.

I can't stand people who dress up in costumes trying to be edgy. They are just being really fucking offensive, it is not even remotely funny.

I'm sure most people wont agree, but I think this campaign against racism causes more issues than genuine racists do. I live in Alabama. We still have the klan around here.... I see black people making a living, going through college, and getting good jobs everyday. There are a bunch of scholarships and aide for black people and jobs to be had. I honestly believe success is a choice now. I see white people fuck up their life by making bad choices, and I see black people doing the same. I watch whites and blacks create a good life based on their choices.

As far as the social media "attacks".... just like every other social media outbursts. Shit will be forgotten in a month or when something else stupid occurs. We live in a country where people "liking a FB picture" is going to change the world.

And yes the costume is disgusting. It has nothing to do with race. Forget the fucking racism part. A kid was killed and people are dressing up as him. That'sissue in my book.

Yeah, and where's our white history month while we're at it

Yeah, racism in the workplace and education is over, sexism is over too.

Let me guess, you think the NAACP is a hate group.
