So Orange is gonna continue? I think I remember some people on here reading and liking it.
I've been reading Dreamin' Sun of the same author and liking it a lot, so it makes me happy to know she's no longer going to stop making manga.

Edit:

And my porn cravings get fulfilled by more announcements!
Amatarou's Flower and Eights Enomoto's Yanagida-kun to Mizuno-san got announced in Italy, which is great especially for the second one, since the English version I have only covers the first volume.
Also Milk Morinaga's Girl Friends got announced too, and I'll double dip on that as well.

OMG even Shintaro Kago's Fraction is going to release here. It'll be mine.

Hmmm

Children Can't Choose Their Parents

... This is satire right? This reads like something Trey Parker would write when he's not doing South Park.

2fast4me
I wish I could marathon it.
Hah, for me marathon means reading something in one or two sittings.

Do you feel like you've become a better human being after reading that?
With that ending I choose to believe it's meant to be a parody or something. It do reminds me of the fact that I usually don't remember oneshots at all short after I've read them, they're just too short for me to really care about I guess :\

Also I read Apocalypse no Toride & Clover, both of which I enjoyed any other mature/seinen mangas worth reading that are within a similar vein to them?

7 Seeds is the best.

Worst Mangas

Gantz
Aku No Hana
Cage of Eden
Pastel
Nana To Kaoru Black

Manga that is so terrible that it achieved transcendence and elevated to godhood.

Fourteen

I think I get too distracted to read a lot at a time. I mean, I could have read a bunch of volumes of X/1999 in the past couple hours tonight, but instead I keep talking to people like you bunch of time stealers.

I hardly remember one shots, either...

Manga writers in general must be bloody awful if you have to be told that the one-shot is parody and a half.

I'm pretty much the opposite. If there's a work I really get into I usually pull all-nighters to read it.

I believe that I've read all of glass mask and 7 seeds in one sitting when I first read them.

I envy your dedication. I'm always multitasking, and this has led to some pretty bad concentration. I'll just smoke some crack, and then read manga all night. Or, will I be more easily distracted in that state?
Unsure-Larry-David.gif

Tough choices.

So how about we list some of the most memorable oneshots we're read. I will report back after I've checked my list.

Worst five finished
Gantz
Usagi Drop*
Cage of Eden*
Air Gear
To Love Ru
*Actually liked but the last arc and ending soured it all up

Worst five dropped/ still reads for some reason :(
Fairy Tail (dropped)
Good Ending (dropped)
Freezing (dropped)
Super Interesting Darkness (dunno why I read the sequel since I didn't like the first one :<)
Nisekoi

Just the worst thing I've read yet finished:
Wolf Guy
Aki Sora

So how about we list some of the most memorable oneshots we're read. I will report back after I've checked my list.

Blue Spring is the best one shot ever.

Worst mangas dropped:
Veritas
nothing else has been bad enough to drop, but Bleach is always a contender.

Favorite one-shots
Murata Yuusuke/ONE: Dangan Tenshi Fan Club
Murata Yuusuke: Heroes of Fury
Boichi: All for the Tuna

Favorite one-shots that became series
Ooima Yoshitoki: Koe no Kitachi
Tsukuda Yuuto/ Saeki Shun: Shokugeki no Soma

Crossover one-shots
Oda/Mitsutoshi: TorikoxOne Piece

I guess the best one shots I encountered have been:

Kingyo Sukui (so emotional and memorable, read it a year ago and still remember it this day)
Kimi ga Terasu Koi no Hikari (Planetarium setting and the story too was memorable)
Hakase to Neko (entertaining science story)

So how about we list some of the most memorable oneshots we're read. I will report back after I've checked my list.
I just lost my nicely organized post with all the authors and their famous works because Firefox crashed. Real quick this time.

Me wo Mite Hanase (By Iwaaki Hiroshi (Kiseijū))
Sayonara ga Chikai no de (By Yukimura Makoto of Planetes/Vinland Saga fame)
Human Chair (Itō Junji, but the original story was written by Edogawa Ranpo)
Kuroi Fubuki (Tatsumi Yoshihiro (Gekiga Hyōryū))

Blue Spring is the best one shot ever.
Aoi Haru by Matsumoto Taiyō? That's not a one shot; it has a whole volume. If you liked it, I recommend watching the film! It expands upon my favorite story.

I was under the impression that one volume was a one-shot. ?

As for the film, we used to carry it and I played it in the store all the time. More partial to Crows Zero, though.

Do you work in a film store?

I've always thought that a one shot was a single chapter. Have I been misinformed?

Children Can't Choose Their Parents:

I was expecting something like Holes or God's Child.

Blue Spring is the best one shot ever.
The one by Taiyou Matsumoto? I was thinking more about stories which are only one chapter long.

Did some digging:

The Family Zoo [Chikazawa Chuya & Enomoto Shunji]: it's fucked up beyond belief, no seriously.
Halcyon Lunch [Hiroaki Samura]: kinda similar to Arakawa under the Bridge but the humor is a little more morbid.
Beta!! [Naoki Urasawa]: amusingly self-aware.
Challenging The Manga Dojos [Nico Nicolson]: RL story of a manga author visiting Kentaro Miura. Sadly only the first part was translated.
Akazukin to Yasashii Ookami [Palmeros]: great re-imagination of Little Red Riding Hood.
My Mysterious Girlfriend X [Riichi Ueshiba]: The oneshot was great with very imaginative art, the series not so much.
Spoiler Wars [Roku Tachibana]: the title says it all.
Pom the Panda [Saeki Junichi]: very touching story.
Mud [Tomoko Yamashita]: very twisted but also heartwarming love story.
Loop [Yasuhiro Kano]: Kanos best work, I wished he would do a seinen story someday.
Koe no Katachi [Yoshitoki Ooima]: This goes without saying.
Dangan Tenshi Fan Club [Yuusuke Murata]: well it's Murata and ONE.

Oh yeah, I love countless ones by Junji Ito and Shintaro Kago but listing them all would take hours.

K - Days of Blue 1

Yes finally K is back with us in Aria after being gone briefly. I was afraid it would turn out a different way than this but Im so glad it went this route. Finally giving the briefly shown Scepter4 members personality, names, and extensive screentime really helped and was actually pretty funny. It was nearly an endless parade of great characters too with Hidaka Akira being my favorite, followed by Doujima, and of course Fushimi best. Looking forward to seeing Hidaka find someway to get Fushimi to be more of a people person, he did get him to stop his tongue thing and to say a thank you so its possible, but to invite him to the party. I hope.

Me wo Mite Hanase and Human Chair were great but I do love pretty much everything by Junji Ito. Just read Sayonara ga Chikai no de, very solid as well.

I've also read everything that Bright Side of Life mentioned above.

So I heard Berserk is scheduled to return... after Miura has done a new short series (6 chapters) or something.
lol

Well, I predict the new Idolmaster game will come out once the short series ends, wwwww.

Sekai wa Kimi de Mawatteru 02

A case of possession.

Oyasumi PunPun End

Y'know all things considered (and I mean ALL things considered) that was
a surprisingly happy ending for PunPun. And even then, it's still pretty bleak but considering everything that happened I expected much worse for him. Though I guess "happier" is a bit relative depending on how you view his overall outcome.

That was a good ride. A really fucking heavy ride at times but a good one nonetheless.

Kyou Kara Ore Wa v2
Oh Mitsuhashi you so innocent.
Riko is great and I'm glad he has found a girl who can (more than) keep up with him. The shorty who came along with her is still quite annoying though, I hope he'll get better. I think I haven't said a word so far about Itou but that's not because he's a terrible character or anything but he completely pales in comparison to Mitsuhashi but to be fair how many wouldn't.

Never Complex 6 (end)
tumblr_mvnmcvDowZ1qbxqfpo1_500.png

The cowboy story was a good one to close it out and I laughed when Maron said he wanted Lam to ride him like that too. Probably most good was everyone knew they were both into each other so it just came out fun and none drama filled our anything. Never complex was a good manga volume and such, hope to see her do more.

Hoshin Engi Vol.07

ZMyMB5C.jpg

A turning point volume gotta say. The great war kinda starts and of course we get more fights between new villains and new allies.

Still enjoy all the talk about how Taikobo still not really fighting yet.

Ikezu Kareshi no Otoshikata 1

Oh yes another one of those manga artists and editor type stories, though this time with the lead character getting inspiration for making his ero manga characters not act like dolls but more like real humans from first hand experience from his seductive editor. Yukio is a good lead and has good panels especially blushing and all his internal feelings going on made it a page turner. While Tanaka could spend more time giving Yukio attention, it did kind of make it a bit more enjoyable seeing him turn closer to the end.

Children Can't Choose Their Parents by Mitsukazu Mihara

lmfao this was fucking hilarious

people itt really need to stop losing their shit over the most stupid of things

Me wo Mite Hanase and Human Chair were great but I do love pretty much everything by Junji Ito. Just read Sayonara ga Chikai no de, very solid as well.

I've also read everything that Bright Side of Life mentioned above.

I've read every Horror piece that Itō has written :D

I only included Human Chair because it's not connected to any collection or volume. If I was to choose a single one of his stories that consist of only one chapter, I would take a while deciding..

Itou is the perfect partner for him though. They're like the team in a buddy cop movie.

Lord of Futanation
Best case of following one's true desires, and the ultimate victory of true love.
This manga also touches on the mature themes of duty vs desire, and freedon as well as the ultimate fall into carnal desire quite beautifully as well.

I go on message boards and complain about games manga I haven't played read before

Are you suggesting Aunt Tits and TLRD got better? Because if you are you're totally lying.

The idea that you have to read the entirety of TLRD to know its insipid is silly.

"How do you know TLRD is dumb?! You didn't read up to the latest chapter where Lala invents this thing that makes everyone's clothes fall off and then Rito trips and falls with his face in this other chick's vagina!"

It depends on your definition for getting better as what TLRD is doing isn't inherently unappealing.
You are right though that if TLRD isn't your thing it is very unlikely you'd be converted when the main changes are in new girls and possibly what appears to be new dynamics but doesn't quite pan out.
