Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

I've googled a bunch -- seems the PSP game needed to make it work on 2.61 is Japan store only. Guess I'm not doing this yet...

I'll strongly consider it if they find another game on the US store that works.

Hopefully this isn't completely off topic and someone might be able to help.

A friend of mine is looking to get a Vita but wants to wait for some BF deals before jumping in. Sounds reasonable enough. Thing is though they want to capitalize on some of the free games available for ps+ already, namely Hotline Miami. If they buy a subscription is there anyway to add the games to your download list without actually owning a system? Say on a pc or something? Or would they have a better chance of just using my ps3 to make an account and to que up games until they get their own system?

Oh, you mean for the Vita? IIRC the US one works for 2.06/2.12(?) only. A big downside is that you can't play Vita games that require later versions of the firmware so I'm far away from trying this. Also I think Sony removed the game required to install CFW.

He can. Just make an account on the Playstation Network website then put the ps+ free games on the download cart.

I only own a Vita.
It's why I get so pissed about the Crash/Spyro/R-Type games not working and Crisis Core not being on the store.
Seems there is a game that allows VHBL to run, but the game is some baseball game only on the JPN store.

They can do both. Either queue on the SEN store or on your ps3.

That would be relatively quick and mad easy to do, but you can do either of the options you suggest.

Edit: Beaten

What kind of visual novels are these? Dating-sim kind?

Interested in getting both.

Toradora is the typical choose your girl VN based on your actions so I guess it can be classified as dating sim.
Planetarian is a kinetic novel as in you only read it and have no choices to make, but the story is damn good.

Alright, I'll try now. I've read the book so hopefully the VN is good too.

Excellent, is a quick process and you will be ready for the Type-0 translation in a decade or so :D

Oh, wow. I thought it was the same story. Good to know.

Just started playing it myself, and I've been enjoying it thus far

Is there a how-to somewhere here?
Do you have to stay disconnected from PSN and such?
Can you use it for PSOne games too?
Where can I learn more?

Is very easy to set up CFW and you can still use PSN, let me see if I can find a good tutorial.
Also the PSX functionality is awesome, you can rip your own discs and even set background and game art, so good.

edit: not as easy on Vita, just buy a used PSP frost! :)

Oh wow, even better. I'm interested in playing it now.

Excellent! give it a good consideration :)

I can't fathom Sony, Square Enix or any other company to not make these compatible on the Vita. It's such an easy cash if they do.

Is anyone making an Akiba's Trip 2 OT?

I'm slowly being swayed towards picking it up. Thinking of waiting till next week to see if there's any crippling problems with the vita version.

So good to re-visit Parasite Eve... Damn.

Anyone playing LEGO Marvel? I wanna get it, but it's beyond my budget right now. There are a lot of unloackables?

too bad turd birthday sucked.

but kinda do wish SE would revisit the PE series. Maybe we will get a Vita title.
lol who am i kidding, it will be on the iPhone

Hey, I liked 3rd Birthday. It has a good gameplay. I didn't really understand the story because I imported the JP version. Maybe when I buy it for my Vita I'll know how Square messed it up.

You won't understand the story when it's in English either.

Story is just so confusing to me. It's like Tabata got drunk with Toriyama and whatever toriyama blabbed out of his mouth Tabata took notes and made the 3rd birthday.

truth be told though, I just bought it so I can have the aya lightning costume for Dissidia

It still amazes me how awesome this game was. And man, we are talking about what, 1998 here?

The setting was the modern world. He had for the first time real characters, with real and convincing personalities. Aya is not the femme fatale people expect from games; she's actually seems a pretty damage woman because of her past. She could be a Squall with vagina, but they made her so much better. Daniel is a freaking black cop, with mustache and a small kid. I mean, everything felt so real.

What I dislike about the future of Parasite Eve and Resident Evil is that everything turned into "GLOBAL EVENTS". After the Day 1, Aya says "people will forget and live on with their lives..." while you see the night scene of Manhattan. Nobody knows the "evil villain", the world isn't in "danger" exactly. With 3rd Birthday (and 2, in a way) and Resident Evil series they tried to turn this into a big scale battle, where society knows about this big evil thing and you have now the army, the police, tanks, bazooks and everything to fight the monsters.

I want games with more "isolated" events, that's what makes something survival horror and give he feeling of isolation.

Plus, DAATTTT OST.

Everything about PE was just perfect. I would love a HD remaster for the Vita. I think Sqaure wanted to give the series a new boost, but because of Copyright they made the shitty 3rd Birthday.

EDIT: Never beat the Chrysler building when I was a kid. Maybe now that I'm 23 I'll give it a try. Plus never got past level 36 IIRC. It seems that is "impossible"to level up, but once you do, its easy again.

If you really enjoy the gameplay but can tolerate a bad story then go for it. Looks great on the Vita and the 2nd stick really does wonders.

Otherwise, I'd skip on it.

Once I finish PE2, I'll undoubtedly want to find out what happens next. I'll buy it but not at the moment. Maybe when I buy some new games first.

Thanks for the advice BTW.

The subtitle for the Akiba's Trip 2 OT should be a nod to Hokuto no Ken, like a play on 'You are already dead', like 'You are already stripped' or somethin'

I don't know about toradora but planetarian is the bawl your eyes out kind

One of them is based on anime...? I don't watch anime though......

Ugh, they've become such a weird place. Wonder what brought the change.

Nah man. It's more because of it's on the Vita than "Insomniac is a weird place."

I've said this several times but, I still remember distinctively that once some guy from Naughty Dog commented that they wouldn't want to make a game on Vita here on GAF, in respond to an official Sony PR release saying that Sony is bringing all their best teams for Vita.

If you have a guy from one of your 1st party studios comfortably refuting an official PR from their parent company in an open public space like GAF for everyone to see, you know that they just don't care anymore :p

Lol, I can see the issue here. But more referring to their recent/ current gen output. Ugh maybe I just have some rose tinted glasses from the PS2 era :/

On topic though, that's rough! I imagine he got into some PR trouble though.

I was slightly interested with the reveal back then. This new trailer has me mildly interested. If gameplay is actually like in the trailer, they have a solid buy from me :D

Magnificent! Cant wait for Tearaway. Btw, who are you all gonna play as? Imma choose Atoi seeing as she has a nicer design to her.

That chain has almost unlimited possibilities if they are cool. Something like what you can do in DD (climbing the monster) but using that thing to do it faster would be awesome. Using 4+ chains to stop a monster that's running, making it fall to the ground...

If it's fastpaced, has an interesting post apocaliptic story and that red chain is well implemented, i'm definitely in.

My hype for Tearaway...

I love it. I'm in love with it. Isn't there a papercraft hype train? xD
