12 minute Xbox One dashboard demo

I am still surprised people wete doubtin xbone os. It will run smooth look good wil be filled with ads. Some feature may not work at launch but it will get update. We are talking about consoles here which have 8gigs of ram and tons of processing power.
the features shown in the video are already present in mist smartphones with one gig of rams and mobile processors

That was probably the best Xbox One related video I've seen to date. Really slick, well designed interface with excellent performance. That's the one area where I expect Microsoft to best Sony, honestly.

6:20 seconds in, and this OS is a system seller on its own. Fucking incredible. The way Kinect is following this guy in his living room without physically moving the camera itself is insane, but the speed and responsive of everything else is pretty fucking awesome also. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this system.

Going back to finish up video.

There was every reason to.

But i'm really really impressed by this tech.

I am in no way trying to promote conspiracy theories, but come on we all know what you saw could have easily been faked. It's recorded television. You either believe CBOAT or you don't, and the only point at which he can be vindicated/vilified is a year or so from now when we have the full story.

So, revisionist validation?

I thought this was silly and then I remembered I have an account on icheckmovies...

Some of this is pretty cool. Don't know why they make such a big deal of "the game is still running" though, that's the least I'd expect

Err, weren't the problems he mentioned related to network connectivity? What this video does not show is how the system reacts when the network connection has an issue.

A lot of this stuff looked cool, but be serious, who wanted it in an xbox? I can see the Skype stuff being awesome as the next iteration of the telephone. And the back and forth switching stuff would be great in a TV but, when I turn on my console, I'm not looking to be distracted.
imo, don't hate me

Network issues and drop outs when using mainly Snap if I remember correctly.

It is a big deal, but it all depends on how quickly the system fires up. Not many people leave their systems on 24/7. PC doesn't even do that shit. You have to manage it all yourself generally.

I doubt that voice will work that well for me. Since no other voice service in the world works all that well for me (humans have a hard enough time).

Looks cool though.

Looks great but you can tell it still needs to be optimized more, the achievement banner lags alot and same with the Xbox Kinect banner.

I'd rather not trust any Xbox One (and even PS4) staged demos, honestly.

This was as smooth as the unveiling demo by Yusuf, and we know how that turned out (jiggy realtime demos etc). I'd expect GAF to take this with a grain of salt.

I'll trust a real GAF dashboard walkthrough a thousand times over this.

Okay, I agree that it looks good, but I don't have interest in Kinect. I wonder, if those voice controls could work with the Xbox One supported headsets. Also, the whole TV thing is only available in the USA, right? God knows, when and if it comes to other countries.

I still have to laugh, when they say: "Xbox go home!"
You are drunk!

To answer your question plainly and honestly, me.

I have my PS4 for the amazing first party games from Sony but the bulk of my multiplat and general entertainment will be bone-ified. I think it's a live and let live type thing. Just my two cents.

It's amazing that basically none of those features being demoed (voice control/TV stuff) will be available in Australia at launch. Some people are going to be pretty disappointed on launch day, especially given MS' constant promotion of these features.

Some interesting answers from the Joystiq article on the dashboard
Once satisfied, you package your video for cloud consumption and sharing – it'll encode and upload while you return to gaming, as long as you don't explicitly shut down the app. Programs are automatically closed when they're pushed out of the running queue (which goes up to 6, Whitten says), but the operating system is designed to keep you from worrying about closing programs and other housekeeping. You can do it manually if you want, which is nice if you're someone who closes his inactive iPhone apps because it's neater that way.

Looks great. I'm sure there will be some issues (minor) day one, that of course they will patch. Again, looks great and very smooth.

I like it, but then it got me thinking PS4 does most of the features I want.

Multitasking
Quick resume and pause
Upload videos
Live broadcasting
Notifications
Expanded social features for tracking friends

So what's missing

Voice commands (eye will have it but most likely not as good)
TV in and guide
Skype (I'm sure a Skype app will happen for Eye)
Snap feature

Once I had a proper think I realised I have using voice commands, I never watch regular TV, Snap isn't a big deal cause I use my smartphone while doing stuff on the TV. So in conclusion the features PS4 has is enough for me.
