12 minute Xbox One dashboard demo

My apologies..

Wasn't my intention to call out thread posters. More the trend of anything positive to the Xbox is downplayed on here and met with damn near unrealistic criticism.
Are you mad at the people who wrote the articles or the ones who posted them here? Both?

Looks good! Still too much of a focus on things other than gaming for my taste. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that stuff being there, but I'm not a fan of it taking (rather significant) resources from the games.

I think that the investigators in this thread will feel pretty silly on the 22nd. I didn't see anything that wasn't something I already expected the box to do. I have no doubt they had to do minor edits or multiple takes on some of this stuff, but how is that not totally normal for something like this? When my company puts together videos like this it's sometimes an all-day event.

Laughing at the people that don't care about the snap feature yet use it's absence in this video to spell doom on the OS. I guess we will see at launch since nothing that they'll show will be trustworthy enough for some.

Anyway, that was great, but like others said it's not for everyone, all that nifty tv stuff will only work if you use the HDMI in right?

Very slick OS. If I had an entertainment center I could see it being very neat.

I wondering if they will ever make an Xbox TV because I could see my parents using this, but they would never pay $500 for it.

That looked absolutely incredible. They definitely win in the interface department.

Still, I can't help but feel the controller is faster in some applications, like instead of saying "Xbox play Forza Motorsport 5" you could just click the A button...

Well looks like there's no longer anything to worry about, unless xbox live functionality is still in shambles.

I am sorry if this has been asked, but this thread is moving rather quickly.

Serious question, what in this video could have been the reason that Albert Penello said they couldn't show the OS a couple about 10 days ago? He mentioned :

Is it safe to assume they got permission from all those people to show it I guess? I am thinking it may have taken about 10 days to get everything approved? Or they simply need a few more days of tweaking and finalizing the OS?

It is still not live, but using pre-approved assets. ESPN is not live and so forth. So nothing has really changed.

Of course controller will make more sense sometimes. The point is to have options. If you're like me you'll probably have a smart phone or tablet laying around for typing inputs too.

Yeah, it's silly to show off the voice control like that. The part where he instantly jumped into the explorer made more sense.

That was fantastic! I like the video editing, and the Skype feature. Too bad that me and my friends don't use camera when speaking to each other, because that would be pretty cool to use (I wouldn't be surprised if you could use Skype video while playing a game using snap).

I can see myself using the internet explorer and snap for walkthroughs or combo videos. It would be quite the relief from switching channels on my TV, from PC to HDMI every second.

I'm quite impressed.

I am finally starting to come around and understand why it's $100 more. I can't lie and say that such features are unappealing anymore. The messaging has been horrible, but the Xbone is looking quite appealing once you wipe away all of the mud and tune out the noise that has been surrounding it. So, pardon me. I have something to eat.

The fact that people are trying to nitpick this to expose something that isn't there is fucking hilarious. Do you people really care THAT much?

Yeah that's silly for the most recently played game but seems like it was for demo purposes. You can say Xbox Play "Game" for any game in your library rather than sort thru a list.

Here are the screenshots from when Forza is paused and when it is unpaused:

Just like any other video, movie and tv show shit gets edited. Nothing new about this. They probably said cut went to break some one played paused it they resumed recording. Big whoop. Or it is just fake and lets continue you worrying about it.

Looks very fast and intuitive, being able to customize it is even better. I just hope the Xbox live service for multiplayer games is fast and seamless as well.

That was really impressive. If what the rumours were saying is true then the devs at MS have done a fantastic job fixing things. Looks very slick and smooth.

I'm damn excited for the X1 now.

If that was indeed a proper demo with no post editing shenanigans then color me impressed. I have a PS4 on pre order and I don't plan on changing that but that UI demo should have been released MONTHS ago....looks really awesome and something that I would be interested in.

None of this is possible without Kinect. I have no issues paying the extra for it. It is so far advanced from any other console OS or entertainment device.

It's the future ... now.

Looks cool. I don't have a lot of use for most of the functionality they talked about, but for people who do, I can see that being pretty persuasive.

But that command works for any digital game you have installed in the HDD. You can say "Xbox play 'insert game here' " and it'll probably be faster than using the pad and manually looking for the game in your games section.

If you are browsing the menu its easier then backtracking to the main screen with a controller.

EDIT: beaten

Glad you like the video and we finally got one out there. Sorry - my life as been planes, demos, and sleep, so not much time to post.

I've been doing this exact demo for a few weeks. It all works and the coverage you're seeing today I think backs that up.

Any anomalies can likely be chalked up to the guys having to do more than one take. I was talking to Marc last night and he was saying that the tech was working perfect, it was more that he was flubbing lines. We're not actors as you can see :)

Enjoy the video and the coverage today! I'll be posting lightly over the next few weeks just due to travel. Can't wait for people to try themselves.

Yup. You can see where MS was going with the all-digital plan too. You could jump to every game on your HD while on TV. Or while playing one game, you could get an invite to another and join right away. Physical copies destroys that ability.

This is probably a minority opinion here, but Xbox One became less appealing when they did the 180s. I'm not going next-gen for a while, I would have liked to see competing philosophies in action before making a decision.

Any reason why the big snap feature wasn't shown in all of 12 minutes ?
