Common courtesy, yeah he made it clear and Im reaching here, but its obvious hes emotional about the situation. Usually companies react to your cancelation or talk it over to make sure its what you want to do.
Iv personally never called anyone to cancel and they just replied, "okay done", its usually a 10min conversation, ie Sky TV, BT.
