Thanks.

Not as big as the GBA's bump it seems, but that is due to the fact that the GBA SP also released at that time. I wonder what effect the 2DS will bring to this. It could be similar to the GBA SP, but to a smaller degree.

I think I'll stick with the 400K prediction.

Is that a revised figure? Because I have very different numbers for March 2003 (697K).

If we were to take out the sales of the GBA SP:

February 2003: 279K
March 2003: 162K
April 2003: 113K

Presumably, people who purchased Pokemon Ruby / Sapphire also took the time to purchase GBA SP Cobalt and GBA SP Platinum.

It's the one-two punch of Pokemon + new GBA SKU that caused the GBA to soar. I would give the 3DS similar momentum, but this is 2013 we're talking about, and I feel like the market for the 3DS is a unique case.

I never subscribed to NPD. 840k is the number that it is found googling 2003 results.

I guess I should change my records. =P

The only possible indication about 3DS this month is what said by Iwata in the last Investor Briefing

The month before Pokémon

Pokémon's month

With regard to the sales data in October, although the NPD data in October has not been announced yet, we have data from the three-week period of October 7 – October 27 in Japan and the two-week period of October 7 – October 20 in Europe, so I would like to explain the current market situation based on this partial data.
“Pokémon X/Pokémon Y” greatly boosted Nintendo 3DS sales in Japan and Europe, which can be seen in the market share. We have no sales data for other companies, so we are unable to show the U.S. data here, but the sales of Nintendo 3DS are growing in the U.S. just like they are in Europe.

FWIW, the GBA figure I have for March 2003 is different from the two posted here -- but closer to Aquamarine.

[360] 140K
[3DS] 370K
[PS3] 120k
[PSV] 30k
[WIU] 90k

Mine is = to Aquamarine's. Same for the # of SPs sold in March 2003, as well.

Edit:
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire #'s match, too.

Pachter's estimates:
Wii U = 75K
PS3 = 170K
Xbox 360 = 165K
2DS = 80K

I didn't see anything more specific.

Edit:

PS4 launch day estimate: 1.5-1.6mm
PS4 post-launch: 500K/month through Dec 2013, Jan 2014.

"Microsoft may match these quantities"

[3DS] 350K
[360] 150K
[PS3] 120K
[WIU] 70K
[PSV] 35K

I personally think the 3DS will do well, but I'm not keeping my hopes up because I don't think the 2DS made a huge impact from what I've heard. I also think some folks will hold off to buy their 2DS/3DS during black friday since it's fairly close. Considering the 3DS sold 220k with Animal Crossing New Leaf, my guess is it'll sell over 300k now.

No. The sales will come out tomorrow and not today.

NPD releases Thursday, November 14th after market close.

donny2112, today is Thursday, but it's the 14th.

You should clarify whether NPD releases on Thursday the 14th or Friday the 15th in the first post.

Yeah, it's the 14th. Sorry about that. It's a good month when I can get the OP error free. Usually miss changing the month in the events section, the url in the past threads section, or some other area. Thanks for the catch. :)

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD

Really excited for Pokemon software sales and 3DS hardware sales. However, Wii U sales will most likely be below my prediction with the drop experienced in Japan, I'm not so optimistic any longer on a so called recovery :(
