Kotaku introduces the Amazon Playstation Network Store

Damn, too bad Tony got banned over stupid shit, I would love to ask him if this will actually 'compete' with PSN or just another place to purchase those titles.

This is fucking bad ass. I never in a million years saw this coming.

I'm considering buying The Last of Us season pass, $15 ($20 with a $5 credit) isn't bad.

Yes I am sure. If Sony had any control over pricing on this...... What would be the point of it? This is the same thing as buying Steam keys on a store other than Steam. Sony wants to make it MORE attractive to buy digital games. Not the same or even less compelling to do so.

I do wonder if this means Sony is allowing devs/pubs to buy their own codes. Apple does this by allowing all devs to pay Apple's 30% cut and being able to buy as many codes like that as they want. Would make the most sense and then the devs/pubs set their own price in the Amazon store.

The point would be to give the illusion of competition. Amazon is able to offer very competitive deals on digital pc games because there are several platforms, thus creating competition. There is only one platform on the PS4.

We know nothing yet so we'll just have to wait it out.

This is incredible news.

Shit this is good, definitely good for US and UK. Wonder if I could get the games from the psn network with UK pricing? Amazon France sucks balls.

What happened to the resident NeoGAF Amazon guy? That relationship run its course? It would be interesting to see if we could get a few more details out of him.

If Amazon's response to Steam Sales is any indication of their willingness to compete in the digital market place with big sales, I am feeling very positive about this PS4 and Amazon pairing.

Sony already leaves its competitors in the dust when it comes to sales, especially with its Playstation Plus program, and adding Amazon's deal muscle to the mix increases the potential savings exponentially.

I don't find those words in the link. Did the source remove them or did OP add them?

He was banned (I think stupidly) during a time where GAF was focused on moneyhatz and he was just oblivious to what everybody was up in arms about (I forget now, I think it was Doritosgate) but he was talking about if people who made OT's or if Amazon did promotions, he could get more information for them so people could post.

It was incredibly bad timing and I think the perma was completely unjustified compared to what other more vocal idiots spout in every thread. He actually brought something besides "lulz" to the board.

But ... it is what it is.

I wonder if amazon will charge tax for digital goods. They started charging tax in my state and I guess they'll be doing that in all states by 2014 or 2015.

Wow Sony opening their marketplace for digital competition is big. I know they dabbled with codes before, but if they go full steam like openness this is a game changer.

So... I'm going to have $15 PSN credit come Friday? $5 for doing the B2G1 deal through Amazon and $10 from my launch PS4? Sure, I'll take that.

Also what the hell could Sony be hiding for Thursday if they let Kotaku drop this bomb?? Lol Sony in the trenches

Bloodthirsty sony is best sony

just checked.. pricing seems to be a mix of some parity with the physical versions as well as some further parity with PSN sales (non-Plus pricing of course). So Puppeteer is the same price as the PSN sale this week, but Ass Creed IV is only 3 cents cheaper than retail (same price as physical on Amazon).

I mean there is no downside to this. I am stunned by it. I had already planned on going all digital this gen. This only makes me feel even better than I already did about that decision.

Gonna need a bigger hard drive. And possibly that 30Mb cable upgrade.

You guys have to understand that Sony is subsidizing US promotions specifically to get a foothold here, as we are the biggest Xbox country in the world by an enormous amount.

And, it is kinda working. I am getting 5 games this week instead of just the one I had planned on (BF4) thanks to these crazy Amazon/Sony/Target promotions, and KZ and Knack were added. As I live in a neighborhood where my kids' friends stop over daily to play games, there is a serious possibility that these kids will play this shit, and then in turn ask their parents for PS4s instead of Xbones.

As of now, I know of two families who want Xbones. Their kids will be coming over this weekend to play PS4.

I don't know if Sony marketing is actually brilliant enough to use us "first movers" as salespeople for their product, but it really might work. It's basically a referral program in reverse. It only cost Sony two free games plus some PSN credit to me.
