If you're comparing Battlefield 2142, I need to ask you if you've ever played Battlefield 2142?
2142 is one of my favourite games ever, so if you're going to start this you'd better know what you're talking about.
The Verge and Polygon are both owned by the same parent company. I turned it off but I'm assuming it's the guys from The Verge. So they're not really contradicting their work.

Those two guys were pretty awful.
At first I thought you guys were crazy for taking what seemed like off-handed comments as "pro-xbone" comments... but after watching and seeing how often Microsoft was cited... You're either all correct, or these guys, until tonight, ONLY ever gamed on a 360.

Back on subject, why is this PS4 indies with the Joust guy and QWOP guy.. and they are playing NFS:R.
Also, they tried to start Just Dance, it didn't work.. then stopped and told they couldn't play that... and now they can't get PSN to work.

It was said in a factual way, but I've only ever heard this as conjecture before, so I'd be interested to know if this is actually what happened.
Also I was pleased to learn you can download the PS firmware updates to usb (get them now) and can update on launch without having to rely on potentially overloaded servers. Seems to be a good risk mitigation strategy from Sony, and I like the choice of downloading direct to console or updating via usb. This was spun as a negative on the stream as apparently it shows that Sony are not sure that they will have the network capacity.

When Arthur Gies posts something that is demonstrably horrible and people try to take it at face value, are we no longer allowed to point out why no one should listen?
The video was often Arthur Gies talking nonsense non-stop, so if we cannot respond to his (and the rest of Polygons) non-stop stream of shit quotes, I am not sure how we can fairly evaluate its contents. So this is a genuine query. I am trying to find out where you think the line is (obviously, no one should wish anyone dead though) so I can follow your guidelines

No, but the load times were fixed after the patch, they're roughly on par I guess with the 360. Framerate is still really frustrating.

This is horrible, not the people.. but NFS:R has loading screens up the ass... and then this VR stuff just hard locked the PS4.

Completely agree. I think the mods should come up with some sort of general guideline for any of the "usual personalities" that gets GAF riled up, as right now any thread talking about anything that they are involved in turns into a shitfest, and even if I agree with most of what is said think its getting tiring as well. I don't need a 20 page thread telling me so and so is an apologist and dishonest. But I also agree with Amirox that we should be able to call these guys out on their bullshit so they can't spread their FUD as well as they hope (at least in this forum). This seems to be a huge issue with the forum as of late with -gates all over the place.
Yes, it has nothing to do with the fact that they are ignorant and not paying attention to anything and have no idea how to skip anything or do anything due to that.

I'm sceptical of the hype too tbh, but there is basically no comparison.
From shooting mechanics, to movement, to pretty much every mechanic tbh.
There are mechs in 2142, but that's as far as it goes.

I like Polygon and have enjoyed the Mcelroys and a few other members of their staff but this is enough. Tried to watch the stream at the beginning and it was so joyless, unfunny and uninformative. Just snark turned up to 11. New consoles are coming out and they just shit over anything positive or counter it with something negative/Xbone does it better. I'm done with the site.

Yeah that really surprised me (all though I missed half of the footage for that game, came back and saw the score...thought there must be a mistake?)... that bad really?
I got the sense that there was a lot of focus on balancing and speed (with mech vs human), which is the right way to go for sure and I am looking forward to playing it. Being a bit cautious, don't want to let the hype get to me. Let that happen with Planetside 2.
