Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Interesting is how the guys behind Project M also down sized the number of Pikmen like Sakurai. It makes sense, since managing five Pikmen felt more random then strategic.

This past September I was hoping to interject speculation on a possible reveal for Nintendo's 124th birthday, but I missed the boat on that one because my account wasn't yet approve and now that particular ship has sailed. But hey, this is probably just the tip of the iceberg as far as reveals, though some might say that we're just rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic.

I feel like I might have gone overboard with my Titanic puns in this post....

A trailer for a near-final product is more exciting than single pictures of a product at least half a year away from release? Shocking.

Project M 3.0 trailer not too shabby but music and editing makes it look like some kid's CoD fragvideo. :|
Might just be me though.

Marth's new model in Project M would make my day. But, at any case it is an exciting time to be a Smash Bros. fan.

Brilliant mod to a flawed game, and a sequel (which will address those same issues in Brawl) in the horizon, with new characters, mechanics, and stages to explore.

Hyped beyond belief.

This weeks pictures:

Monday:
Luigi looks at Planet Mario
Tuesday:
Sonic and Samus both curled into a ball
Wednesday:
Bowser running(3DS)
Thursday:
Kirby sleeping
Friday:
Zelda confirmed

We have an approximate, kinda-prophet on our hands.

Half right on monday, mixed tuesday and thursday, which was also half right. So, tomorrow it'll be someone other than bowser running, probably on wii u.

Thursday will have to be 2 other down B's that are similar, like link's bomb and peach's turnips, or pit's shield and fox's reflector.

And friday, it'll be some other female confirmed, like zero suit samus.

"Pic of the day. Here's Marth, the sleepyhead."

Well lol, and here I was expecting something intricate a lá 3DS Pikachu pic from last week. Can't always have new info!...
...Sleepy? Jigglypuff?

Problem with the picture is that it's not Marth's sleeping pose.

Samus' changes for Project M are crazy. Beam changing should be in SSB3DU.

Yeah, I really like that beam changing mechanic.

So 3.0 will finally have every brawl character plus roy and mewtwo correct? Also project m has no way to pick pokemon trainer just one of his 3 pokemon?

Trainer was removed, and all three Pokemon have been fully fleshed out and given full movesets.

I don't care for Project M at all so *shrug*

Oh, so it really has nothing to do with the picture or the trailer then. Don't know why you would have a problem with it, but to each their own.

Yeah to me it kinda look like every character is broken once you get a combo going. There really should be a move that breaks out of a combo for balance.

Well, those combo are broken because NO ONE is trying to DI out of the combo. You wouldn't able to make those kind of combo against good players.

I'm excited about Project M 3.0 so we can get more challengers from GAF to fight against.

Once I get my hands on dat Mewtwo.

A move that keeps you from comboing? That makes no sense. If I catch you, and I can pursue and continue the combo before you are able to escape/recover, that's how it's supposed to work. In any and all fighting games.

I watched the trailer and the only thing I found interesting was Samus's beam-changing and that was it. As a Olimar guy I was left scratching my head at how white Pikmin now explode for some reason and how terrible the Distant Planet replacement looks (another flat stage, what a surprise).

Granted, the entire mod is based on a game I got bored with like a decade ago so I wasn't going to touch the thing, but obviously that doesn't hold true for other people. Go have a blast.

So any changes to the formula = bad? I thought those Pikmin differences were awesome, and will definitely make it a bigger threat. And the game has numerous stages that aren't flat.

Have you even played it?

I still cant stand having Ness PK Fire activate on shields

My buddy destroys me with that garbage. Ive beaten him a few times but man... so hard to fight his Ness in PM

lmao

I swear if all of this happens, I'm gonna start doing this on a weekly basis.

Where'd the formula thing come from? I guess the pikmim gradually growing stronger is neat, but whites now explode because why? lol

My reference to flat stages was mainly directed at what's exclusive to the mod. If I remember correctly, the only new non-flat ones are ones they're bringing back (the N64 ones)

And yup. Wasn't a fan of the new moveset alterations (Lucas, Wario, Snake, etc.) and found myself weirded out by how they shifted around the BGM (Fountain of Dreams plays Mario Bros. music now? Okay.)

He was talking about that particular stage though. Which LITERALLY is a big grey block with two leafs and two platforms.

Personally I'm also not too fond of the direction they've taken with the characters from SSBB. The mod once was supposed to make SSBB feel more like Melee, but Lucario's new Aura System or Bulbasaur's Solar Beam don't feel like they belong in a Smash Game at all. The creators got carried away too much. Maybe they should rename their Mod, Project M(elee) no longer is what the mod's about...

Pikmin exploding is AWESOME man! Can't you see that? Never played a single Pikmin title (for shame), but if that's against the grain of the characters I can see how that can be odd or off putting.

And I'm sure the flatter stages were at the suggestion of Pro Smash players to allow more places to kick each other around on, instead of just Final Destination. I like it. I still have my uneven and oddball stages to go along with the flats.

I think the Aura System works fine. It's similar to what was already in place (more damaging Aura Sphere as damage taken/percentage rises), just executed differently.

I just discovered this mod a few weeks ago, honeslty. And for myself this is very very exciting.

But yea, it' sno big deal. Everyones gonna like what they wanna like.
