Considering Skye didn't even know Coulson before he died I'm sure the "robot" line was just an unimportant one.

Also it's not very subtle and seems too obvious to have a line like that indicating he is robot, I want to give the writers more credit than that.

Really liked this weeks episode. I am wondering how or what happened to Coulson now that he realized he's out of the loop and they're hiding info from him. Really looking for this weeks episode and see how it connects with Thor.

I am sure the writers put that in there just to fuck with the fans, whether it turns out to be true or not.

Coulson has suffered minor bruises and cuts, and has bled. We don't know how they'll decide to handle LMD's in the cinematic universe. Maybe they'll be actual robots with a flesh layer for bleeding. Maybe they'll be biomechanical. Or they could be wholly organic clone bodies, with stored memories flashed into the clone brain.

There could be a dark ethical turn if they go with clones who are essentially real human beings but are treated as temporary or disposable since memories can be re-inserted as often as needed into a new clone.

Could explain why Agent Hand didn't bother with a extraction plan. We'll just wake up their replacements models and no one will be the wiser....
And if Coulson starts to remember too much, well just off him again and awaken another replacement model.

AoS will now be Firefly meets Dollhouse.

Just went through all 7 episodes this weekend, and the show is really good. Will definitely be tuning in regularly on Tuesdays.

Reading some comments on the last few pages bummed me out though. Can't we keep the hyperbolic hate on gaming side? Please? How is it that some of you hate this show but are still watching it seven episodes in and taking even more time to shit on it in this thread?

Better not tell people to stop watching, don't want ratings to drop more.

I think Coulson has been replaced by a clone of some sort.

Like, maybe, SHIELD has clones of all of their level 8 agents - so they can replace them if need be?

The clones would have all of the knowledge of the originals, but there might be some differences in their behaviour.
I'm still not sure if him being a clone, or even a robot fits into the universe.

The lady with the robotic eye could obviously see something inside of him was different, but I don't necessarily think that means he's a robot.

I still think it could be something Asgardian keeping him alive, I'm just not sure what.

I hope we find out sooner rather than later, but that probably won't be the case.

Each episode is getting marginally better then the last. I really liked how they split the team in two, therefore creating dynamic between Fitz and Ward and Simmons and Skye. Theres still no real story though, and the show is suffering for it IMO.

I don't pay attention to writing credits most of the time, but is Joss Whedon doing this series for real, or it's a "Created by J.J. Abrams" deal? Because I can't shake the feeling that Whedon is just getting his way and making Firefly again.

Aside from the fact that both series take place inside an airplane/craft, and most of the series is based off the interaction between the crew members inside that plane, and sometimes they go on missions outside of the plane where we see their individual worth, there are some similarities that I keep noticing when watching episodes.

Coulton is the leadership part of Mal. It's a very different character (thankfully) and they have very little in common other than being the captain of the ship. One could argue that they both have a nebulous background, but Coulton's is much more of a "keep people watching the show" one.

Zoe and Wash are pretty much merged into May: Kickass pilot and kickass "me and the captain worked together before" ex-army/agent character.

Fitz/Jemma are the Simon/River science equivalents. With much more science, less crazy background (that comes from somebody else) and a different relationship, but they're the "science people while everybody else on the ship doesn't know shit about science". Throw a little Kaylee's engineer-knowledge to Leo and Simon's Medical knowledge to Jemma and those roles are filled.

Ward is clearly the ruggedly handsome part of Mal and the kickass "kill everybody and be amazing" part of Jane without the other side of both of those characters (leadership from Mal and general evilness from Jayne).

That just leaves Skye. She's the outsider that brings an over-arching crazy backstory to the series involving "the man", like Tam (in this case, SHIELD, in Firefly's case, hands of blue). The captain has feelings towards her, like Inara (Coulton kinda seems himself as a father figure to Skye, while Mal liked Inara) and she has skills that live outside of the group's main trade but come in handy time after time (Arguably, both Book and Inara also did this, but it's a stretch).

Agents of SHIELD (do we have a shorthand for the series yet? MAOS?) started really tame, but I think the episodes are getting better each week and Skye story is getting a little more interesting. I wonder how they will - eventually - solve/show Coulton's story.

Slowly, I can see a story being built behind the characters. Coulton likes to keep everybody in the group informed and up to speed on everything, he cares about these people, even though that's not protocol. I can see the problems people point out and, most of the time, I agree. It just doesn't bother me as much, I guess.

Whedon only made the pilot. He hasn't done any writing/directing/showrunning since that.

I like that they're operating as part of a larger unit to open the episode. It's much better than sticking them on the magic school bus.

I can only speak for myself.

I saw up to episode 3. Hated them.

I follow in this thread to see if, as the season progresses, some of the other posters that hated the show have started to see reason to stick with it. If there is, then I'll jump back in because it's the type of show I want to like. But, I won't like it just because it falls in my favorite genre of TV. I wouldn't want Marvel to take my viewing SHIELD as a reason for them to make other super hero tv shows (netflix deal) follow the same...well, anything really (based on the first 3 episodes).

I thought the show was enjoyable since the pilot and it's got better since. I don't understand the comments saying it's bad. It's a fun show.

I personally thought the pilot was horrid and pretty much made me not want to watch any more. But I decided to give the 2nd ep a shot and I think each episode has been better than the last.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to see Thor 2 until it's out on DVD/whatever so hopefully this won't either a) not make sense or b) spoil parts of that.

I'd like to think that the woman with the robotic eye could have - literally - seen through Coulson. She would have known if he was a robot or not.

Yeah I'd tend to agree. The refs to robotic LMDs are a taunt. It doesn't mean Coulson hasn't been severely screwed with though.

At the moment with how hard the Asgard angle is being pushed as Earth's link to the cosmos, I'm sticking with Coulson was cold dead and on ice. And something was used on the corpse as an experiment.

But there may be potential negative side effects, which is why everyone higher up is interested in Coulson's condition.

Coulson getting the Rei Ayanami treatment would have been an interesting angle, but I don't think they're heading that direction.

They're just now filming ep 11? Wow, the turnaround on these episodes mustbbe crazy fast.
I noticed Ward's hair seemed to change in the last ep or two to be closer to what he looks like IRL. Guessing there was a filming gap somewhere in the last few episodes.

It's good that it'll give them time to course correct based on criticism if that's something they're interested in doing.

My thoughts exactly. I hope they understand they need to do something different. It feels like there's a new "How to fix SHIELD" article/blog every few days.

I wonder if they will ever reintroduce Caulson to the Avengers before Part 2 hits theaters... I mean it seems weird that they are doing these crossover events, and he no longer shows up in the single character movies...

I would assume that Joss is trying to reintroduce him to the Avengers in the movie, but I would love if they can get one actor from the movie on the show and be shocked that he is alive...

If his resurrection somehow tied to Ultron, that'd be a pretty elegant solution into bringing him back for the movies. (But completely unsatisfying to anyone watching SHIELD. No one wants to wait 2 years for that to resolve.) The alternative, is some clunky exposition dump to explain how/why he survived. And if some characters find out sooner than others, that scene just gets more clunky and bloated.

I wonder if we'll get a Guardians of the Galaxy crossover episode? Like if Starlord gets bored and comes back to Earth for McDonalds and the team chase him round Earth or something...I dunno something cool at least.
