Forza 5 Micro transactions price table : or how to do it wrong

If these is the future of racing games on consoles, I'm bailing out right now. Soon these rip off merchants will be charging for fuel in game to be more 'realistic'.

I hope that if you buy DLC cars you don't have to grind for them. That would make no sens at all.

That's how it was in the previous games it made the cars available to purchase with the in game currency it didn't just straight away unlock them for you.

edit- Forza 3 made me skip out on the DLC for Forza 4.

Ugh, I can't believe they have the balls to label the worst value packages as "Recommended" and "Great Value".

Makes me feel like I just shook hands with a used-car salesmen... grimy.

Jesus....fuck you turn 10. Id expect this from a f2p dev just trying to make a cash grab, but not a first party game. It reeks of greed.

That would be AWESOME!! Charge you entrance fee, parts, maintenance each race and the winnings barely allow you to progress so if you have a couple bad races you have to start over. But WAIT, buy tokens that can be changed to in game currency so don't have to start over!

FYI, I'm a huge F2P whore on the PC but won't support such things in full priced games out of principal. It's just sooo wrong to me.

Last night I had a dream I met Dan. Seriously, this isn't a lie. I asked him if him and Turn 10 were the ones deciding the policies behind the wheel compatibility and micro transactions. He said no, he just wanted to make a great sim.

=[

I want to believe.

I have no doubt in my mind that Turn10 is concentrating heavily on the actual game mechanics itself and the call from management to increase the profit margin (to offset low sales due to it being a launch title) by including these micro-transactions isn't something they are able to control, but it's slimy nonetheless.

It's sad because this is the highest rated exclusive on the X1, and this is really souring fans of the franchise.

Well, all MS exclusives have Micro transactions... Ryse, Forza, Crimson Dragon, Killer Instinct, Lococycle, and Powerstar Golf. It really makes me have a disdain for Microsoft.

Recommended and great value options for the publisher indeed.

How do the points distribute? I mean if you spend the additional 99 euros will that get you every car in the game?

A game like Real Racing 3 costs about 350 euros for all the cars but is free

Both models can burn in hell but am just wondering what's the worst one?

Wow... I didn't know it was that pervasive.

It seems the mandate for Xbox to turn a profit has found it's way into every facet of the Xbox brand.

"best deal"

These microtransactions have no place in a full price game like Forza, nor in the other launch games.

Paymium.

Yeah, I didn't want to say "Xbox One" exclusives, because I don't know if Zoo Tycoon has it...

I'm guessing Kinect Sports Rivals will be the same as the others though.

I think I remember some game (F2P? iOS?) that actually did that.

Real Racing 3, IIRC. Had to wait for an oil change, wait for upgrades to be installed, wait for car to be repaired, wait for gas, wait for this, wait for that, etc. Of course, you could speed it all up for a fee.

I avoid $0 games with this practice because I'm not a fan of pointless grinding.
You can be damn sure I'm going to steer clear of any full-priced title that strips out the fun/unlockables and goes grind-heavy just the same.
Especially if it's to introduce a pay-to-win currency mechanic.

It's not like I don't have other driving games to play. Hell, I've got other Forza games to play.

So what was once an insta-buy franchise for me (I own Forza Motorsport 1-4) is now a no-buy franchise. Congrats, Microsoft! You just saved me some money.

This was in previous Forza games, why is it a story now?

And I'd like to add, it doesn't negatively effect the game in anywa
Why don't you respond to all of the forza fans here, who have played them, and have implicitly detailed how this will have a negative effect on their personal enjoyment of the game.

Instead of just posting "nuh'uh."

This kind of greed puts me off of the gaming industry completely. Modern games are going to get more and more brazen about it and a lot of you are going to eat it up. I was fed up with doors you couldn't enter or quests you couldn't accept without DLC purchases in the last gen of gaming, adopting the free to play monetization model for full price games is just... I give up.These kinds of IAP transactions just disgust me.

Enjoy Next-Gen guys.

Because it looks like the amount of in game credits players earn after winning races etc has been lowered in an attempt to steer payers towards the tokens.

So really it should be:

.99 = 100 tokens
2.99 = 300 base + 25 free (overcharged by $2)
4.99 = 500 base + 75 free (overcharged by $5) (recommended!)
9.99 = 1000 base + 250 free (overcharged by $10)
19.99 = 2000 base + 700 free (overcharged by $30) (Great value!)
49.99 = 5000 base + 3000 free (overcharged by $50)

Daaaayum. (and really it shouldn't be any of these as this practice is shit for $60 games as it encourages developers to introduce greater grinds to encourage monetary payout to reduce grinds.)
