He does. his image/likeness and voice, they don't own it, and he's an established name on youtube, that's why you don't see ign or gamespot getting too live footage happy when they report on similar things..But he has no rights to do what he did, he just abused YouTube's systems. There was no copyright to claim. There is no way to look at this situation where KSI is the one in the right, regardless of your feelings towards his behaviour.
As for the BBC, that's kind of the point of the original video. It's not appropriate given his behaviour.

iiwii.
even if I'm not a fan of the particular dude who reported it, vg's victory is getting microsoft to drop dude, at a cost true, but its still a victory.
Oh wow, because of that copyright strike by KSI, Videogamer are not able to monetize their youtube videos for the next 6 months.
Apparently they have also been in negotiations to join a network, which is now on hold because of KSI's copyright strike.
It's like.... he's trying to do KassemG's type of humor, but he has nowhere near the amount of charisma necessary to pull it off. Yikes.
This seems a bit overblown - seems more like sour grapes (i.e. "Why is this guy getting corporate gigs where there are perfectly nice guys like me...").
my post was aimed at tb being surprised and having to include a sarcastic remark that people watch others play fifa(urgh football!) on youtube and its quite popular. he is a pompous arsehole. i blame the op for including tb's tweets.
Or, they actually have a point. The guy went up to men and insulted them on camera "Where's your dick?", and made other ridiculous comments like "Why aren't you jerking off in public?" in a public convention for video games.
He and every company hiring him deserves to be called out on this.
That dude's the only good comedian on youtube.
Seeing how easy it is these days for content owners to censor things on YT by abusing the DCMA, I'm absolutely sure they could literaly nuke his channel, if they wanted to.Can EA censor KSI and have all of his FIFA videos pulled? Say something like they don't feel he is a good representative for their game?
I'd love that. If there's anyone undeserving of their success, it's the likes of KSI.
Not even comparable to Kassem G. That dude's the only good comedian on youtube. This KSI dude is just an asshole with a mic.

This dude isn't a politician, he's a youtube personaility. Dude makes far too much money off youtube to not know it in and out, and he's utilizing that knowledge power. It's blatantly fair use. If you caught a politician doing the same thing, would it be unacceptable to show the video? Come on.

Let's not go there, I don't want to think its anything other than what they say it is, which is a valid uproar and disagreement over the way a personality acted at a games convention towards women.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekqiVbOTBYU

Yes, I'm sure calling someone a hypocrite lets you win internet points, but it certainly doesn't dismiss the rest of us who think that those assholes should also be held accountable for what they do, and it doesn't negate the logic behind the complaints one bit.
The guy is a total shit stain. Total. Shit. Stain.
I can not fathom why any company would want to be associated with him.
Watch KSI's antics here: KSI being awkward in Eurogamer Expo
Anybody with a moral stance must be doing it out of self-pity. Obviously. Nobody could actually think that being a dickhole to women is actually a terrible, unacceptable thing that major companies should not sponsor.

Wait what? You think Kassem G, Dom Joly and Sasha Baron Cohen are assholes? Or what exactly are you saying?
Also, I'm not arguing against the censoring, because that, imo, was a dick move.
It's the same field as prank calling. It can be annoying, it can be entertaining, doesn't really matter. It's a shame that people don't get to live in a world where there are no dickheads, but that isn't how it works.
did Microsoft hire those guys too? Nobody's saying censor this guy's 13 year old boy schtick, just big corporations are going to be called out if they hire this guy to attract 13 year old boys.

Here's where I stand. If someone decides to alter the original footage, and cut and edit it, it makes sense that someone could want to take action and take the video down. Context is key.
For instance, showing clips of KSI 'insulting' female cosplayers portrays one image (that of a misogynistic sexist), whilst showing the entire video might simply make him seem like a dick.
Really I think the best way to handle it is to ask people to watch the entire video (and give them a link to that video), then highlight the parts you take issue with. To me, that is much more amicable.
For me, its about being a dickhole full stop, thats why I don't like him. The fact that his target was women in that video means nothing to me. He was a dickhole to people, so I don't like him.
If you can't see the difference between that, and going up to people who clearly don't understand what you're doing and thus probably embarrassing them and making them feel uncomfortable (Unlike those in Kassem's videos who are in on the joke from the beginning) then.. I can't figure out a way to explain it to you. Besides, I'm not sure where you're getting these supposed double standards from, I hadn't made any comments on other people who do similar things.

Along with the other examples mentioned in the original video.
I'm saying that pointing out the double standards in the thread doesn't negate that they're still right. It's a personal attack designed to win arguments, not to actually make any valid points on the subject. It's a waste of time and a deflection.
I'm also saying that any comedian who tries to be funny by being horrible to women in an unscripted environment is a piece of garbage.

Right about what? My post is a reply to the people calling him a misogynist in this very thread.
My major issue was that he was a dickhole in a public environment where he had the power to be sexually demeaning to someone who had no power to attack him back, which is why the women thing is of note. The fact that that sort of thing isn't already considered 100% socially unacceptable by anyone with a functioning brain is astonishing to me.
I know, that's what I'm talking about. Duh. Yes. Are you even reading what I'm saying?
I'm telling you that your "calling out" of double standards in the thread (yes, the people calling him a misogynist) is a pointless deflection.
I think you're missing the point. He says those things because they are socially unacceptable.
But otherwise, I do agree with you. Although I don't have any particular quarrel about him being sexually demeaning, but just demeaning in general.
So the people calling him a misogynist are not pointlessly deflecting? It's ok for them to do it but not for me to argue against it?
He does. his image/likeness and voice, they don't own it, and he's an established name on youtube, that's why you don't see ign or gamespot getting too live footage happy when they report on similar things..

Microsoft shouldn't associate themselves with someone who makes misogynist comments and does a "rape face" but VideoGamer is fine with the "family friendly" corporate having games that depict grotesque violence and sexual content on their system?
What
Microsoft shouldn't associate themselves with someone who makes misogynist comments and does a "rape face" but VideoGamer is fine with the "family friendly" corporate having games that depict grotesque violence and sexual content on their system?
What
If I ask you a question can I not have to defend my point? Should I just keep asking questions until you stop responding? What did you mean by pointlessly? What do you mean by argue? Did you mean argue as in pointlessly deflect? Am I winning the thread yet?
You can argue. You're not arguing. You're just calling people hypocrites. That's not arguing. If you want to learn more, read my other posts in this thread that you so poorly understood the first time you might have read them.
Are you just saying words now? Why is saying people have double standards not a form of arguing? It was my way of saying that he is obviously not a misogynist but just trying (and failing) to be funny. I thought I made that pretty obvious. You haven't answered my question either. Why is calling him a misogynist not deflecting the thread when it was about him censoring a video (which at this point I think most of us have agreed is a dick move)?
I don't know why you keep going on about "winning the thread", I just can't stand people dishing out the misogynist label where it's not appropriate, and called people out on it. You basically didn't agree with me about that and started making some stuff up about me trying to win internet points or something.
No, I think your argument is bullshit and you seriously have issues understanding anything I say, so I'm making fun of you.
I'd break it down, but you wouldn't understand that either. I've already answered your questions.
No, you're missing my point. It should be unacceptable to everyone on a meta level. Laughing at socially unacceptable things (not all of them, just the ones discussed here) should not be socially acceptable either.
Hangups about using words like "women" and "sexually demeaning" is bizarre to me. What do you have against positioning your ire against a subset of something you already acknowledge to despise? It's the same thing with a different name.
