Oh god I only saw the Etrian Oddysey-spinoff game on GAF when I logged in and was like wtf.

I guess I went through the same throws you guys did earlier this morning.

Yay for Persona 5. Does Winter 2014 mean January February 2014 or December 2014?

November-December 2014
]If install base would be only thing that matters the game would come to PS2. It's how active the userbase is. Active userbase of PS3 is diminishing every month
.Their focus is japan, even next Tales of that bigger than Persona not gonna touch PS4 yet

Was this announced last? I just woke up and saw this thread, then looked in the other two threads and saw a bunch of people saying fuck you Atlus for trolling us, etc. lol

What would it benefit from being on PS4? It's not exactly gonna have mega-graphics.

I'd buy it without question if it was on PS4. The idea of investing more into games for a last gen console isn't as appealing to me. I don't care if it's the same visuals. I don't want to still be buying PS3 games a year from now.

I know that Persona-heads may slit their wrists if they don't get their dating sim and waifus, but I really hope that P5 (and 6) has a different style and direction than the previous two games. We've had like 6 or 7 years of P3/4, time to move on. Make every two games its own little universe with unique gameplay.

Keep the school setting, but maybe a different type of school? College? Kindergarten? Juvenile Hall?

Why would they change anything? This is clearly the formula that works best for them and the series, thus why it has become so popular. If you're hoping for anything other than more of the same, then you're probably going to be disappointed.

Err, it's going to take a while before all 80 million+ ps3 owners start moving on to other things. Especially in Japan.

Got to love the entitlement in these threads. Now that people bought their $300 console that's a barren wasteland, or their $400 Knack player, they expect every publisher to release games for them. Sorry, but Atlus didn't tell you to buy those systems. You got them on your own, and now you will have to deal with the lack of software.

My point stands.

We are starting to see Vita versions of games outsell their PSP multiplat counterparts in Japan. Vita has sold about 2M units LTD in Japan. PSP has sold over 20M units.

I think P5 is a PS3 game because the team has been working on the PS3 for some years now. The PS3 will still be active enough in 2014 to support the sort of sales that a Persona game is likely to achieve, so why bother switching platforms?

PS4 could use more third party exclusives, I think a lot of folks were hoping this might be one regardless of what platform it started development on.

Personally I'm more than happy with PS3, closing out a console fits the m.o. for the series and stretching that team out too thin sounds like a mistake, it's taken a while just to get here. Port isn't out of the realm of possibility but the inevitable P5 FES/Golden edition that actually takes advantage of new console features sounds like a more likely plan of attack.

So do those look like office chairs to anyone else? I know we have been stressing the importance of high school social life over that of college/working life in Japan, but I can really see them going with a "slave to a dead end job" thing for the theme.

Or I'm totally off. I haven't played a Persona game before and I'm really excited for this.

lol, by the time P5 comes out most games will be releasing on PS4. Have you never experienced a console transition?

Looks like a school chair.

iirc it was already said that the difference in P5 would be significant much like how P3/P4 was from P1/P2. And to that I say good, good on them for trying other things and keeping it fresh.

Actually yeah. maybe I am talking too much about the west considering how most of Persona sales still come from Japan and there PS3 definitely is more logical choice (especially with delayed PS4 release). Maybe it will get cross gen port for west though.

It's not about entitlement, I suspect most of us don't even own a PS4, that doesn't mean we don't want it on that console.

Nooooo, FeMC needs more love D:
I am preparing a new FeMC avatar :) The last one was a bit ugly. I hope she is, in some way, present in Persona Q, by the way... since Theo is there.

Agreed. If they change the P3/4 formula too much, they will receive a lot of backlash.

*Sigh* Damn it Atlus, and all you put on the vita is a dance game. Still looking forward to this.

How will they milk their fanbase if they release the game on handheld from the start? P5P will come out in late 2015 so you can buy the game a second time.

Userbase = consoles sold? Because that's a pointless number.

Exactly. Not everyone is a persona fan. This goes to show why they're not releasing it for the PS4. There is no userbase for it yet because the japanese PS4 has yet to be released. I don't think there are any JRPGs that I know of that would release to the PS4 anytime within the next few months.

All my hype. So glad I don't have to upgrade to PS4 to get this game, since I jumped in the previous gen late I was gonna let my PS3 ride out a few years before jumping to PS4. Great news to me.

Happy for PS3, honestly. Just cause new systems are out doesn't mean they have to completely transition the next day. I don't want a PS4 any time soon.

And with XIII sucking, XV and KH3 moving to PS4, and Microsoft taking some good JRPG exclusives early in the gen, PS3 was kind of a disappointment for JRPGs.

Only Valkyria and Ni no Kuni were very remarkable. P5 will be that swan song JRPG the system always needed. Plus, it's very like Atlus to release a game after the new gen starts. They did that with P4.
