I feel like everyone is buying a Wii U right now.
Well, at least some are. Hopefully it amounts to enough to get this ship out of the murky waters.

I think it's the right time for me to get a WiiU, i skiped the Wii but HD Nintendo games are winning me over. I just need another price drop, it still too expensive for what you get hardware wise IMO.
Christmas for my boysnice, now you just need 3D World
I'm getting the ps4 next friday preordered and payed already but i think the best value for mi money this holidays is the wiiu so...![]()
Already preordered super Mario 3D world, i'm enjoying the console much more than i expected! wind waker HD is glorius and the wonderful 101 is awesomenes.

They could build more studios.Nintendo really should fund some ports or projects and collaborate with third parties more.

They have been expanding their internal teams.
Forgot to mention i live in Mexico, the WiiU is around $400usd here, i paid less for my soon to arrive PS4, if it was $250 here i'd be all over it even without games bundled.Ebay will have Wii U bundle, for $250. presumably the mario/luigi one. Them two games, at retail, go for around $80, total.
not enough to be honest. they also missed on a lot of good opportunities to buy third parties.
What's enough? That new Kyoto R&D building should be done anytime now. That houses 1200-1500 people (seen both numbers floating around). They have to fill that somehow. I understand this also includes a significant amount of new people.
Just read this thread. It's still relevant.
Wasn't that building finished last year or so? They should be working on stuff there already. Memory's a bit hazy on that subject though.

You're wrong this time. End of 2013. So not yet I think!
Nintendo currently has about 5000 people. I know they are very efficient but they should really consider growing substantially above that. EA, Activision or Ubi for example have a headcount of 7 000 to 9 000 and thats without hardware people.
Sega has over 10 000 (althought they are probably no benchmark).
They could really use a European or American studio beyond what they have now for example.
I know. Still they could use a better output on both 3DS and WiiU quantitywise. It's not that simple. You can't just crunch the numbers together like that.

funny thing is that I went there saw it and didnt even realize what it was. Nintendo is in such a friggin odd place within Kyoto.
No you are absolutely right. I was not so much keen on the idea but why the hell not. there should be more than enough studios that would be willing to do a port job (see all the HD remakes that popped up at the end of this gen) for the right price. If Nintendo can secure some key titles by paying for the porting money, why the hell not?I also think they should fund a ZombiU 2, just like they did W101 and Bayo2. I also think they should form a couple of smaller technically competent studio's, that could just handle the ports of 3rd party multiplats when 3rd parties intend to skip the platform. I don't know how feasible this is, but these studio's would know the hardware and try to make the port the best version, as well as work to the system's strength (gamepad features). I mean, if i understand correctly, Straight Right asked SE if they could port DE to WiiU, they took initiative? Not sure about the ME3 project. Nintendo should be able to get key 3rd party multiplat games in case those publishers don't want to take the risk of (or invest in) porting it themselves. I'm not talking about any 3rd party game, but the real heavy hitters. Pay for the port (by internal studio's) and carry the publishing cost. Once their costs are covered, they can split profits with the original publisher. I think this way Nintendo takes a small risk, the 3rd party takes no risk at all, and the consumer can rest assured they are not paying for a botched port. On top of being able to get certain games on the platform that would otherwise not be on there.
I'm just thinking out loud.
What ever happened to that Human Head WiiU project? Was it just Batman or something else?

Currently Nintendo is using some third parties to do their heavilifting already (Namco Bandai for Wii Sports and Smash, Ganbarion for Wii Fit for example).
I mean, let's say for arguments sake, they hired the former Factor5 crew, to form a new internal studio, that was 100% dedicated to porting games like the next Resident Evil, GTA, Battlefield etc... F5 was never known for their amazing art or creativeness, so no talent lost there, but they were wizards with the hardware. You could be damned sure that if they were making a port, and WiiU was really a bit more competent than PS360, that it would definitely show in the result. Nintendo quality control would make sure they never overstep (performance hits in favor of too much blingbling).
How much more confident could you be, paying for a multiplat game, knowing it's going to be a great port, not having to fear it's botched. I think those games would sell a lot better on Nintendo platforms than before. Basically everybody wins.

We don't know. Might be cancelled. Might be still coming.
It was not Batman.

Yup. Have you heard about a launch title called Funky Farm? Because it was that.

Has anybody heard of that Straight Right project? They were working on 3 games:
Mass Effect 3
Deus Ex: HR - DC

If a third-party developer or publisher has come up with an idea of a potentially very unique use of the Wii U functionality with such a device, there is a high possibility that Nintendo will be a partner with that third party in an unprecedented manner (thereby reducing their development risk significantly).
So picked up:
- Mario Wii U Bundle
- 2 Motion Plus Controllers and Nunchucks
- Wii Classic Controller Pro
- Wonderful 101
- Super Mario 3D World
- Windwaker HD
- Pikmin 3
I was contemplating getting the Zelda Bundle but just decided to get the Mario one instead. Here we go!
edit: I'm thinking about taking back the games due to the buy 2 get 1 40% off at Toys R Us. Any other Wii U Black Friday deals I should be aware of?
Is that supposed to be a Beastie Boys reference?
Funky Boss, Funky Boss, Funky Boss, Funky Boss
Funky Boss, Funky Boss, get off my back!

You got some awesome gaming ahead of you.
Please post impressions!
I think Nintendo really needs to get their relationship with EA repaired and without a deal similar to what you have described there is just no way. We will see...

eShop powered by Origin. Just like EA wanted.
Seriously, fuck EA. Nintendo will lose in Europe but if they can afford to get support from Take2 and hold stronger ties to their existing 3rd parties they'll be ok.

Funding ports opens a door that likely won't ever be closed. It benefits the port owner more I think. However I would not be against them partnering with developers to a point where they co-own an exclusive and it only appears on Nintendo hardware.
As for EA. I think time and effort would be better spent on other companies and making sure the games from them that do get released do better. Ubisoft and Activision for example. However the sports situation needs to be addressed and if not with EA then with Take 2 or start developing their own. Starting with baseball like they used to in the past.
Any suggestions for a charging station?
