Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

?? Making a similar game to cash in on the popularity of another game is the very definition of a clone (in a video game context).

We might have different definitions of clone. When I hear clone I think ripoff, and Soul Sacrifice feels like anything but a ripoff to me. The mechanics, story, setting, and overall feel of the game are all totally different to Monster Hunter, the only thing they have in common is arena based NPC battles.

On another note, does the drift steering in Sonic Racing seem a bit off to anybody else?

The game feels quite different than Mario Kart, but I dunno. Just try another character. I think I'm having a good time with the dude from Crazy Taxi.

My main problem right now is the water. It's not that I don't like how different ground, water and flying feel (it's pretty good) but I'm having some problems there. I like flying though, even if I don't drift in those stages XD

Yeah, if games couldn't borrow design elements from one another, genres would't exist.

Ok, I'll admit it... Tearaway is pretty fucking magical.

I'm impressed -- it's far from perfect, but a lot of the charm in the world tends to make you forget the annoyances. Going for the platinum is a bit aggravating however, as I'm currently stuck missing 5 pieces of confetti in "The Barn" and I have no idea where to find it. I'm quickly getting sick of repeating the level looking for it.

Anyone happen to know of any tricky hidden confetti in "The Barn"?

Unrelated:
Considering buying Ys as part of the spend $60 promo (with Rayman Legends, finally)... is it as good as it looks? I heard the file size was around 800mb... I wouldn't mind some impressions if I've missed them since I didn't read the last couple of pages (sorry if it's been covered, please direct me to the posts in that case).

Also, any update on the possible NA Thanksgiving/Black Friday sale for PSN?

The Barn is the second area? Sorry dude, buy I have the game in Spanish xD. If that's the place where you are having problems, I'm in the same boat to.

I won't give up on it completely, I probably just need to give it a chance to click and then I will be good. The game looks really good though.

Fumbled the spelunky daily completely! 0 lol

Ah man, it was a really good one today too. There was a 12 pack of bombs on a crate in the first level and a shotgun in a crate on the 2nd. It was gearing up to be a really good run, then I fell onto some spikes :(

Yeah, I guess I should. I don't have a credit card though, hahaha.

Now you guys can understand how painful it can be when I bought something only for it to be sold in sales later on right? ;_________________; Hey Aytrial, you can understand my pain, right? Right? Right?

Black Friday at Gamestop actually looks like a worthy stop. Killzone, Rayman, Jak & Daxter, AND another year of PS+.
I'm actually going to pick up the majority of my games this year at Gamestop for once. They normally have really bad deals.

demon gaze can't come out soon enough... could use some senran EO style gaming for the Vita

Anyone who's skipping Guacamelee for whatever reason is stupid.

Game was crazy good on PC and should be even better on Vita now that I can play it with a decent d-pad.

I was missing a collectible in Gippet Hill and it was somehow tied to The Barn. My other piece of advice is to take your time through the area again, when looking for confetti. It's real easy to miss a piece or two, even if you run by a cluster of them. This has happened to me a few times.

It's in my top 5 favorite Vita games, along with Persona 4, Gravity Rush, Tearaway, and probably Sly Cooper.

I could easily do a top 10-20 on the Vita, though.

I'm not redownloading the Japanese VO pack.

Don't have the room.

This screams IRONIC to me. :lol
Sorry, couldn't help it -- from your posts, it seems like a given you'd want those installed if you were playing.

The Japanese dub any good? I have only played a little but of Soul Sacrifice but I enjoyed the English dub.

The English voice for Librom was enough to make me to concuss myself into oblivion.
Japanese VO are much better, IMO. I won't play without it.

I found them. I hate that stage with a passion now though.
Turns out there was a stump that you can hold the rear touchpad underneath for launch that I missed (near the place where the mouse points out mouse holes to you).
100% up through The Caverns now. ^_^

Great picks. Man, still gotta get Sly Cooper (been waiting for it to hit PS+)

Thanks! Sly is really good. I got the PS3 version, so the Vita version was included, but it's a really solid port. The PS3 version is smoother and prettier, but the Vita version looks great, and controls well. There's some framerate and load time issues, but I don't sweat things like that, especially when it's as minor as it has been on Sly.

Don't download the Soul Sacrifice Japanese VA unless you really want it and have the space (it's not a small file). If you do download it and save your game, you won't be able to use that save file at a later date unless you download the VA again.

Edit: 545MB.

Thanks for the warring! I often just download things to test them out and then delete them, so this could easily happen to me. :D

Did someone buy Fort Defense on the european store? I have an error during installation whatever it's after downloading the game directly from my Vita or by copying it from my PS3.

Guacamelee just popped into my instant game collection...

One of those games that you don't mind the fact that you've already bought it because it's so, damn, good.
