Thanks to GAF for helping the wait go quicker
A quick update on my experience so far, no game specifics more just overall user experience...
So, I set out to Game at 11:30 and was back home by 12:20 - not too bad at all
The PS4 itself is even smaller and better looking in the flesh than I expected (and I'd already seen it in Game - but nothing like a personal unboxing!) - some real voodoo going on here by Sony, all that power and PSU inside something so sleek.
So as it's standard fair sockets (bar the pseye) I was pretty much all ready setup to go - it took literally 1 minute to plug it in, very nice not to have to worry about wiring everything. Switching on (touch sensitive - no clicking buttons) you're greeted with the sexy blue glow across the PS4 - and in we go!
The DS4 feels nigh on perfect - I've always liked the DS3 but can understand people don't like how small it feels and how it's not quite as 'hand fitting' as the X360 controller. Sony have tweaked the DS4 to what seems an almost perfect size and fit for my hands, thumbs don't touch (even if I try) for those interested (was never an issue for me).
So signing in is a doddle, takes about 2 mins and you're logged in...and the great thing is, if you inserted your network cable half the 1.51 patch is already downloaded

a couple of mins later the patch is down and the PS4 reboots a couple of times and you're good to go. The whole process from starting to unbox to getting onto the store took around 10 mins...and I wasn't hurrying!
So onto the store and (whilst not perfect) the store is a million times faster than the PS3 store. It's exactly the same layout (well, tweaked a little) but you'll be able to find and download stuff much faster (I must confess, of late the PS3 store has been a pain). Of course you can do all your store shopping on PC/tablet anyway - but it's nice to have a faster store.
I downloaded all the free games, FIFA demo and PS+ - it was a nice to see War Thunder was also live, so there's a nice selection of games off the bat. Games seem to download at the same time - so no more singular downloads - they also seem to download really fast (and auto-install)...as a 'measure' all the demos were downloaded and installed within my 1 1/2 hour 'mess around' with the PS4 and weighed in at around 40GB (DC Universe being a monster 28GB!).
So I played a few games just to try them out (and see how the whole process works) - by the time I'd finished on the store Resogun as already downloaded and installed so I had a quick blast on that, I'm not going to go into any game specifics, it's pretty and reminds me of Dropzone - I was a little surprised by the DS4 speaker - it's an interesting idea, not sure if I like it or not, but the quality seems fine. I stuck in Killzone and exited Resogun, checked a message I had received and went to start the game - at this point a loading bar was showing that as soon as I'd entered the disk it had started auto-installing, a nice touch...AC Blag Flag did the same so I guess that's the norm.
So far so impressed. Sony have delivered - to this point, tonight I'll be setting up remote play...
