They're saving that for an audience of hundreds watching a laggy Nintendo Direct.Where did the comic-con thing come from? People really thought they were going to unveil Zelda U at comic-con?
And that includes me.

Straight from Aonuma.
"So my final question, are you already preparing a new announcement for the next E3, in 2014? Maybe a Zelda for the Wii U? How about this?"
"Actually I wanted to prepare something for my visits in Germany and New York, that I can announce. But I was so busy preparing my presentation of A Link Between Worlds, that I can't show you anything "new" today. But you can enjoy my next announcement. As soon as I am back at my office I will start preparing something new that I can show." Eiji Aonuma
Reggie will show up, say they have heard from us, they know where they messed up, and they are release a new NES console that will be internet only that will play all existing Virtual Console titles and dozen more in the months and years to come.
Yes I'm being sarcastic. A little.![]()
Zelda is not as big a series now as Smash has historically been.
Nevermind that people have taken Miyamoto's quote to illogical ends. What he considers "announcing Zelda" is not necessarily "HERE IS A REVEAL TRAILER AND ALSO AN EPIC SOUNDTRACK WHAT'S UP BITCHES." He revealed Skyward Sword with a piece of concept art at a roundtable meeting. That was the announcement of that game.
Link Between Worlds has been worked on for years but we didn't know about it before 2013. It showed up at a Nintendo Direct and released nine months later.

... is this the equivalent of the cool guys inviting the nerd to their party so they can dump pigs blood on them?![]()
At VGX? Yarn Yoshi at VGX? That's too ridiculous even for Nintendo.
Come now.
When I talk about illogical ends, this is at least exhibit B.
First gameplay of the new Smash, and new characters.
That would be quite something if Spike gave Mario the nod over TLoU or GTAV...The cut in this video made it pretty obvious he will be there to take some award for 3D World. Probably Game of the year. I still hope for some Zelda though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the VGX this year -is- an online video. The TV version will follow later and basically be a highlights reel of the three-hour stream. It's all pre-recorded this year -- no ceremony, no live audience, no gimmicks. In other words, it's more like a Nintendo Direct, just with the potential for a MUCH bigger audience, being multiplatform and well-advertised.Probably wouldn't be something like Smash. They like making online videos to announce news for Smash.
So many possibilities with so few realities.
You're looking for an emulator.

Major new games are announced at this show every year. We have every reason to expect that Reggie's presence means that they will show something meaningful.Expecting a new Nintendo game announcement and Zelda in particular some tacky gametrailers show...

Be happy if NoA is allowed to show a new stage of Smash Bros.
The Zelda, a gritty mature reboot by (insert whatever Western third party is the least insane option for Nintendo to pick)
What build-up, exactly?
They showed the Smash trailer, then on the show floor in the press area, they aired a Wii Fit Trainer trailer. For the first day or so, the only shots were off-screen.
well now I'm going to be disapointed if this doesn't happen"And without further ado, an exclusive first look at Nintendo's next project, right here on VGX and Spike TV!"
An empty warehouse. Bill Trinen stands clad only in old blue overalls and a green hat with an "L" crudely marked on the front in marker. His eyes are missing. In his hands are a silver platter bearing a Pizza Hut pizza pie.
Reggie descends from the ceiling on a golden rope. He carefully opens up the pizza box, thoughtfully selects a slice, turns toward the camera, raises the slice to his mouth, and slowly eats, his eyes never blinking. He consumes the entire pie in this fashion over the course of 15 minutes. He closes the box neatly, and climbs away again.
The sightless Bill throws the pizza box to the ground and turns over the silver tray.
"gba games on vc" is splattered on the bottom in an unidentifiable fluid
