Nintendo has shown time and time again, that they've completely lost touch with audiences. They're still high on the Wii fumes and in their drunken stupor they might actually believe that DKCR2 is going to interest people there.
 
Reggie was just on Gametrailers less then two weeks ago showing off Donkey Kong, the same episode in which he announced that he would have something special for the award show. I think it's more likely to be Mario Kart or Smash Brothers.

Another thing: If it was just for a game we already know plenty about, I see no reason they would be keeping the title under wraps.

Wow, that is not a great list, seems to be mostly games we've already seen a fair bit of. Not to exciting when the lineup of trailers are all for early/Spring 2014 games. Holding out for Smash/Uncharted/Fallout 4/ etc. to show up.

Nice to see Nintendo step up their presence at widely reported events. I would like to see them show multiple titles, not just a small trailer for Donkey Kong or Smash. Zelda should have its world premier trailer shown as that could overshadow pretty much every other game on the night.
 
March release date announcement for Bayonetta 2 and a new trailer.

Heh, Miyamoto says a lot of things. Eiji Aonuma said he'd like to discuss more about the game at next year's E3, but its hard to say if it will be ready in time to be shown when the development team only just fully reunited about a month or so ago. Skyward Sword was still in the planning stages back in November 2008. By E3 2009, most of the aspects of the game were progressing well, but the graphics weren't fully developed and it still needed to be polished. It wasn't shown off until E3 2010, but didn't come out for release until 17 months later.

I agree. As I said earlier, hopefully this means we'll see them on stage at E3 2014.

I'm guessing they might have one new reveal, maybe two. I guess we need to wait a few more days to have a clearer picture, but it seems like a slow year for the show.
 
I'm expecting a NIntendoland @ e3 type reveal....

Id imagine a cranky kong reveal would crash gaf, just because of all the people going to type and read about how out of touch Nintendo is.
 
It's gotta be Donkey Kong. Why would they skip it and show something else when DKC is the next big game out? It's coming out in like 2 months.

unless it's completely over-hauled into something brilliant I can't see it appealing to anything more then its current fan base.
 
Yep, based on this new information I'm starting to feel pretty confident that it is going to be DKCTF trailer revealing Cranky Kong as the 4th playable character. The fact that Reggie teased this surprise at the VGX during a GTTV show that was dedicated almost entirely to Tropical Freeze just furthers my belief.

These games were greenlit before Wii U even launched. You could argue Iwata lacked the foresight, but expecting a sudden change in direction is not reasonable; games take time to develop and all of their teams are accounted for.

That would seem like a waste of good advertising to me. This is kind of a big event, and they can get a lot of good coverage if they show something big. If it's just another DK trailer, when they've already started showing off the game more, then that doesn't seem like a smart decision to me.

It's going to be. This is how Nintendo works- they think it's 2007 and the IP's that did well last generation are still all they need. Nintendo has never been guilty of knowing what the North American hardcore audience wants.
 
It's Donkey Kong.

Anyone who is let down by that only has themselves to blame (or God).

The leak killed the expected hype but that was in fact the big secret.

But seriously why were some of you expecting stuff like Zelda or New Ips to get revealed here? That's not how Nintendo roles. And they sure as hell wouldn't let NOA be the ones to reveal anything. Use your brains and it will prevent a lot of hype let downs
