Sure, but Donkey Kong? They have other stuff already announced, that is much more popular and could benefit from an event like this a lot more, like MK8 or SSB.

It's amazing to me that people consider a list like that to be exciting. It explains why Nintendo is perceived how it is.
 
Everything points at Donkey Kong.
  • Rumors about Cranky Kong
  • Donkey Kong is out in a couple of months, perfect time to advertise
  • "New look at an upcoming Wii U game" makes it sound like we've seen the game already, but there is a new aspect (Cranky Kong)
 
Unless Nintendo is changing how they treat award shows, events like E3 and Gamescom, why would they show something like Zelda or a new game at VGX? Why give out the biggest stuff at someone elses show when they are so inlove with their own Directs? Its almost like Iwata loves the camera more than he should.

Likely get Cranky, or a remixed trailer for a already announced and revealed game.
 
Donkey Kong would be a total waste of time. It has to be a game like Zelda or X -- those will appeal to the people viewing the awards show. Donkey Kong will just reinforce negative stereotypes that your typical Spike viewer/COD Dudebro perpetuates. Don't do it, Reggie. It'll cause irreparable damage.

I do. I watched it without reading impressions at the same time. I was super happy to see everything they showed: 3D World, Mario Kart 8, SSB4, X and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze all looked phenomenal. Came here to read impressions and this place had exploded from negativity. I just didn't understand. Then followed a 6 month debate whether 3D World is shit or the shit. Weid stuff all around.
 
Zelda U was shown as that tech deo right guys.....right?

In all honesty i'll have lost complete faith with the Nintendo head honchos if it is Donkey Kong. They've been staring down the barrell of a gun for a while now, and if the only thing they wheel out in perhaps the biggest gaming show of the holiday period is DK, then they may as well just call it quits.

Smash Bros is needed imo. I think something like this would be ideal....

-Donkey Kong Wii U Trailer showcasing new levels and new playable character. Trailer end

-Donkey Kong pops up again, but this time it's his Smash Bros model. New Smash Bros trailer showing new environments, new modes, new characters and looking glorious

It has to be Smash, it has to be. Anything else and Nintendo fucks it up.

Not that I mind Tropical Freeze, in fact, it will be fantastic, but for the VGX, it has to be at least a new Smash trailer with a brand new character revealed. And NOT Mii!
 
The only thing Reggie should be coming to this kind of show with is either Metroid or Zelda.

If it's Donkey Kong, I feel extremely sorry for NoA.

Those aren't close to release.

This is how Nintendo functions. Sm3dw kinda went into hibernation until like a month or so from release. That's how they market their games basically.

I'm just tired of all the NINTENDO IS OUT OF TOUCH stuff when the main person to blame for being let down is yourselves lol. I would love to be wrong but I'm not about to lose my shit because Nintendo is nintendo ING it up.

Please don't let it be Donkey Kong. The VGX is not the place to put out more information regarding that game. The audience there and largely watching will even give a damn. Don't be stupid Nintendo.

By the way I thought you wanted to sell your Wii U. Why didn't you do it or why do you continue expressing such great love to Wii U threads even if you don't own the console anymore?
 
Now everybody is hating again Donkey Kong again. Of course has Nintendo to advertise their NEXT big game to sell some consoles. Its that easy. The tried to do something else with the january direct with all those title that are in development...but it didnt turned out to gather any interest, so their back to their old strategy. So its kind of normal that they act like that and just show Donkey Kong.

Yeah no new announcements at E3 really. Donkey Kong by Retro was a completely surprise to everyone though.

X first debuted in the January Direct with a trailer. Mario Kart and Mario by EAD Tokyo were mentioned there too.
 
Guys, they showed and talked about donkey kong on the very night reggie fucking teased something, its not donkey kong.

Maybe they've noticed that everything announced at VGX is usually for the next holiday season and beyond? I mean, the big reveals last year were MGSV and Dark souls 2, not even close to launch.
