Now granted, I do think that Nintendo should show something more for that audience...like Zelda or Metroid or even Smash Bros. But still, no one is going to tell Nintendo what they are allowed and not allowed to show, period. I'm pretty positive the Dorito King doesn't tell Sony, Microsoft, Konami, Square Enix, Bioware, etc etc what they can and can't show. Nintendo is no different here. Come on, son.

Most if not all of the big reveals on the past were already known. We knew there would be an uncharted 3. Mass effect 3. And such... So yeah while it was big names... It was known names.

Maybe as far as marketing/promotions go, sure. Anything else is handled directly by NCL. Retro Studios is a subsidiary of NCL, not NOA.
we didn't even know anything was gonna be there at all. cranky kong is amazing anyways. this is no zelda u footage or the official x trailer, but it's still cool.

Uh, this is exactly how it works. It's not Nintendo's show. Geoff/Spike has veto power over any content that's pitched to them.
Granted, it's a coup for Geoff to finally get Nintendo to show something, so there's likely a bit of leeway here.
The playable character in X really got me. And you're forgetting New Super DK U.

It couldn't hurt, but they don't need some tacky GT event and considering that everyone tries to separate ,,their audience'' in arguments all the time shows that this event isn't that significant.

No. However I don't think it would be out of bounds for him to express to Reggie as to what type of event it really is and what the audience is going to be. That way Nintendo can show up with something appropriate for that audience. That way they don't show up with something super light hearted and end up a lone island in a sea filled with RPGS, FPS, Actions games, etc. The odd one out that the audience can point to and laugh at. Something like Smash Bros (new trailer with a new character ala Mega Man reveal), Zelda, Bayonetta 2 (needs more of a push then DK ever would), X, SMT x FE (we've seen nothing regarding this yet) would be ideal. I don't think another 2D platformer would be.
