Can you imagine that this is your houseboat.. Damn.

Aw damn that is the worst. I see on twitter a lot of pictures from amsterdam and rotterdam with a lot of tree's hitting the floor.

Sigh, train lines entirely uncommittal for the rest of the entire day advising travel tomorrow. Was supposed to travelling home north tonight from London, but guess I'll have to do it tomorrow. Hope my cat can put up with another day without food :/

Jesus I can feel the walls tremble when the wind hits the building. Also, the pressure difference drained the toilet, which seems pretty surreal to me.

This is intense.

Just read that the coastguard are looking for a teenager swept out to sea
At the risk of sounding insensitive, why on earth would you go into the sea during a storm!?

My SO's co-worker knew the guy who died in Watford from tree fall, rather sad, the 17 year old is also tragic.

Some damage around my home, two of my garden fence panels were unhinged and my SOs motorbike was blown over. Everything was calm when I went to sleep last night, then slept through all of it. I'm working from home now as the trains are still fucked, probably will be all day.

We went to sea during storms when i was younger. Dumb? maybe, but it's just such an amazing sight.

20 minute trip turned into a 2.5 hour one, lol public transport. Happy that I even got home.

A tree branch hit my parents car, 2.5k damage. They really don't have the money to pay for it :(

And I saw alot of turned over trees everywhere on my way back. A shitload of branches and roof bricks as well. Happy that I didn't get hit with anything during my uni-train station walk :P

THAT was a storm? Da fuck. That was pathetic. Did the meteorologists just screw up or something?
Did you not read other posts in this thread or something?

Sorry for the harsh reply, but I hate "It was nothing for me so it was nothing for everyone" posts regarding weather phenomena.

I'm glad for you that the effects of the storm were minimal. However that isn't the case for other people. Where I live we got the weather that was forecast.

In many areas people are without power, there's lots of property damage, travel disruption and two people are dead.

Well, it's still going on here and I need to go out, so wish me luck. I will try to avoid roads and paths with trees in their surroundings.

Who is awake at 5:30 am to 6:00 am? Surely the storm would afford you an excuse for a lie-in at the very least.

It may have done overnight. I woke up for 8:00 am and by that time nothing was really happening.

Who saying I'm awake. I'm just said the storm only last in very early morning, lot of people thought it will come on monday daytime.

It seems Code Red [the most severe weather warning category] has been downgraded to orange for the Netherlands, seems like the worst is over. Still very heavy winds expected until tonight.

I get going to the beach and watching the waves but to actually wade in is just asking for trouble. I hope the boy is found but I can't imagine the recovery rate would be very high

We got off light around here but it the wind woke me up a few times in the night because it sounds like the damn apocalypse was going on out there. Never heard wind like that before.

Now it's clear and sunny, albeit really cold.

Quite heavy rain over lunch, but now... clear blue skies. Looks like I've been fortunate, nothing much has affected me.

Cyclist narrowly escaping a falling tree:

Came here to post this. That guy was so incredibly lucky. I always feel like none of that could happen to me. But seeing how fast and easily such a huge tree is brought to the ground made me realize that's just not true.

Here in The Hague the storm seems to have passed its peak, this morning was crazy though. As I live 28 stories high, the wind and rain was blowing against my window harder than ever.

I've never been involved with a storm before, this morning was very scary.

The clouds were moving so fast, I've never seen anything like that.

The Dungeness B nuclear power station in Kent is using diesel generators to power its site after both reactors shut down automatically due to a power cut
Still makes me nervous reading that haha.

About 580,000 homes are without power apparently (Sounds a bit high to me).

Also four people have died.

BBC

Seen the Sun paper?

"Warned over 26 year storm"
"Even Michael Fish says don't go out"
"Blew Murder"

Yah da, Yah da.

My biggest issue with that: Holy hell, it's 26 years since 1987? That's a really vivid memory of mine, it has no right to be over a quarter of a century ago.

On my way back from Enfield Town I saw two rather big branches on the road and a fucking tree in the river.

A tree.....

in the river.....

Fuck me. x_x

Damn.

I live in Bow with almost zero damage at all. It would of been pretty cool to see a uprooted tree. I never seen that before.

Northampton Square where my main uni building is had some trees and stuff blown about. They had to shut it down apparently. Got an email saying so, didn't go to that area today. There was a big branch fallen on the pavement near the building I went to. Had to step on to the damn road to get around it.

Was driving at 11PM last night, absolutely terrifying, couldn't see a thing. I also dodged an airborne bin lid on the way to work this morning.

This is my mother's co-worker's house. Poor Joop.

To be fair, it is actually pretty funny considering the city deemed it okay for that large, pretty heavy tree to stand right next to a boat (set location, like a house) , biding it's time.

And it's just one motherfucking tree.

His possessions are fucked though. That sucks. (older photographs, that sort of thing)

sorry Joop

I am almost afraid to go out and check the roof. Looking outside earlier I could see the neighbors roof starting to dismantle with pieces falling off.

I came across a tree blocking the road here in Worthing on the way to work, had to drive round a lamp post/road sign and between a car on the pavement to get past it.

Lol a hotel I drove past called The Double Tree Hotel actually had a tree through it's roof. Wish I could have taken a picture to post :P

Hamburg Germany... yesterday nobody was able to get home. Train station exploded with thousands of people which had to wait for hours till night to get on something on the way to home. Needed 5 1/2 hours (only need 30 minutes for my way).

Also 7 people died.
