Warning: "largest storm since 1987" set to batter Britain

Roads are good and my bus is pretty empty as well considering it's supposed to be rush hour. I think either people can't get to the bus or they all caught earlier ones expecting problems. Storm was overhyped here in the west midlands.

Portsmouth here, woke up expecting to see utter devastation, what I actually saw was nothing. Everything looks exactly the same as before this 'super storm' hit. How boring.

Got up expecting to see devastation, turns out it's just a bit wet and there are lots of leaves flying around.

Some roads in Cardiff are flooded, but otherwise we seem to have escaped armageddon. Good thing it's half term, few less cars on the road during rush hour.

The coffee van that comes to our office every day has cancelled because of the weather, even though right now it's sunny, calm and warm outside. No coffee means it really is the end of the world.

Great now my uni is sending out emails saying some classes could be cancelled. Lol. Give me a list. I'd rather not have to travel to Angel if I don't fucking have to.

Found this on facebook. Caused disruptions around my area.

You're going to arrive. There's going to be no classes. You're going to like it.

Fuck me, a plant pot and two of our garden chairs were blown over. When you see devastation on such a scale, it's hard to summon the will to rebuild.

Don't forget it's also half term today, so transport will usually be quieter.
No problems getting in, annoyed that Ilford was closed, but got on the train at Gants Hill. Smooth sailing into Canary Wharf, the office is a ghost town though.

Odd that the news said peak time in London would be 8 to 10. Seems a lot weaker now then it was about 3 hours ago.

Next to no wind in Aberdeenshire last night but a bit of my Sky dish still somehow snapped off. I think it got caught up in the hype :(

Saw lots of fallen branches and bin lids on the walk to the station. A big tree had blown completely over in the station car park.

No central line, been on a bus for 45 mins :/

North London here and there's nothing. No trees down, no roads closed (near me at least), it's just a normal day...albeit slightly more windier.

Rail companies stopped service for this? Embarrassing...

It's not even windy in Oxford, really. Bit damp, maybe.

Train services seem to have taken a real hit - Greater Anglia now not running any services until 12pm at the earliest, across the entire network. Don't know if they're playing it safe, or the drivers just fancied a few more hours in bed.

Looks like I'm working from home then...

There are some trees down on the rail. Maybe there is a big one need to time to remove it away.

South West Trains not running any services until 11 - I left my work laptop at work on Friday as I was going out so can't work from home. Looks like a half day for me!

Edit: They tweeted earlier that they had 29 trees down on the lines. I imagine it's the same for a lot of the train companies.

Crikey, that's fair enough then.

Was very windy round here (North Herts) at about 6 - 7. Was watching my garden fence bend and hoping it would survive. Looks ok. The street was littered with bins - a lot had fallen over and shed rubbish everywhere. Luckily today is bin day, and the binmen came and tided everything up!

Yep. But I did my due diligence and went to the station to hear that news myself. My wife did ask me to explain my reasoning but the clocks changing gave me a bit of a boost and I enjoyed the short walk.

Now to attend to the small tree that blew down in my front drive. I might take some photos to share the story with my kid when he's older. After all it's not every day you experience STORMAGEDDON.

The worst thing about the weather in South London is that I forgot my sunglasses.

That the Northern Line is an overcrowded disaster because no overground trains are running is just embarrassing.

I have to go out to Tesco to grab mum a Birthday card.

Allegedly, there's a million treee on the ground. TIME TO FIGHT BITCHES.

Got kinda windy here in East London at about 5-7AM, but there's pretty much no visible damage. Rain wasn't even that bad. No power outages or anything.

Weak shit, storm.

The worst thing about it is I've woken up with a cold. ;_;

Yeah, there's a few trees down here on Old Ford Street, a few cars had to drift past it.

Other than that, all clear, I guess.

My boss called off work today. I only found out halfway to work which is a pain but can't argue with a day off. Can't even see why it's been called off

Had the best drive to work in about a month thanks to the extinction event making other people leave early or stay home. Plus it's half-term, sweeeeeeeeeeet.

HEY YOU GUYS FORGOT IT WAS AUTUMN RIGHT?!

Who is the stupid person responsible for overhyping this as the worst storm since 87? I want to know the person so I should never trust a word coming out of his/her shit-smeared mouth. I don't watch news
because it's bad for your mental health
so I don't need any more fear mongering spilling to people I know in my life.

This is more disappointing than Prometheus/Avatar/Ass Creed/Man of Steel/Public Enemies/Bloc Party/Muse/Superman Returns/Transformers/Death Note/Marvel Civil War/Southland Tales/Greenberg/Tideland/The Limits of Control all combined.

Bit too late, it happened about 5.30am to 6am.

Got 2 small trees down, and free watercan :)

Who is awake at 5:30 am to 6:00 am? Surely the storm would afford you an excuse for a lie-in at the very least.

Huh, my friend in Oxford just told me their kitchen windows was flung from it's place from the wind.

It may have done overnight. I woke up for 8:00 am and by that time nothing was really happening.
