corrosivefrost, I just wrote a huge reply about Spelunky to you that is gone, finito, dead, deleted by accident
Meh, let's mention this quickly then.
I don't play games I don't enjoy. Spelunky has one negative aspect, but I love all its other bits. I just think its challenge is unfair. I appreciate when your time is respected in games. I don't have problem when some games don't let you save (like shmup shooters), but not when a game is actively trying to get you killed. It's silly how you can die in so many different ways, also when things are out of your hand. Like for instance, when the orange frog dies near a shop by accident and the owner blames you for it. I literally started a level once, hearing the owner going crazy from far away (without my doing). Or when the enemies die, their blood can splatter near dangerous bombs and then you're dead. Or when you can also kill yourself with your own weapons, even when throwing rocks they can hurt you etc. It's too much that you can die from literally anything when you can't save. Not saying that you can't deal with it and eventually get used to it, but it's unnecessary to artificially extend a game's length that way.
About playing the same levels, yes they're random generated. This is the reason why I can tolerate playing through them over and over again, it's fresh enough to do that. But it's not the same as having new theme levels with new enemies and items.
That said *gasp* I still like the game a lot! There's something irresistible about it. So don't let my negative focus give you a different impression. Otherwise I wouldn't be playing the game.
And the shotgun? I was having bad luck getting it for a long time. The shops didn't have it and the graves didn't show up anymore after my last reply. That is untill the last playthrough, I finally have my shortcut! Getting the first 2 donations for the temple was a breeze. The last one remains *gulp*
I've made it to the temple a few times now, and I got to so see more of it. I realize it would be difficult to try and go through it with a shortcut, but it's handy for practice.
Oh and as for Gravity Rush DLC, it's been a long time since the game was released. I feel kinda over that game and don't remember story details as much now. But it was great and the DLC pre-order was good. I'm sure it will all return once playing through those DLC's. I think I might get the other 2. Thanks!
