Games you remember, names you don't

I have a couple games that names slip my mind

1.This one is an N64 game, and I think the character was boy or girl. They wore a white outfit and had purple or green hair?It was 2.3d and I remember a giant robot for a boss.

2.This was an ps1 game that was on the demo disc.It was a side scrolling shooter were you controlled a small ship with a gun that hanged from its bottom.I remember the stage on the demo was a futuristic looking city at night.

3.This game was a ps1 game...all I remember is that the main guy was a purple ninja.

4.this last one was a game on ps1 and it was over the top view and Hercules was the main character.

1- Mischief Makers?

2- Einhander?

3- Ninja- Shadow of Darkness?

4- Herc's Adventures?

Dude,spot on with everything!

I don't remember much of this game besides one of the first few levels. I believe it was in the PS1 [?]

Basically it starred a kid, I think his design was similar to somebody from Mother. His weapon was a bubblegun.

This part sounds like Rascal.

And in the level, which if I recall correctly, looked like a deformed/spooky house he had to fight a decently big crab. I think it was a grandma, and the crab thing I assume was because she pinched cheeks.

This part sounds like the Fairly Oddparents episode "Power Mad."

Okay so there was an N64 platformer. You controlled like a dog or a sheep or something. I am not sure if it was Space Station Silicon Valley but it might have been. There were lots of green backgrounds. There was a sheep, I remember that. Some kinds of pens that animals were kept in. The levels had various objectives. I think it took place in space. I just really don't know if it was SSSV. Is there another, similar game it might've been?

From what I can recall those are exact elements of early parts if Space Station: Silicon Valley. I don't think you'll find another game that matches the sum of those parts.

Cant remember much details since i played it when i was like 7, and since i was that age i don't think i made it through more than a tenth of the game.

It was a pc game. It was set in an snowy landscape and looked similar to the arctic. I think (and that's a big think) that it could have been set in Greenland. The first part consisted of you on some kind of wooden ship, perhaps viking, and in a large narrow ice cavern which was just large enough for the ship to pass through. then you move on to a snowy area which appeared to be in a canyon of some sort. i remember a bridge made of ice and... nothing else. that's pretty much all i can remember. I think it played from a first person perspective but was an adventure game very similar to the crystal key.

That was probably it, then. I'm sure you're right. Thank you. It's just strange because the title itself doesn't ring much of a bell. I must've been pretty young when I played it, though. Thanks!

Here's someone playing at the start showing the first objective, starting as a dog, and sheep being around in a green area: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=s_S8lPYI3fc#t=205

Just figured now I'm home and can easily get a video for you I'd see if this helps settle your mind.

There was a game for PS1 where you played a little boy with a laser gun and a colander on his head. Your dog gets kidnapped during an eclipse and you have to go and rescue him. It was a side-scroller kind of in the style of Oddworld, and I'm pretty sure the cover of the game was the boy and his dog in front of a red theater curtain.

I rented it a bunch when I was younger, and the name's been bugging me for years.

Heart of Darkness. A classic.

There was a game I played on the original playstation with my brother. It was a 2D co-op game where both players played as submarines; once was blue and the other was red or orange I think. You could shoot torpedoes and drop bombs. I remember it looking kind of Metal Slug-esque. I remember one boss fight in particular where you were in a vertical shaft and you had to keep going up because the boss was climbing up from the bottom. There were a lot of boss fights, from what I recall.

In the hunt.
Indeed made by the same people who later made metal slug.

Ok guys,I have another game! This was a Ps2 game and the Main guy had braids and wore a yellow vest.I think the game was about his gauntlet he had on,and how he need to save the galaxy.I also think the main bad guy looked like buzz lightyear's Z dude.

Do you remember the system you played it on, PC, consoles, arcades? What year did you played the game? Even a rough estimate can be helpful.

It was on the PC. But i completely lost a sense of when I played it. I'm quite sure it was pre-1995, because around that time we bought a game called "Expect No Mercy" (fighting game) which was absolutely terrible (while I had high expectations). Probably also pre-1993, since Myst 1/11th hour/7th guest looked so much more beautiful. I honestly don't even know if it was on a CD or Floppy disk, but I doubt it would fit on a floppy.

What viewpoint did the game have - in cockpit, behind car, topdown etc. Also what year roughly?

I believe it was only in cockpit.

Maybe Badlands?

No sorry, it was with cockpit view :)

Just adding my original post so people don't have to fetch through posts to search what we are talking about.

I suddenly thought of a racing game that I used to play quite a bit, but I really can't remember the name.

In this game you had cars (who would've guessed) for which you could buy guns (or maybe you only had a railgun?), which you could also upgrade. The tracks on which you drove had loopings and after races you were in some kind of bar/tavern where you could buy the upgrades etc. I think there was also some 'sexy chick' there, but maybe that depended on the character you chose (and myself, as young and innocent as i was, mostly chose her).

I'm quite certain the game was "2D", but I'm not 100% sure.

Edit: I think you could also buy oil to hinder your opponents.

Thanks for helping people ^^ Really can't stand it that I don't know what the game was and I hope I am not derailing you by something that my mind made more awesome than it was :P

Stab in the dark, here: Deathtrack?

Here's a game a remember, and a name I don't;

It was a demo played for PS2.

  • You play as a red headed women who rides dragons
  • When riding a dragon, you conduct aerial combat.
  • You can land your dragon and dismount, conducting ground combat with a sword, or range combat with a bow.
  • You're dragon is controlled by AI on the ground and can fight with you.
  • Most of the combat took place in caves and what have you, so the dragon could not follow.

EDIT: After sifting through a long list on Wikipedia, it's Drakan: The Ancients' Gates. What an amazing game.

Drakan.

A couple of PSX games I can't remember from when I was a kid, I probably played these on demo disks:

  • A game where you're a dude rolling a cube around a grid-based playing field. From memory parts of the grid could only be walked over a certain number of times, maybe there was a timing element to it. The graphics were very simple and abstract if that helps.
  • Game where you controlled a small squad of little soldier dudes, you could switch control between characters at will. The main goal was to collect cubes that dropped on the map and arrange them into different configurations on building pad things to make weapons or extra soldiers. It had a colourful cutesy art style but I remember they had sweary voice samples which I thought were awesome as a kid
  • Top down game where you controlled a wooden ship going through obstacle courses.
  • Side-scrolling rhythm game where you're running along a thin wire, super simple art, I think you could use your own music somehow?

Edit:

Oh and one more I played on a friend's GameCube, you controlled a dog, maybe a beagle? You were on a farm and could find collectibles and stuff using a sort of smell vision mode.

Team Buddies

Edit: The ship one could be Overboard!

PC game I played maybe around 1995-6, I think it was a point and click puzzle adventure of sorts. The characters were a dog and a bloke in a white jumpsuit and a visor...maybe they were from the future and travelling through time.....I just can't remember it clearly and its bugging me for ages. I remember getting stuck on a part and now the completionist in me wants to make up for my idiot kid self.

The Orion Conspiracy?

Also neither of those. Thanks though guys :)

I'm pretty sure the game looked better than Deathtrack, but not as good as MegaRace. I see MegaRace does have a girl, but as far as I can remember, the characters were drawn and not real people.

I've been searching quite a bit through MobyGames and googling in general but couldn't find the game. I was gonna mention these games but they miss some of the details, which is wierd.

The thing is, the bit about the girl in a bar kind of sounds familiar to me but I don't really know. Do you perhaps remember the drawing style of the characters, was it more Japanese, anime style or more of a western style?

Rock-N-Roll Racing?

I've never played Rock-N-Roll Racing 2, but maybe that?

If you chose Katarina, her face would be visible when upgrading your vehicle, iirc. I wouldn't say she's hot... but on an old SDTV using analog you may not have been able to tell she was half cat... (No offense if you find cat hybrids hot.)

The thing is, VaizardNL thinks it's a first person car combat game, like Test Drive with guns so to speak. But maybe he's remembering two distinct games?

Also, the road loops sound very specific, something like Hard Drivin' I guess? I don't remember a 2D first person driving game having these kinds of looped stages, they're usually 3D as far as the environment is concerned.

Hard Drivin' seems to come close, but it's not it. It probably was 3D, but with the ugly Textures back in the day it might be that my mind thinks it was 2D'ish.

@Nostremitus haha no, It wasn't a catlike woman like Katarina in the game you mentioned :P

My mind could be making stuff up; but I think you could select a total of 3 characters. 2 guys and 1 girl. I'm not sure if the weapons were different per car or if you could just buy ammunition for your weapon (gatling gun?). I'm quite sure you could also buy Oil, but I don't know if it was used against your enemies or if you just simply needed it for your car.

The girl in the bar was kind of cartoonish. Something like the image below, but also not really the same? :P God i'm helpful.., but it's been such a long time ago and I wasn't that old at the time.

DeathTrack?

Edit: Nevermind, already guessed by someone else.

Hmm, is it Have a N.I.C.E. Day?

frxICwS.jpg

EDIT:
I has loops in the tracks, a machinegun weapon I think and upgrading as far as I can see. I think I've read about the game a couple of times in some magazines but never played it myself. Released in 1997 though, but it still might be the game you're looking for.

Haha yes that's the game! I can't believe how off I was with my description. Terribly sorry guys, my brain has been playing jedi mind tricks on me =) Thanks a lot for the help everyone who searched :)

Here's one that is on the tip of my brain, I want to see if it's on GoG or not but can't remember the name.

It was a third person adventure game.
Your character and enemies were made out of dozens of spheres and ovals at the joints, giving the game some really impressive physics (at the time).
It was a fantasy setting. I think you had to rescue a girl
Not many enemies, but there was a quasi-Minotaur that would show up at various places and really fuck you up. He seemed to be the main antagonist but didn't speak, think Pyramid Head from Silent Hill.
It was really difficult, one or two hits and you were dead. Combat was swordplay I believe or various melee attacks (punches, kicks)
You could drink potions to make yourself small and get into areas
Game started with an E, and had a really lame name, like Exotica, or Escorotica or something that made zero sense in the context of the game.

I rented (yes, rented) this game from the local video store back around 1990-1992, they had an entire PC games section which is hilarious in hindsight.
