They're all begin for...

I mean heck, there's a Minecraft happening for the Vita and it can't even sell more that 75k in November... If you're going to piss money down the drain like that...Why not?

WiiU Sports Golf seems like a shoe-in. A playable build was recently being shown off at an NOA event, and WiiU Sports Club is scheduled for maintenance tomorrow. I'm expecting an announcement + it's release tomorrow.

How did Animal Crossing end up selling on the Wii? All I remember is how pissed fans were after E3 when Reggie said they were making games for the core, they showed Animal Crossing for Pete's sake!
I don't know how City Folk did, but they bankrolled New Leaf without hesitation and that game appears to have sold gangbusters, at least in Japan. Or at least, I recall reading it sold out in short order, even cards for the digital copies.

Regarding LM2, that's a game where 1) it has a Mario character in the title, and everything Mario goes on WiiU, and 2) it's a substantial adventure that had a long development cycle and would only benefit from WiiU. So yeah, I could see Nintendo milking it for two platforms like they milked Donkey Kong Country Returns, even if it is just a year later. The WiiU needs titles now.

And here's my updated elevator pitch for Excite Wave, with new details on the benefits of the Seabreacher format:

EXCITE WAVE, from Monster Games, for WiiU:

The spiritual successor to Wave Race AND Excite Truck, with Innespace Seabreachers as the watercraft (used like the Kawasaki license in WR64). Weave in and out of buoys, negotiate rollicking wave physics, and dive in and out of the sea. The dolphin-like submersibles default to the surface, but alternate paths are available underwater, where a separate track runs parallel to the one on the surface. Increase speed and avoid disqualification by following the buoys; stick landings parallel to the waves for a turbo boost; and hit trigger points to transform the seascape in real-time, conjuring up whirlpools, waterfalls, waterspouts and landmasses that split the waterways in two. There are also numerous ways to accrue points, like performing tricks or narrowly avoiding crashes, so winning is not simply about placing first. Of course, there is also a "Classic" mode that eschews the Excite trappings for simple, straight-forward, buoy-based racing. Online and in HD on the WiiU, the title also supports Off-TV Play and Miiverse. The game distinguishes itself from other racers on the market with its unique focus on wave-based racing, diving underwater and catching major air.

And while we are in la la land.

I'd like to see them announce that you can use the standard WiiU as a dev unit. Admission and the tools are free and open to everyone.

Remember people, 7 minutes spent on explaining the Pokemon Bank. 3 minutes of Iwata posing the rhetorical question "Have you listened to the new holiday music in the eshop"?

1/3 of your Nintendo Direct right there.

Sad.
Probably won't get a new trailer until E3 now. /sadface

They're coming up on a year since revealing that game and still it has no title. If there's no more information on that game until e3, it'll have been about a year and a half of calling it X :-P At that point, it'll have been know as "X" for longer than it'll have been known for its real name when it finally releases.

Ah fuck I forgot they might actually dedicate time to this, but that's what Pokémon directs are for.

Hm...

As of May 2009, Animal Crossing: City Folk has sold 3.38 million copies worldwide.

Its reception was similar to Wii Music's though, which came out around the same time. It sold millions, but was considered a disappointment for not moving hardware and not matching expectations.

City Folk was great..for helping me fall asleep.
Yeah, City Folk was terrible. If you ask me to name one Nintendo product that is a blatant cash grab/half-assed effort, it's that game.

New Leaf, on the other hand, is by far and away the best in the series and a huge step forward on every front.

After Iwata announces they have now bought SEGA it will cut to Kamiya announcing a sequel to TW101. It is creatively called The Wonderful 102. And he will also announce the Bayonetta Wii U port. "OUT NOW" on Nintendo eShop. US$29. But will be on sale for half price until Christmas.

nice, it´s my birthday tomorrow so it better be good

Reggie, don´t dissapoint.

I want Metroid Prime X (prequel, sequel, remake(mastered)
F-Zero GX or a successor.

Gamecube games on eShop?

C´mon, it´s my birthday so I can hope :)

Doesn't the minecraft creator hate Nintendo or some such shit? But yeah, the Wii U would be perfect for minecraft from an interface perspective.

It sounds like he plays major hardball in terms of getting sweetheart deals and getting a larger cut of "exclusive" profits. Can't blame the man, if you got something everyone wants, sell to the highest bidder.

My heart.

Surely Treasure must have some Wii U project that deserves to be revealed soon...?

The way I see it Nintendo need to save any megatons they may have until E3 to counteract the nukes that both MS and Sony will be launching. I wouldn't expect much from them until then.

This Direct will just be Donkey Kong and Mario Kart.

And New Super Mario Bros U 2.
