Rosalina AND LUMA Confirmed For Smash Bros!

What I don't get is why people would rather have two Mary-Sue characters like Peach and Rosalina instead of a strong, confident woman like Daisy.

Yes, Peach is such a Mary Sue when she's an airhead who nearly always gets kidnapped.

Do people just not know what the phrase means?

I refuse to believe anyone gives or gave a shit about Daisy.

Even with interesting shit like new characters, I get the feeling it will just be another Brawl with lots of content but subpar mechanics.

Seeing the amount of thought they evidently put into Rosalina's moves and mechanics I'm willing to believe that they're aiming for that middle-ground between the two.

Rosalina is more Jojo than Ice Climbers. Don't worry too much, guys.
I'm confident Ice Climbers will return. Rosalina & Luma shows the game can handle gameplay similar to Ice Climbers (which shouldn't be surprising -- 3DS is extremely capable), and at the same time her fighting style is different from Ice Climbers. Ice Climbers are also Nintendo history and one of Sakurai's crowning Smash Bros. achievements (a franchise revival like Pit, etc, and wholly unique gameplay).

They will return.

With the wii u games being easy to patch, I do not think that will be an issue.

If brawl was on Wii U then tripping would have been patched out quickly.

What I want to know is where the fuck the hoard of Smash fans that want this to basically be mugen come from?

Like 5 or 7 years ago no one would take "More Mario, More Zelda, More Pokemon!" requesters seriously. Historic IP haters were very rare in the community as well. We had an abundance of creative topics on franchises and movesets. Many haters of classic and old franchises, or franchises that are new. Everything has been reduce to a joke now.

Yes, Sakurai did state that Smash Wii U was going to be a mixture between Melee and Brawl:

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20..._strike_a_balance_between_hardcore_and_casual

Then when it came around to making Brawl, this was a game that was targeting a Wii audience where there were a lot of beginner players, so it sort of leaned a little bit more in that direction.

So now, for this time around, we're sort of aiming for something that is in between those as far as the speed of the game. Because I don't really think this time we're in a situation where we're trying to accommodate that many new players.

- Tripping is removed
- He acknowledges that this game will appease both hardcore and casual fans
- Those Rosalina combos

I should be more excited for this game but it doesn't hurt to keep expectations in check.

Was already getting Wii U day one, but this made it so I will get the 3DS version now as well.

You almost made up for choosing Rock over X, Sakurai. Almost.

Happy thought: all of the rumors that the only six newcomers would be WFT, Villager, MM, Little Mac, Pac-Man, and Mii have been debunked.

I'm just keeping my hype levels low after what happened with Brawl.

Is it just me, or does Smash 4 look like Brawl 2.0?

From the trailers, it seems the gameplay is still rather slow, and the animations and sounds appear to be remarkably similar as well.

Okay, I'm calmed with the Rosalina Hype. I gotta to hand it to Sakurai that he surprised me with Rosalina and Luna and their movesets were fabulous!

Honestly, I had a similar concept that I had for Palutena where she would summon Centurion to assist her in the battle, which would provided the unique gameplay, but now I see that Rosalina had a similar concept but way different than what I had in my mind.

Now, I can't really see how I can separate her from other characters in term of moveset, so I'm curious if there are any potential moveset that would make her different from all casts.

Is it safe to say that Palutena wouldn't become playable character at all?

There's plenty they could do with Palutena. If Sakurai could figure out movesets for Wii Fit Trainer, of all things, he could figure out one for the namesake of the last game he worked on (Palutena is in the Japanese title of Kid Icarus).

Also, we don't have a staff user. That right there has potential.

She already has moves in uprising and that certain pseudo battle.

For a game that shouts each character's name at you 24/7?

Yes. There are people who've never played a metroid game that only know samus from smash who still call her metroid despite the game literally screaming the character's name out loud every time somebody selects the character. I've heard people do it with other characters as well. I don't get it either.

So Solid Snake reveal in march to go alongside the ground zeroes release right?
I mean if Brawl had MGS4 stuff anything is a go.

I would have assumed if he were in the game, he would have been revealed by now. Also, why would they reveal him on the release of a game in his series on every platform but the ones Smash are on?
Am I the only one who had a stupid grin on their face with the Luma and Kirby moment?
For me, it was the scene where the Luma was walking towards Kirby. Cute little tiny legs.

Nah, he could easily be saved for later.

Also don't forget that Snake in Brawl did have elements that were trying to sell MGS 4, even a variation on one of the Main Themes in that game which it did point out as being from 4.

Whoops that was supposed to be in the other smash thread. Had both of them opened.
To answer though like I said oddly enough Snakes brawl inclusion was almost in some ways advertising for MGS4 with the music and Gekko inclusion. Doesn't really mean anything but I could see them doing something odd since Snake's main inclusion was because him and Sakurai are friends.

*Moving this to the other thread*

I'm okay with this even though I've never played any of the games she's in.

They are obviously announcing the lesser characters before the announcement of Dixie Kong.

The most ridiculous thing I've seen in this thread is the suggestion that King K. Rool should take precedent over Rosalina. I can't be the only one who thought he was the lamest villain Nintendo (or should I say Rare?) has ever concocted. He's nothing more than fat, hideous alligator with a bad pun for a name.

The lesser of two evils really.

So I see we're judging Smash newcomers by waifu status.

that trailer made me sad........we won't get any awesome story trailers in smash wii u or 3DS :'(

Sakurai makes awesome trailers, thought Kirby was gonna be in mario kart in the beginning haha
