Amazon : Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance PC up for pre-order tomorrow ($20)

Konami set up a portion of the new California studio for future PC ports, that was the team behind this one.

LoS1 was contracted outside of Konami, LoS2 will be done internally by MercurySteam, and MGSV will be done by Konami.

I honestly thought it was Platinum Games doing the port, guess not.

I see. I would say you're safe in most cases, but this is a japanese console company trying to sell a pc game, so yeah you're right to be worried.

Yeah, it being Konami worries me, they aren't the smartest company around when it comes to making decent choices.

You guys are being incited by the console peasant wishing for exclusivity. Don't take the bait fellow gaming PC owners.

On topic, fucking finally, I can't wait for that true 1080p60 slicing action on the PC. Hope Konami ported this one as well as they did Castlevania LOS which ran pretty damn well on my oldish PC.

I really hope this leads to a few outcomes:

-The port is good
-The game sells well
-Konami realise it's worth porting/bringing back more of their past games on PC and going forward with future games too.
-If it was indeed Platinum Games doing the port that they got good experience in porting to PC
-Sega gets them to port Bayonetta, Vanquish, Anarchy Reigns and Mad World to PC.

OK wishful thinking but still........

There is absolutely no advertising for the PC release, is there? Well... at least I will be doing my part.

Whoever decided to get preorders up at $20 is brilliant. Even if the port is mediocre to bad on launch, those who preordered aren't going to feel too ripped off.

Here's hoping it's good and that lots of people buy it. Incentivizing more Japanese PC ports is never a bad thing.

Not expecting much/anything in the ways of graphical enhancements, outside of the standards: texture filtering, resolution, anti-aliasing, etc. And a lot of that can be forced by drivers anyway. Would be nice if there was a more advanced shadow filtering option for high end PCs. Wouldn't say no to some extra fluff too, like ambient occlusions.

Really hoping the dismemberment fade time / scene complexity has been increased, or is tweakable. No reason it shouldn't be unless the engine just can't handle it, or there's some fundamental issue with gameplay. Modern PC CPU and RAM limits should allow for dismembered pieces to stick around a lot longer than the console build.

Either way, excited to double dip. $20 is a good price, too.

First Platinum developed game to launch on PC?

Come on Sega, get a team going to port Vanquish and Bayonetta.

If any games deserved to be played at super high FPS, its Platinum games.

I don't think anyone really knows who did the port right now. There's been conflicting stories.

Yeah I was going by what was said by one of the Konami guys in a thread talking about it, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

As long as it appears on Steam under new releases it should do just fine assuming the port's decent. Word of mouth alone can help sell a game on Steam and I'm sure folks know about Platinum and Metal Gear. I just hope it does well on PC.

I'll be buying it day one anyway :)

I'm going to buy this. Loved what I played of it at PAX a couple years ago, never got the chance to pick it up for PS3 or 360.

I'd totally double dip on Vanquish if they brought it to PC

Does anything Metal Gear related make any sense?

Of course it does. You know nanomachines and... Um Metal Gear!? To be honest you can get through a MG title with a heavy dollop of suspension of disbelief. At least with Rising most of the complex story interactions are kept to optional Codec calls. So you can get stuck in to the hacky, slashy fun without a migraine.

konami PC games are not available on steam in Asia ( the irony, i know). hopefully the amazon key activates here

this is what happens when you go to the store page for castlevania or PES

Day 1.

Honestly I'm not even sure my crap PC will be able to even run the game decently (as light as the game will probably be), but I'll still buy it.

I would not believe the hype behind platinum games in general, if you're expecting to play a MGS game you will be shocked at how it's not.

The moment Kojima decided to give this to platinum the game stopped being a MGS game. That's why it got renamed from Metal Gear Solid: Rising to Metal Gear Revengeance.

It dropped the Solid in the title for a reason.

It's not a MGS game it's a MG game and it's a fantastic one at that. One of the best action games of the gen only surpassed by Bayonetta (and that's mostly because how rushed this game was).

I will be double dipping, and I will be enjoying every second of one of the greatest action games ever made.

However, I don't think it will play very well with a keyboard and mouse. So I am curious about the default scheme.

So that is the conflicting information.

I need to dig up my source on the matter, I thought it was Kojima during an interview.

It should.

If you need Castlevania, either activate it from Amazon or have someone buy it from Steam and gift it to you.

360 version of the the VR missions DLC was region locked I believe but only for NA. Which meant the only ones not getting the DLC was people in NA.

Other than that I believe everything else was released eventually as DLC.

The extra VR missions were a PS3 exclusive and there was a bit bit of difference with EU and NA free dlc (we got the Gray Fox skin whilst NA got the VR Missions). I think you could download all the skins, including the retailer ones about a month after.needless to say I own ever piece of dlc for the PS3 version bar the CE skins. Not entirely sure in the JP situation.

Roger that. I'm still not sure what's going to show up on PC, but hopefully it's all of it.

JP pretty much admitted it was in house and they haven't said anything because Konami is handling the news.

I'll pre-order this as soon as it's up!
Ah yes thanks for that, those are the posts I was thinking of :) Another reason I think it's them was I remember reading quite a while ago that they didn't want anyone porting their games to other platforms apart from them after the mess that was Bayonetta on PS3.
Yeah that is what made me automatically assume Platinum was working on it from the beginning.
