I enjoy removing hair from my body and face.
Even though it can hurt, it's quite a relaxing process and I feel great afterwards.
I do it for myself though, and not because of societal norms (of which there aren't any particularly widespread and strong ones when it comes to male body hair).

Just so. Day to day (and season to season) upkeep is totally different from nights out. As for hair down there, the spa I used to frequent in LA was at least 95% natural with a bit of trimming (generally). I would not say hairless is common at all.

It sure would be nice if that was true, but there was plenty of people early on acting like he was some sort of monster for not liking hair on women. Honestly I don't know which one I find more assholes, the OP who picked horrible terminology and came off like a jerk or the jerks that called him a jerk because "people have hair"

Last girl I liked (and who semi-sort of-kind of-liked me back) was Spanish, pale, and had jet black hair. She would worry about her facial and arm hair a lot, and one acquaintance actually told me it was gross, but it honestly never bothered me; she was gorgeous regardless. I still made fun of her though because I lack basic communication etiquette :p

If the guy likes you, it's not that big of an issue. Sure, shave the mustache, but if it's something you have to constantly maintain all over your body, maybe just let it be.

Woah... Putting a best foot forward for a date with someone she is interested in somehow ties back to society forced her to do it? Don't you think there is a simpler explanation like she likes the guy and wants to make a great first impression?

Eh, their bodies I guess. All I know is when I hit my goal weight I am staying skinny, relatively body hairless, and head haired for the rest of my life. I don't care how much time and money it costs me.
 
Trimming/shaving body hair should be considered a hygienic, common sense thing. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't happen but it's definitely unattractive for a lot of people. I don't get why that's so controversial? The 'it's natural' posts don't make any sense at all. Should we stop wearing deodorant too?

The point is that "making a good first impression" for some reason mandates that level of grooming in the first place.

Yah I'm a woman and I have hairy arms. Longish blond hair on my arms. Eastern European descent: hairy.

I de-hair my upper lip and legs and f#cking chin. It's annoying.

I don't shave my arms because I don't want it to turn into long black hair on my arms, which is what happens if you shave it (if you are me).

as a dude I do engage in manscaping. Have never really shaved my chest though and don't really feel the urge to do so because the hair might grow back with a vengeance.
 
We do live in a patriarchy, and obviously women have a million valid injustices to complain about. But I don't think that the work women have to do to attract someone of the opposite sex is one of them, because I think it's much, much harder for men. Men have to lift weights, make tons of money, have high status, initiate everything when it comes to dating and have all the social skills that it takes to "pick up a girl", be tough yet sensitive, be book smart enough to make a lot of money, but also be mechanically inclined and able to work with their hands, they have be good at sports, etc., etc., etc. I could go on and on about all the things that men are expected to be and do, and how difficult all that stuff is. Shaving or waxing body hair and wearing make-up just doesn't compare to all that stuff, it's MUCH less difficult. Why do guys like 'Mystery' exist? Why are there TV shows designed to teach men how to talk to women? Why? Because it's so difficult and complex for a man to get a woman, It is not difficult or complex for a woman to get a man, it's actually very easy. I don't know what you women are complaining about when it comes to this. You have it very easy.

Lots of people actually love grooming themselves. It's relaxing, feels great and can be a serious hobby if you read up on various techniques. It's the same as with make up. There's always these social warriors trying to paint a picture of women desperately forcing themselves to put on make up even though they really hate it because society tells them to do so but really, most of the girls I've met who do make up really enjoy it and have a deep interest in skincare/makeup while those who don't simply don't use make up.
