Games you remember, names you don't

In tone, it's probably closer to Darkwatch, but I don't know that the game I saw ever received a release. I'm trying to remember the site I saw it on, but it's so long ago now.

There was an old DOS platformer that came on one of those 500 in 1 DOS CDs (man I miss those). I dinner really know full details but my brother claims that there was a character with a green horse head that really freaked him out. He thought it may be captain comic or something similar

Happy new year to my favorite thread on the entire forum.

Here's one: a 360 game that I only saw video of. It may have been an action game or a horror game, not sure. The footage was of some guys on a rooftop in what appeared to be a town with a western setting, maybe with a bit of goth mixed in. It also looked fairly subpar qualitywise, and I don't recall seeing any actual gameplay.
I hope its not Damnation. I hate that fucking game.

Damnation would also be my guess.

SNES mech/mech suit game where you find a woman in like a pod or a tube or something. I believe there are 3 or 4 suits you can switch between. that's really all I remember,.

Anyone remember an F-Zero style, futuristic racing game for PC from the early to mid 90's? I want to say that it had a rock-like soundtrack. All I remember is getting a shareware disk with demos of different PC games at the time and this was one of them. In the disk you were in a futuristic lobby and walked from one room to the others to access the demos. One of the other demos was one of the sequels to Pitfall. Back to the racing game, it was fun, but a couple of times it froze and my mom got mad that we had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete (back when that was considered a big deal to purposely enter the blue screen).

A couple of edutainment PC games from the 80's. There was one that we played on primitive computers that had a thanksgiving/turkey theme. I want to say that you were shooting things at the top of the screen. I know that's really vague, but maybe some edutainment experts can help out. Also, there was one game where I believe you had a school bus in outer space and visited planets, solving math problems.

Finally, a late 80's chopper arcade game where you actually sat in a chopper with a lifelike control stick. It was from an overhead perspective and had a pseudo-3D effect. That was always my favorite arcade game but I can't remember it anymore.

You don't describe the game much, but given the era, MegaRace?

Thunder Blade?

How 'bout Hi-Octane by Bullfrog?

i have very fond memories of a game from my childhood... im pretty sure you assumed the role of a marsupial riding on a tire, and you have to jump and duck to get past enemies. it was a very basic 2d sidescrolling bit trip runner type game.

I honestly thought I had imagined the entire thing until i spoke with some friends who also had some vague memories of the same game. turns out we had attended the the same preschool at different hours!

any suggestions? i have been trying to identify this game for years

I think it was on the snes, or some knockoff console from a swap meat I can't remember. But you played as this little asian dude in a karate gi and just beat up dudes...with karate. I remember water being in the backround on one of the earlier levels or something. It was a sidescroller of course

Not sure what years we're talking about, or the marsupial part, but this kinda sounds like B.C.'s Quest for Tires.

You sure it wasn't a caveman? BC's Quest for Tires fits otherwise.

Would you have a rough estimate on the year you played it in? Also, what was the view like, top down, isometric, maybe more third person/behind the character? When you say you avoid meteors, are you maybe restricted in your movement, like being able to only move left and right? Since you said it looked pre-rendered I guess the environment/planet was static, or was it maybe 3D (maybe being able to run around it similar to Super Stardust HD)?

EDIT: There is a game called Meteor Mission, but I'm guessing that's not it.

Holy crap, that's it! So it IS Meteor Mission... I recognize the screenshots. Lol, I couldn't find anything on it. Any links for me? :D

I had forgotten how outdated it looks.

Also, there was one game where I believe you had a school bus in outer space and visited planets, solving math problems.

I guess it's one of the Magic School Bus games.

Does anyone remember a PC street soccer game from the 80s? I feel like the players were kids, with a red team and a blue team?

You sure it was PC (DOS)? What was the perspective, top down, isometric, side view? Maybe it's Street Sports Soccer?

Well, the obvious choices might be Kung-Fu Master, Yie Ar Kung Fu, Vigilante, The Karate Kid or even Karateka, they were on various systems but they don't fit in completely to your description. I guess the character wore a white gi? Can you remember the quality of the graphics, if it was too good for an NES or worse than SNES? Also the time period you played it in can help, doesn't have to be an exact year.

Not sure I'm supposed to post links to abandonware games but you can google "kurt dekker meteor mission" (without the quotes). The game has an order.txt with a registration form and a list of other games made by the same guy. Apparently the game was made in 1995. Kurt W. Dekker seems to have worked as a sound programmer on Arcanum, among other games. Probably blurbed out too much info, but there you go. :)

Here's a tough one...

I'm trying to remember the name of a single-player PC RPG from around 1994-1996 (right around the time Myst reached its peak popularity). You played from a first-person perspective and... that's about as visually descriptive as I can get. It was very grey... I don't remember anything about the plot, either. It was all medieval times and wizards and shit.
For some reason, the thing that always stuck out to me about whatever this game is called (and the reason that I want to remember what it was) was the fact that you could fucking kill your father right at the start of the game. You might have had to run an errand or two before he'd give you your sword, but once it was in your inventory you were free to murder his old ass with impunity. If I remember correctly he put up a pretty good fight, but he would eventually succumb to liberal amounts of stab wounds.
I'm pretty sure the patricide happened in real-time, too, but I don't remember for sure. Everything was probably pixelly and horrible-looking since this was a sprite-based first-person RPG. My dad probably bought it in a bargain pack of ten or so other horrible PC games.

Any idea what I could be talking about?

It's been almost three years and I still don't know the name of this game. Figured since it's a new year I'd give it another shot. Ring any bells for anyone? If not, feel free to ignore.

Got any more details? I've played damn near every CRPG ever and that doesn't ring any bells. Do you control a single character or a party? Grid base movement or free movement? Did it have a license attached, like D&D?

Thunder Blade?

I guess it's one of the Magic School Bus games.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm not sure of some of these, but they sound really fun. Thunder Blade is definitely the arcade game I was thinking of, thanks! I'd give anything to find that cabinet again and play it with proper controls; I don't think MAME would do it justice. Also the school bus game was Magic School Bus Explores the Solar System and I used to play it at the local library; thanks ichty!

For the racer, I remember Hi-Octane, so that's not right, but it could very well be MegaRace. I seem to remember that the cars were smaller and the tracks were narrower then the screenshots of MegaRace, but that could just be my memory failing me. The name also sounds like it fits. I'll check it out.

I don't remember if it had a license attached to it. Want to say no. Pretty sure you only controlled a single character and I believe it had free movement.

I suppose it's something like Ultima Underworld or The Elder Scrolls: Arena in terms of graphics and gameplay mechanics like realtime movement and combat?

Try Obitus, Slayer, Anvil of Dawn, Deathkeep, Trapped, Amulets & Armor, Descent to Undermountain, Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny. I'm just naming some first person action RPG's from the 90's here, haven't played most of them.

Ok European people,

This was a PS1 game that never came to the US. It stars a little cute alien who breaks out of jail and has to start rescuing his comrades. This is the very beginning of the game. He has lots of different alien powers.

Thanks

I remember playing this one arcade driving game that was an overhead view(like the original GTA) and it would just be a single screen and then when you got to the edge it would move to the next full screen. It had just the steering wheel, a gas pedal, and maybe a High/Low gearshift? You stood at the machine. There was obstacles and stuff, but the coolest part for me at the time was that all your skid/tire marks stayed on the screen while you were on that screen.I just sat there doing donuts sometimes, watching all the tire marks and enjoying that. Simple things for simple minds, I guess.

You could also try Dragon Lore: The Legend Begins, which is one of the obscure ones from that era.

Maybe Attack of the Saurcerman?

Looked around in MAME, only one I found so far is Stocker.

There was a PC game I picked up at a thrift store years ago and I can barely remember it. I just remember one of the first missions was to break out of a museum or library or something.

HaHAAAAAA! That's it! Dragon Lore. Holy shit that game looks terrible. Just look at those weird 3D models on top of the pre-rendered Myst backgrounds... (http://youtu.be/VrF0-MegbHQ)

Thanks so much, Malgayne. And thanks Sinatar, ichtyander, and everyone else over the past few years gave suggestions. I was honestly starting to think that game was a figment of my imagination.

Maybe you can help me. I was very young when I played these games, so everything is pretty vague.

1: A Dreamcast game where the protagonist wore white, I think, it was a hack and slash where you killed hordes of zombies, monsters and demons with a sword or whip. The later part of the game had a side scrolling feel and bosses similar to Power Stone. The game was short and kind of played like an easy arcade game. Pleaaase, help me!

2: I think a N64 game but it might've been PS1. It was a game with 2 weirdos in a car or something. They controlled a small robot that could take control of animals and objects. Graphics were awful, and I don't know what it was really about. @___@

If anyone could answer these, I'll be in heaven.

Second one is perhaps Space Station: Silicon Valley. Can't recall who controls the little robot microchip thing but you use it to take over animals and honestly the graphics were quite bad.

Edit: Perhaps check out Zombie Revenge or Soul Fighter for the first?

Or even Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage. Definitely a sword used in that one.

Okay, Space Station is totally it. Thank you!

But the hack and slash was only single player, it felt Japanese, and I don't remember seeing blood. It was kind of like Devil May Cry or Castlevania or something...I could beat the game in like 3 hours.

Haha, wow, well, I wasn't really asking for the game persay, but thanks! Just wondering whatever happened to this sucker... I think it came on one of those 100s of games discs back in the day.

I'm not so great at the Dreamcast's library so I'll suggest Draconus: Cult of the Wyrm as my last guess. I looked up reviews and it appears to be a fair bit longer than you're remembering but could just be faulty memory on that one aspect? Otherwise someone else will have to help.

Ah, the times when every CD seemed like a treasure chest. I think somebody out there is collecting these compilation discs, I remember seeing some on the defunct underground-gamer.
Anyway, I've spent years searching for some games and every time I found one it kinda felt like Christmas so I'm always glad to help out a fellow game seeker. Laughed out loud when I read the spoiler. :)

There's always a possibility that it might be in the second wave of Sega 3D Classics on the 3DS, and given the quality of those ports, that might well be the definitive version.

For good measure, it's been recently added to GoG.

I can't remember that goddamn name just now... it's a fairly new game, like in the last 5 years for sure. I thought its got "Inferno" in the name or it would actually has that as it's title, but I have not found it.

It's a third person action game, you got some weird powers and you can rip power/health out of dead bodies. There are also a lot of puzzles you have to solve with your powers...

Sure you're not thinking of Dante's Inferno?
