Can we vote posters out too? I'd like to vote for this person to be banned from this thread.

What's your problem? Ren & Stimpy is a bad show.

We have to regroup and strike against R&S another day, brother. It is a shit show, but we need reinforcements to over come the people that pretend to like it.

The only two shows I gunned for are Kablam and Ren & Stimpy. Being the target age when these shows were on I know I hated those two shows whenever I turned on the TV and they were the only thing on for kids at the time.

Ren & Stimpy is a bit of a Jekyl and Hyde show.

The first two seasons are some of the best cartoons ever made, bar none. The episodes that Nickelodeon did are among the ugliest, foulest things ever made.

I don't even consider them the same series. I've seen the first two seasons dozens of times, while I've barely watched most of the Nick episodes more than once.

R&S(the good eps) is one of the only made-for-tv cartoons of it's era that I can still go back to and enjoy as an adult without nostalgia blinds on. The Simpsons and Batman being the other two.

This is very very true. I love how much butt hurting this show is causing. The votes speak for themselves. Ren & Stumpy is loved.

Absolutely. It was a show made to celebrate the act of animation, first and foremost. Some of the jokes are still tear-inducingly funny, and making Ren a flat-out asshole with psychopathic breaks was really cutting (in a great way).

If we're doing a vote on the cardinal examples of 90s cartoons, Ren and Stimpy, irrefutably, shouldn't be gone yet.

FTFY

Kill: Weekenders
Kill: Weekenders
Save: SWAT Cats

Same reasons as last time.

So happy to see those preemptive reboot saves

I love Ren & Stimpy but, I can't save it over Hey! Arnold if it comes to that next round...
Don't see Arnold going that route anytime soon. Unless we get another Pokemon phenomenon.

Weekenders should be automatically disqualified for not being a 90's show.

i brought that up already, along with batman beyond. They were barely 90's cartoons.

Kill: Author - It's pretty damn hard to go back and watch this show. Nostalgia is what keeps it in our hearts.

Kill: Doug. While 100x better than the Disney version (Fucking turn Connie skinny, also how did she get taller?), the show is pretty awkward to watch now. Not bad or impossible, just weird.

Save: EeK the cat. Normally this save spot is for Swat Kats, but no one is attacking it at the moment. However, Eek is still a very watchable show. Sure, some jokes are 90's dated, but that's kind of what this thread is about. We get these dated jokes now more than we did as kids. I didn't even realize it was spoofing movies until I got older.

31.

If this were an 80s cartoon thread, I'd be all over the place saving Dungeons & Dragons, Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors, C.O.P.S., Jem (which would win the contest), and damn Laser Tag Academy. But I still got plenty of love for some of the best toons of the 90s as well.

I know I do. Somewhere lying around I still have a bunch of old DBZ, Batman, Pokemon, etc. VHS tapes, not to mention SpongeBob, Batman, and Batman Beyond season DVDs.
Yeah plus all the reruns on television. That's where most of the stuff on the list comes from.

I've watched King of the hill before, many times in fact. I didnt think it was all that great and no one brought it up when I was taking nominations for the new thread and I certainly didnt remember it so that's my reasoning for forgetting to put it on the list.

If we had included every show anyone could possibly think of, this contest would never end. There's definitely stuff I would have exchanged for other stuff (maybe Beetlejuice for Big Guy and Rusty, Rescue Rangers for Swamp Thing, etc) but it's not a big deal at this point.

This too.
It's impossible to include everyone's interests on the list.
We'd be here for a lot longer.

Kill: Arthur
Kill: Arthur
Save: Hey Arnold

Arthur needs to go at some point.

i didn't even like Hey Arnold that much but i'm gonna throw it a bone because it's a staple and i think Ren and Stimpy is safe.

This should become an annual thread with all of these suggestions added to next year's thread. I'd be down for that.
I was thinking that maybe next time we could do different eras. Like modern cartons. We'll see.
Anyways.
The Weekend is over.
In not so surprising news, The Weekenders was voted out with 20 kills and 4 saves. Arthur was also voted out with 14 kills and 1 save.
Top 5:
  • Eek the Cat(9 Kills 3 Saves)

Looking at this list, after today, the difficulty begins. There's hardddd choices a'comin.

----------------------------------------------
Kill: Eek the Cat!
Kill: Hercules
Save: Doug

Eek is the worst thing still left IMO and I don't remember having much fun watching Hercules.

I don't know if Doug holds up, but I loved it at the time.

Kill: Hercules-Movie was ok, but wow is the cartoon bad.
Kill: Aladdin- Basically the same, but the difference in quality is far more staggering with how terrible the cartoon is.
Save: Courage the Cowardly Dog- Why would anyone want to get rid of this? Courage is a great show that really holds up well today.

I was the ONLY Arthur save...for shame.

I'm surprised that no one else went to save it. I remember it being a pretty good show as a kid, but I haven't seen it in years.

Kill : Eek! The Cat
Kill : Hercules
Save : Courage the Cowardly Dog

Time to trim the fat. Hercules, imo, was always one of the weaker Disney tv shows, let alone movies.

EDIT: For shame people trying to eliminate Courage. FOR SHAME.

Kill: Eek the Cat!
Kill: Hercules
Save: TBD

Kill : Hercules
Save : Hey! Arnold

Well I think we've already reached a consensus this round. I think there's a pattern here

I've got to go with the flow here, so to speak:

Kill: Hercules. I really love the movie, but the show seemed a little thin. Not terrible, but not as good as some of what's remaining.
Kill: Aladdin
Save: Doug

It's almost as if there was some sort of mutual, group understanding going into this round...

I think Eek and Hercules are worse than Aladdin, but yeah, I won't mind if Aladdin goes instead. It's probably next anyway, even if it doesn't.

After that there are some tough choices to be made.

Sure i'll jump on the bandwagon.
Kill: Eek! The cat
Kill: Eek the cat
Save: SbSp
Never saw Eek and I adore Spongebob.

Yeah, Spongebob is awesome. Hype around it back in the day was out of this world! It's sad to see there is plenty of hate going around for it here in GAF.

I think a lot of the hate comes from the post-movie/end of Hillenburg being the showrunner era. There's a huge difference between the first three seasons along with the movie and everything that came afterwards.

Even then the hate is displaced. There is drop in quality but the show still delivered some really great episodes even after the movie. If we were judge the shows as whole then something like Simpsons doesn't have any place in top 10 either.

Absolutely. I'm glad to see that the chaos has subsided in this thread... but it's sure to return once we start talking about The Tick, Freakazoid, TMNT, etc.

Pinky and The Brain seems like it'll be a painless, logical cut prior to Animaniacs.

I'm not a huge Spongebob fan, but I realize it's probably going to be top 15 if not top 10. By the time Spongebob came around in 99, I was already hooked on DBZ and other shows like it. Spongebob probably seemed boring by comparison.

I'd vote Pinky out. I remembered it as a part of Animaniacs anyway, and there's no way it goes much further. Pinky and Aladdin/Hercules would be nice for tomorrow.

You would've been in your teens when late 90s shows came out, thats a bit late to be watching cartoons. I was 5-10 watching the majority of these shows.

I turned 13 in 2000. Check your calculator, heh. I was 10 in 1997 and definitely watched some cartoons through fifth grade or so (age 11/12).

II'd vote Pinky out. I remembered it as a part of Animaniacs anyway, and there's no way it goes much further. Pinky and Aladdin/Hercules would be nice for tomorrow.

I'd give Pinky one more round or two, but yeah, it should go relatively soon based on principle.

I have no issue voting any of those out. Live Action Tick was the best tick! But, it's going to be a blood bath these coming rounds. CAN'T WAIT.
