1990's Cartoon Survivor (Do-Over)

Yeah, I agree as well.
But come top 10 or 15, It's gonna be a different story for R&S.

I keep telling myself I'll be happy if one of my top shows makes the top ten, but I bet I'll grow hungry to see most of my shows succeed.

Perhaps I played my cards to openly early and let everyone know what I was really rooting for!

Oh since the last page was caught up in some drama, my question didn't get answered.
I know this sounds odd but would you guys be up for modern era (2000's to present) cartoons next or is there no one that would want to go for that.
I would say 80s era would be nice, but I wasn't born then and I wouldn't be able to make the thread.

I'd say go by the decades. 80s, 2000s, (the Ots), etc. Maybe wait a full year, too.

I'd be in. There is just some much entertainment potential! Plus, I loved some 2000s cartoons.

I would be in for both, though I would have to watch 80s cartoons to feel like my opinion mattered. The only 80s shows I've really seen are the old Chipmunks, Rescue Rangers, the Real Ghostbusters, Duck Tales, TMNT, and the terrible Mario and Zelda shows.

They re-aired most of the good 80's cartoons during the 90's anyway, so I've probably seen most of them. 2000's survivor would probably be more interesting though.

Real Ghostbusters would have to take that thread.

Alright Awesome! Thanks guys.
I'll ask for suggestions either before the final round or right after the results.
If we end up doing the 2000'sto now, Oh my god, that thread will end up being even more of a bloodbath.
The possiblilites of fighting between say the Avatar fans, with the LOK fans and the Gravity Falls fans. OMG.

In a sense that's a good idea but I doubt there are that many gaffers who knows cartoons from last decade. Many knows the popular cartoons that have appeal for kids and young adults, like Adventure Time, Samurai Jack, etc.

How many knows what are the really popular saturday morning cartoons these days? Age disparity will play even biger role in 00s vote off.

But I'm not against the idea, long as we have good list of cartoons, I will vote.

Uhh...

Umm...

Benten? Is that a thing? Do the kids still like the Yugioh?

Exactly :D Kids born in 90s probably know Yu-Gi-Oh! and Cubix but for 70s/80s Gaffers those names probably don't say much. I guess we don't have to include every saturday morning cartoon. Instead we do list of adult swim/CN cartoons. There is also lots of Marvel and DC series going on these days that have appeal for all ages.

Yeah, I understand.
This era was the one where most of the popular "Saturday morning" cartoons moved to the big cartoon networks.

It doesn't mean that we couldn't curate a good list that has a decent amount of shows that GAFfers like.

Yes Ben 10 is still a thing.
Yu Gi Oh, not sure but I think they still have a series running.

Yeah I'd stick to a list of shows that everyone should know.
Saturday morning shows haven't really existed in a long time.
It's mostly the big networks like Disney Channel, CN, FOX, FX, and Nickelodeon. It shouldn't be hard to come up with a decent list from those five or 6 networks.

I'm also sure that some Gaffers have kids that inevitably watch cartoons too, No?

I just googled some top 10 cartoons from last decade and there were indeed many good shows that are most likely popular among many gaffers.

Without a doubt you could compile interesting list for another cartoon survivor thread. If you are going to make 00s cartoon survivor thread, then I hope we include shows from 2000 to 2014. I have been watching cartoons with my kids since 2010 and there have been some great shows just past few years that deserves a fight in the competition.

All I know is that I'll be disappointed when My Life as a Teenage Robot and Grim & Evil gets voted off too early :p

I would kill both right from the start :b My only fear is that the 00s list would be Marvel/DC heavy. Haven't seen any of the new super hero shows and there is at least dozen of them from 2000 to 2014. Same goes for popular anime shows that were aired around the world during the anime boom in mid 00s. Haven't seen any of them.

ash-in-reboot-o.gif

One of the things I remember from Reboot is there's an episode where a character based on Ash from Evil Dead/Army of Darkness makes an appearance.

And an episode where the game was Road Warrior. Mad Max intercepter and all.

JESUS CHRIST Guys.
Can y'all just chill out?
I wanted this thread to be fun.
Let's not be angry over stupid technicalities like being too old or too young for a show.

Haha people's childhood memories are being threatened. I think it's the entertainment of nostalgia driven passion that gives the thread it's flavor.

Watch an episode on Youtube if you dare. All the shine will immediately rub off :P

Yeaaaaah. That's why I haven't done it. I saw Digimon on Netflix and said "Oh man! Nostalgia! I loved this show even more than pokemon. I'm going to watch it all right now." That was a mistake. Couldn't make it a whole episode. :/

Down to business. Don't want to chance splitting the vote so I'm going to keep on the Eek! train. Hercules is up next for me.

Kill: Eek! The Cat
Kill: Eek! The Cat
Save: SWAT Kats
(Same reasons as last two)

Are these votes cumulative or only per round?

Ahh looks like everyone is finally on the same page as I am.

Kill: Eek! The Cat
Kill: Eek! The Cat
Save: Doug

I saw a few kills for Doug last time, and I don't want to this show to end up in the top 5 again.

Yeah, I'm cool with the current trend of votes.

Kill: Eek the Cat
Kill: Hercules
Save: Doug

Edit: Hey now! Let's not get carried away with these Doug votes.

Kill - Recess
Kill - Recess
Save: Hercules DOUG! Sorry, SAVE COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG

I didn't enjoy Recess as a kid and was also somehow dragged to see the Recess movie in theaters; I especially didn't like the movie. Hercules, on the other hand, was an OK TV show and the movie was enjoyable. I'm not sure we're supposed to base all of this on movies, but whatever, it's my vote and I can do what I want!

EDIT: Whoa, whoa, how can you guys want to kill Doug over a lot of the other crap on here? Switching my save to Doug from Hercules; Hercules is alright but Doug is significantly better.
EDIT2: Courage, really guys? Sorry Doug, gotta throw you under the bus to save Courage.

I don't understand Recess love. It was boring as crap

Kill: Home Movies
Kill: Home Movies
Save: Dragonball Z

I like your style. I have to agree on Doug and I respect your approach to Ren & Stimpy.

Hey, wait- you watched cartoons in 1999?! That'd make you an awkward teena-
(kidding)
.

Haha, I sure was watching cartoons then ...right alongside my married, 30 something lawyer sister.

But yes, I was pretty awkward. High school wasn't that great to me - college was much better. XD

Also, I KNOW there are Home Movies fans out there, so please don't let this great show die due to ignorance.

oh crap. Totally forgot about Beast Wars. It'll be added into consideration for next round.
Number of shows left is 38.
Also calm down guys. This is supposed to be a fun thread. Although I am loving the drama that is ensuing.
You're now adding in Beast Wars but not King of the Hill? Some BS going on in here!

So shows like Weekenders which started in 1999 you would've been 12-16 for it's run. Not saying anything bad but it's pretty clear that with Pokemon, Weekenders and Captain Planet gone that most of the people voting here were a bit older than the demo for these shows and so either didn't watch them or thought they were "kiddy" like shows such as the stuff on Disney, Nick and cartoon Network seem to us today.

Hence why this is a 90's cartoon vote off and and not a 2000's vote off. Shows that aired more episodes during the 2000's then the 90's shouldn't have even been included, and are rightfully getting eliminated.

Whoa. What the hell with the Doug kills? The original Nicktoon. You know for all you babies in the thread, Doug was quality on a channel called Nickelodeon and he wasn't always on ABC or whatever. (Just kidding on that last part. Wouldn't want any babies to start crying for mommy) ((Ok I seriously am kidding about the baby thing. This thread is hilarious))

Babies.

Babies.

Yeah... the Doug killers are jerks. I'm guessing they're remembering the ABC-version of Doug and not the Nick version. If they're thinking of the Nick version, well, they're lost souls.

Babies.
You should give Doug save vote if you feel so strongly about it.

Kill: GoofTroop
Kill: Gooftroop

Save: Eek! The cat

Goodtroop is a show that I barely ever watched and I figure there must have been a reason for that, so it's got to go. Never been much of a goofy fan anyway.

I used to like Eek!! Back in the day, no idea if I would still like it today, but GoofTroop had got to go first IMO.

And re: a 2000's vote off, it should be cartoons from the year 2000-2009. And if it aired more episodes in 2010 than at any point in the previous decade (2000-2009) or didn't complete it's first season by end of 2009, then it shouldn't be considered due to the small sample size.

Also Animaniacs is on the list twice still, so you can swap it's 2nd listing with Beast Wars.

Oh by, looks like Eek is going this round. I liked it, but not more than a few other shows with targets on them today. My lasting memory of Eek is the large number of "FOX network is a jerk" jokes.

Kill: Hercules
Kill: Recess

Save: Doug

I've already gone over how Hercules was the harbinger of doom of Disney cartoons.
Recess was watchable in a pinch, but is ultimately not destined for top 15.
Of all the shows with +4 kills already, Doug is my most cherished. Doug's crush on Patti pretty much mirrored my own crush experience at the same time. (Also... wow. The Disney change. So that's why Patti's hairdo changes.)

Beast Wars was readded because it was on the voting but was somehow neglected or accidentally deleted for a few rounds. It probably wouldn't have been cut by now, anyway.

Adding new shows now would be uncool to those that have been cut already.

Oh, I thought it was never on the list. Doesn't show up in the OP.

Kill: Eek the Cat
Kill: Hercules

I work with the majority from now on to remove shows I have no feelings toward.

Save: Recess

Doug seems safe this round. I enjoyed Recess; even the movie was fairly good!
