Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance PC Version |OT| Violence Breeds Violence

does that zandatesu or w/e setting affect gameplay? Seem to get some framerate drop if i slice things up too much.

Are there set combos? I'm not getting any kinda of 'feel' of raiden's default moves, they all look a bit too similar that it feels more lika build your own combo vs some distinct light light heavy etc or maybe i just needa get a feel.

Is there any way to cancel out of animations? Like if im wacking a guy but needa ninja run away, it seems to have some delay.

The only scene that really got to me was
the evil laugh when he became Jack the Ripper
.

So I went and found the scene in Japanese to see if it was better and nope, it was even worse to my ears.

So yeah, I'm okay with the English VA. Could have been better but he has grown on me over the years.

It's a kinda cheese I do enjoy.

You can Blade Cancel by tapping the Blade Mode button real quick.

He has various combos. The move/combo list is under Help in the pause menu.

You can cancel out of animations via Blade Mode cancelling. Just tap the Blade Mode button and he will cancel out of almost any animation.

Yeah, it has its own flavor.

Well, after playing it for a few hours last night i must say:

- PG are the best at making action games
- The voice acting is so bad that i love it
- No frame drops, regardless the frame/resolution limit
- Music is good
- It´s pretty good port

It´s a shame i cant downsample this tho.

Anyway, i hope PG fix these graphic issues and keep bringing their games to the PC.

You can use blade mode cancel, and you can cancel almost anything into dodge as well, and you can also cancel your dodge with BMC to abuse the invincible frames and stay in their face instead of just running away.

EDIT: Also, use the BMJC variation, instead of just pressing blade mode, press blade mode + jump, it'll let you cancel some moves that regular blade mode won't cancel and it's just as easy to perform.

That's funny because MGR is the opposite of a "build you own combo game" as you put it, like DMC. You have few set combos and that's it, the game isn't really a "combo game". The emphasis is rather put on parrying, evasion and countering. It's more similar to Ninja Gaiden than anything else, but it's really its own thing. The number one upgrade should get is the offensive dodge move, it's essential.

jesus christ i can't get past lone wolf for the life of me. also, anyone notice that the steam overlay is flickering when playing this?

It's still a little bit blurry when I set it to enhance the ingame AA. Runs at 50ish FPS with 8x SGSSAA on a 780 though, really nice.

Set the negative LOD to -.500 for 2x, -1.000 for 4x and -1.500 for 8x.

LOD bias fixes texture blur, but not overall image / geometry blur. The latest drivers also have automatic LOD adjustment with SGSSAA.

I ended up fixing it for the most part with this AA compatibility bit: 0x084012C1

The UI has occasional distortion with the AA compatibility turned on though.

Look at these posts to make the game even better looking if you want. o:

I'm finding that I'm fighting the camera just about as much I'm fighting the enemies - is this something anyone else is experiencing?

Just to follow up... I was able to select a location when I preloaded. The files were on my primary drive but when I decrypted and installed it installed to the location I chose.

It requires a level of manipulation that's maybe above what other games demand, but it's not what I'd call bad. Remember you can use your chin for the right analog stick if your two hands are otherwise occupied and sometimes you just have to take mental note of what's offscreen based on enemy patterns and their current position.

I think it's bad but like "I blame the game for not getting S rank here" bad, not "I died because of the camera", you can get hit by an offscreen attack some times because of it, but if you actually die it's because you fucked up.

Haha, locked achievements in the Steam client isn't lowering when you unlock them. I still have R-00 as "locked" despite Steam's community/the game saying I've unlocked it.

What's the deal with lock-on exactly? Can you control who you lock on to first when you press RB by pointing at them with the left stick? And can you switch your lock-on to another enemy? I *think* I've switched lock-on with the right stick, but maybe that's my imagination.

you can change who you have locked with right stick.

Well, I caved and bought it. Downloading now, it's looking like it's going to take awhile D:... (Only at 5% right now)

But I'm looking forward to getting back into it again!

Fuck sakes, I would be playing it right now but I paused my steam download when it was almost finished for a moment, then resumed and it's downloading all over again.

I WANT TO PLAY IT NOW!

Same thing happened to me, it's basically downloading it twice now.

Thank goodness I have a flatrate, but still.

For the final boss, what the hell am I doing wrong because
the second layer of the thing he throws at you seems impossible to cut. I get the first one fine but the second which is just on the other diagonal side always hits me. I know you can avoid it all together but I was trying to get some extra damage.

Edit: After about half an hour I've finally got it down. Hate when somehow basic mechanics manage to elude your grasp in a game for a period.

Make sure you are lining up the cut with both sticks.

Move the camera to line it up right.

I kinda want this for the spectacle, but I have no interest in learning/mastering a complex combat system. Should I just skip this, or can I mash my way to the fun/ridiculous parts?

Man this game is optimized like a beast. It ran just fine all maxed out on my HD7770 with a C2D E8500. Don't think it was near 60, but it was a very playable, fluid speed, maybe 30-40? I suck at guessing FPS, but there was only little slow down during that first boss fight, esp during blade mode. So for now I knocked it down to 4x AA with no blur.

Are people getting better IQ/performance when they turn off in-game AA and only run it through Catalyst? Haven't tried messing with any of that yet.

I'm using a 7850; I have the in-game AA turned off and forcing SMAA via RadeonPro. It barely looks worse, and I maintain a solid 60 fps most of the time.

I guess so, but it's not really complex at all. It's more about always being alert and responding properly than masatering combos.

EDIT: I disagree about playing on easy. You don't have to go all the way up to hard, but Normal is already pretty easy.
