Do you reckon FFXV and/or MGSV will get PC ports?

If SE can get their heads out of the sand then we can expect a PC release for XV. Considering how easy multiplat dev should be for next gen, this shouldn't even be a problem. It mostly comes down to decision making from the higher ups.

'pretty expensive' PC my arse. You could probably play it with an AMD FX CPU, 8GB RAM and GTX 760 series or equivalent. By the time FFXV is out that won't be expensive at all.

Not to mention Xbox One and PS4 basically ARE PC's. I don't even know if you could get away with calling, say, a Steam release a 'port' because I'd imagine the amount of work done to put it there would be minimal.

Yep, they are basically saying 'Even if we ship PC version of FFXV expect a shitty, unoptimized port - do you really want that?'. Disgusting approach, tbh.

I'll double dip with MGSV on PC if it ever comes there, the game must be a looker with all settings maxed out

kojima admitted that MGS5 will not break any new grounds in term of graphics on next gen consoles(1080p/60FPS is pretty much guaranteed), apart from some IQ enhancements the PC version won't be any different if it ever comes out. all of this is because the game limitations are still bound to last gen hardware.

It seems very likely that MGSV will get a PC release. This game is running on a PC-based engine (correct?) and he has talked about a PC version more than he ever has, really (even with MGS and MGS2 releasing on PC), so I think there's a very good chance it comes to PC.

vs13/15 is apparently using DX11, so it's possible but unlikely.

MGS"5" (that's Peace Walker's claim to fame, sorry Kojima) is likely. Fox Engine has PC ability and they have discussed the possibility in the past.

But the bigger question there is: Will PC get okay-ish ports of MGS1-4 included?

In that context they probably consider "pretty expensive PCs" everything that doesn't run on integrated graphics.

I see people mentioning this over and over, but in case you missed the very same thing is true for FF XV, which was running on Windows and DirectX 11 at E3.

I could definitely see MGSV coming, but final fantasy XV seems unlikely. But Feel free to prove me wrong Square Enix ;)

I think Squeenix re-releasing FFVII/VIII PC and Konami greenlighting a PC port of Rising were the two companies testing those respective waters. The possibility is a distinct one.

Can someone please explain to me the recurring "Final Fantasy XV? *lol* NOT LIKELY!" going on on this thread?
Is there any particular reason to make people think that way?

People keep forgetting the Square Enix is actually pretty invested in PC, and that the Final Fantasy games sell decently well on the platform as proven by the classic releases and FF14, and that FF15 is built on an engine that runs games natively on Windows, and that Square Enix has already expressed interest in bringing the game to the PC, and that on a game of this budget it would be wise to bring it to as many platforms as possible. But FF13 didn't make it to the platform so all that is moot.

Can't think of any reason why FFXV won't appear on PC.

It'd make SE more money, so why not? It's not exclusive to any platform.

Actually in the initial English PR it mentioned Windows PC's so I'm not sure why. That probably isn't definite atm though even with the mention.

How much more money? How much does it cost to create a PC version? Would they be getting any new sales that they wouldn't be getting otherwise on ps4/xb1?

I sure as hell hope they do, since they're the only announced console-exclusive games I'm interested in on PS4 and XB1, and I don't want to buy a PS4 or XB1.

Although MGSV is coming to PS3, so I can just get it there. That leaves only FFXV, which I'd just skip if I had to, but I'd prefer to be able to play it on my PC.

The Last Remnant 2 will reignite SE's PC ambitions...right? =(

I'd get behind it, don't expect to ever see a sequel for that game though.

Depends when the game releases. I might not buy a next gen console for awhile so I'd give them a sale. Even if it is a year late, we have seen games come out late in their life and still see sales on the PC.

A port from PS4 to PC shouldn't cost an amount that'd make it unfeasible.

I'm sure there are PC only gamers out there who would be interested to jump into the FF series.

At the rate they're going I'm not convinced FFXV is coming out on any platform.

For MGSV I expect a late port given they actually release PC games in the MGS series and at Konami in general.

I see no reason why they can't give the finished source code of FFXV to someone like Eidos to handle the PC port. They're not a 1st/2nd party publisher. But yes, it's going to be a long time before we see it on any platform.

I knew he likes to play PC games (and I remember him praising BF3 for PC on Twitter) but that's the first time I'm hearing something like this.

I tried looking for it, but it was some one off comment he made at the end of an interview before MGS4 was released. He said he was getting push back from his team, however, when he made the statement so it came off kind of sheepish.

FFVII and FFVIII were already on PC. When FFIX shows up on Steam, that will mean something.
If FFVII & FFVIII have done well enough, that could encourage them to look more into PC development, like with some other Japanese (and non-Japanese) developers.

That said, the way they've described their development of FFXV sounded like PC isn't totally out of the question.

FF IX, X, X-2, XII, XIII-2 and Female Cloud Returns didn't get/aren't getting PC ports either. So out of the post-VI main series games, only VII, VIII, XI and XIV got ports (and the latter two are online MMORPGs anyway, so it would be madness to not port them to PC).

A game on the scale of FF needs more than just a few extra PC only gamers to justify a port. This isn't some indie title.

And I think SE already has enough on their plate just getting the game out on the two announced systems. They already failed to release it on the ps3, despite years of promises. Nothing is easy for these guys, even things that are supposed to be easy.

Personally I don't think FFXV is running on anything at the moment, despite whatever was supposedly said by Nomura at e3.

There's a pretty good chance they'll both make it to PC.

FFXV will be made for PC also if demand is high enough from what they have said.

Seeing how many PC gamers have bought FF VII, VIII and the huge subscription rate of FFXIV on PC with the fact that it's getting a Steam release on top of that, is a healthy a sign that FFXV is coming to Steam.

As for MGSV, just look at MGRs impressive turn out for a character action game on Steam that's also not a mainline MGR game.

I change my mind from "it's a pretty good chance that they'll get release" to they WILL get released.

But we see through the progression of these games that Square Enix becomes more open with the franchise. Going from a Playstation 1 and 2 only, and then with their very expensive to produce FF13 series they opened up to the Xbox platform as well (after also putting FF11 on the 360). This trend continues with FF15 already being confirmed for the Xbox 1. It is perfectly fine to expect another huge release to push Square Enix towards even more platforms. Square Enix certainly would not be shooting themselves in the foot with a PC release.

A potential port would obviously be outsourced to Eidos or whoever else available.

But yeah, they need to finish the game before they think of any additional platforms. :/

A PC release would make sense, but SE and making sense hasn't really been BFFs the last few years :p

well they should be. the game is beautiful as it is, it would benefit from a higher res. (And an option to speed up the battle intros)

I'm not arguing whether it would look better or benefit from being released on PC. Just that there is no PC version and I don't think the current Square would take the time and energy to create one after the minimal energy they put into updating 7 and 8.

With them stating that they are developing the game at a higher fidelity than what current consoles can handle makes me think they they are running that version on a platform that can handle it. PC. There's a good chance.

Yes to both, although MGSV is more than likely.

The only reason I think FF15 might end up on PC as well is because of that Gamespot article where they said if there is enough demand for it on PC they will consider it. FF15, just like MGSV, is being made 'in a PC environment'. Well that's what they said anyway.

Yeah for 15 I agree and would love to see a PC version for it. In the quote i was talking about FF9 though.

Since FFVII, VIII, XI, and XIV all came out for PC. I'm holding hope XV will too.
If FF XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 come out for PC, I'm definitely not getting a PS4. Those are the only games I care about next-gen, well so far.

Both could happen I guess but MGS5 is more likely. Anyway both would arrive sometime after the console releases it wouldn't be come out at the same time. I also fear that if MGS5 and XV on PC were to happen it would have some kind of DRM bullshit.
