The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

I think a couple reasons. 1. All the amazing screenshots in the bullshot thread, shich make Skyrim look mind blowing and also 2. The Steam holiday sale had Skyrim on sale for like $5. I just picked up a copy myself as a matter of fact (for the modability of it).

Question for you guys. I'm a newb at modding Skyrim. I've been tinkering though and get how it works at this point. Like a lot of other people I've been looking for that "perfect" ENB. As far as pure IQ/Performance goes, I really love the RealVision ENB. My only problem is that the colors are really oversaturated. it's like someone turned the color up to 11. Is there a way I can manually tone that aspect of the ENB down?

Also, I keep seeing people mention the Somber ENB and I'd like to give it a try but it doesn't seem to be available on Nexus anymore. Is there somewhere else I can pick this mod up? If any of you wouldn't mind sharing some of the rarer mods with me, I would really love that. Unless there is some sort of secret repository with all the cool stuff or something that I'm missing, which in that case can you hook a brotha up with a link?! :P

Is the workshop looked down upon generally? Im into modding Skyrim some, but nothing huge, id much rather just use the workshop as its quick and clean, mostly stuff to update the UI.

I exclusively use the nexus personally. Workshop is fine if that's what you want you use but some bigger mods need Skyrim Script Extender and the default launcher can't use it. I personally like the nexus mod manager better than the workshop. It's all in how deep you want to mod it. Once you start though it becomes like an addiction.

Workshop is an ass in comparison to Nexus client and site, dont even bother with it.

If you haven't downloaded any mod manager I would recommend Mod Organizer. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/?

It doesn't install any mods in to Skyrim's Data folder so your Skyrim installation remains clean. You also don't have to fear overwriting files because all mods install into their own folders. You can even install mods straight from Nexus just like you would with Nexus Mod Manager.

I today tried to use NMM but got got so frustrated with all NPC texture mods not working/ overwriting each other and causing seams. Mod Organizer is pretty much hassle free, unless you're going to install mods using FNIS, as in you're going to take posing pictures or something.

I second this, it's a little bit more work but hey once you get past the hurdles Mod Organizer is brilliant.

Hey guys, just out of curiosity, is there a mod that allows you to add shadow marks to your player-owned houses? I need one for reasons. Found one on Steam but it doesn't look like it's been updated in like a year and a half and doesn't include Hearthfire.

Holy crap that samurai armor.

This is crazy, downloading right now.
This would go well with the armor.

Its a one hand idle, but you can also use it for 2 Handed weapons.

My weather mod and preset is up. May run like crap so be prepared to turn some things down/off if you demand 60fps. Of course it won't look the same in that case.

This is probably the best looking ENB I've used. I like that mountains don't have that distracting fog but the fog also hid some of the z-fighting the mountains have in this game.

There probably isn't any mod to fix the z-fighting, it's so annoying. New Vegas had that problem too.

I'm sure this has been posted many times already, but if it hasn't. This download fixed my game. I am replaying Skyrim again with Requiem/Frostfall/Realistic Needs and Diseases(amongst another 120+ mods) and was crashing about every 25 mins. or so. After I installed this, I hadn't crashed in over 2 hours. I'm unsure as to how it worked, but it did. It couldn't have come at a better time as I was getting super frustrated with my game. I had installed and re-installed Skyrim with the mods I wanted 4 time in the last week and was about to just call it. Hope it helps someone.

I seriously can't get the proper resolution of character shadows. Anybody know what I need to do? I've already tinkered with the shadow setting in skyrimprefs.ini, but they don't seem to help at all.

This is with 4096 shadowresolution:

ENB will fix this with default ini settings. Otherwise i don't know what you could do.

Here is a pic of the ENB I've been messing around with (using the latest binary). I'm not an expert at this, just messing around with it.

Only ENB can help, but very little. Skyrim shadows engine is literally fucked up.

So I'm trying Confidence Man's ENB out, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've disabled all my weather and lighting mods (CoT, ELFX, Realistic Lighting, etc.) and I am using the 246 ENB along with the ENB all-in-one particle patch, the ENBHelper, and of course the accompanying Natural Lighting .esp.

But I end up with these flickering graphics:

Anybody know what to do? Thanks in advance.

Did you set these variables to 1? From ENBdev site:

This version require helper mod to run per weather setups (if not used, then ignore helper mod), download it from link in readme.
bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 must be set in SkyrimPrefs.ini file to make this mod work. Start SkyrimLauncher.exe to configure your video options again.
Sky lighting to work correctly require rendering objects to shadow, so edit manually following lines in file SkyrimPrefs.ini:
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
bShadowsOnGrass=1

Has anyone found a fix for the issue with voices cutting out when you're moving around yet? I found a page on the Nexus taht says it has a fix, but naturally, the Nexus is down.

So BOSS suddenly isn't recognizing Skyrim.

Ninja, didn't you have this issue a while back? Any idea what's going on? The only thing that changed between today and yesterday (when it worked fine) is that I uninstalled a couple mods and reinstalled a couple others.

Edit: And like that it recognizes it again. What the what. I literally did nothing.

Speaking of BOSS, the master list will not be updated for a while because they are changing its format. Whatever that means!

Can someone do me a favor and upload the immersive patrols mod? Nexus has been up and down too often and it seems that whenever I'm able to check it I'm at work and when I get home it seems to be down. I'm particularly looking for Immersive Patrols and Immersive Patrols requiem patch. I'd really really really appreciate it. It's literally the last mod I want to add to have a perfect play-through for me.

edit: and just like that. Nexus seems to work for me and I am downloading it now.

Re: Confidence Man ENB
The red coloring in the loading screens seems to occur during dusk and dawn.
You can set ENB to ignore loading screens.

On the topic of Confidence Man's ENB settings, I've used them a bit now and they're amazing. Only glitch I've encountered so far is image-based lighting producing excessive blue highlights on certain wet rocks, will probably break out nifskope on the weekend and see if I can isolate the cause.

I've been reading about SkSe being able to "clean" out inactive and not working scripts. Does anyone know how I'd do this? Requiem is being an asshole(more than normal) and the author told me to check Papryus logs and I can't seem to find a straightforward guide on how I'd check it. I'd like to clean old scripts(if possible) and know how to check Papryus logs. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

It's still not working for me. I have to manually update my loadorder.txt and plugin.txt every time I let it run.

Crossposted from the other thread. Here are the basic fixes that (imo) everyone playing on PC should be using:

- Enboost - Use this even if you're not using ENB for graphics. If you are using ENB for graphics, make sure you're using the more recent DLLs which contain the memory fixes and that your settings in enblocal.ini are configured correctly.

- Stable uGrids - requires SKSE

- Add the following line to your SKSE.ini (located in Skyrim/Data/SKSE, create one with notepad if it's not there to begin with) under [GENERAL]. This will help with saves where you have been upgrading or uninstalling mods.
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

- The fix that this thread is about. This version allows you to configure the size of the memory blocks, stick with the default unless you know what you're doing.

- Safety Load is another SKSE plugin, it may be redundant with the above fix.

Released 2 days ago, go update it from V6........It's double the size with 10 times the amount of content.

Sweet Jesus that's a lot of content, and I thought the previous versions were already pretty good.

I know this is a very silly question but are there any mods out there that improve the hideous hit detection? And I suppose by extension, the combat? Even just a harder difficulty mod would suffice to get me back into the game but the rubbish animations and combat keep putting me off.

There is TK hitstop but its probably not what you want, that's the only one I know that's sort of a hit detection thingoe.
BTW it sucks.

Complete crafting overhaul remade looks fantastic as well, its already got a skyre compat patch as well as various others. Might work straight out ta the gates with other overhauls like SPERG and ACE, don't know about Requiem though since I haven't tried it yet.

This is a simple mod that adds metal spark when you hit anything that isn't a person or a tree.

It's set to ignore loading screens by default. I'm assuming the enbhelper.dll is in place?

Bird can you show me a pic of where/what time of day you see the blue highlights?

Coming back to this, I think I just figured it out. I'd renamed my SKSE launcher to 'TESV' so I could launch SKSE from the Skyrim Steam shortcut. I just undid that, and lo and behold, BOSS did its job.

Renamed my SKSE launcher to 'SkyrimLauncher', now I can just launch the game without the launcher and still get BOSS to sort stuff.

You can use BOSS User List Manager(BUM) to add mods into your user list automatically. It's not the easiest program to use and I've only messed around with it for about 10 minutes, but it might be worth a check. It prevents you from having to sort your unrecognised mods, over and over. You can find it on the Nexus, which is currently down so I can't link it, but when it's up just search for it.

As for papyrus you have to add enablepapyruslogging=1 to your Skyrimprefs.ini file. There's more lines that you can add to help it out, but I'm at work and don't have access to my .ini to copy and paste it. The instructions might be on the STEP website, I know a forum post on the nexus that I normally link to, but the Nexus is being a bastard.

As for the memory patch, use the one linked above, not only is it stable out of the box with 512/256, but if you change it to 768/512 magical things start happening. Glory to the man who compiled and uploaded that for us lazy sods.

What "magical things" ?

Good ones or bad ones ?

Thanks, I'll be sure to try some of those out once I have a capable rig again.

Good ones, so far, don't want to curse it but many of the things I tried that would crash me repeatedly don't anymore. A stable, heavily modified, Skyrim is a wondrous thing. If that has been achieved here, it is nothing short of magical.

I'm looking for a specific kind of mod. Very similar to the Deadly Monsters plug-in from Deadly Dragons, but more specific. For example I'd like to boost the stats of Dwemer Centurians but not Spiders, bears but not skeevers. Is there a mod similar to Deadly Monsters that lets you alter the stats of individual enemy types as opposed to larger archetypes like "humanoids", "creatures", or "undead'?

TK hitstop didn't work out for me, either. Whenever I was fighting outside I'd get a bug where each "hitstop" would take a whole second, sometimes several seconds instead of a fraction of a second. That was on default settings. Not sure what mod it was conflicting with.

That's normal for TK hitstop...there is a way to shorten it somehow.

I've been using the new memory fix that was just released and over at reddit a poster released bigger version of it, your standard 256mb one, 768mb one and a experimental 1g version. I'm using the 1g version and it increased my FPS by a whole heap. You also have to edit your skse.INI file and add memblock1=512
Memblock2=256

Underneath
[NotPlacebo]
GiveFirstBornToSheson=1

Don't think I'm going to attemp that, I need my 660 to last me at least until Fall. :lol

I have no idea what's going on. I installed a mod that gets rid of the overly bright CoT snow, and suddenly the game became a lot more unstable. Crashed twice in the overworld, then a lot more when I entered a ruin. It ultimately crashed when I brushed against one of those skeleton noise making thingies, so I decided to get rid of the mod. Game still crashed when I brushed against the trap again. So it's not the mod... But something is causing it.

Weird. And annoying.

What FPS are alot of you able to achieve with a heavily modded/ENB skyrim? Currently playing around with tons of mod's using Phinix ENB and going through a few stress tests and it's driving me crazy. Play on 1440p, gtx780, i5 2500k @4.5, and even after turning off all my HI res texture's, I still slam into my 3GB VRAM limit, 45 second initial load times, random .2 second pauses which cause my VRAM to crash down to 1800-2200 ( seems like my pc cant handle to load pop in textures), FPS range from 35-60.

Haven't noticed a thing using the new memory patch...

3570k @ 4.5, sli titans @ 1440p between 30 and 60 fps, 120 mods, ugrids @ 7 and a whole heap of textures and Confidence Man's enb.

60 (with the occasional dip), no ENB, around 180 mods.

And my game started crashing when I quicksaved, and ultimately didn't even want to load that specific quicksave. I've had this issue before, so I just followed the same guide I did then. Not sure if that fixed it, I'll find out when I have some more time to play later.
