Starfield designer says procedural generation stopped it from reaching the “calibre” of Fallout and Elder Scrolls

My god…Really? Fallout 4 failed miserably at those too…Building? Redundant, served zero gameplay reason, added nothing to the experience and had no mechanics or roleplaying attached to it. Loot? Awful, just trash or shitty guns with awful 'Legendary' effects…Exploration? Ehhhhhh its decent but pointless given how poor everything else…Nah Bethesdas problems run deep, from the very foundations, and the dumbfuck devs making excuses need a harsh wakeup call.

Settlements add a lot to the experience on Survival difficulty, and that's the only way I play this game. By looting, I mean collecting junk to get components for building and upgrading gear, not getting amazing weapon drops like in Borderlands. Exploration is absolutely top-notch, and Fallout 4's map is easily one of the best-designed in all of gaming.

Kill, loot, build. That's the gameplay loop of Fallout 4. It's not for everyone.

New Vegas is still better.

No it doesnt, it takes away from Survival mode by giving you super easy access to food and water…
I will concede actually that collecting junk for components for weapon crafting is fine, and that system is definitely good.
But Fallout 4's map being one of the best in gaming? Ehhhh, its got good world building and yes its chill to just get immersed but my gawd there is nothing to *find or do*…Which loops back round to awful quest design etc.
For what it is, its fine I guess. Far Harbor is superior in every way to the base game though, now that is a great map.

Food and water are a non-issue in every 3D Fallout.

In Survival mode, a network of settlements gives you safe places to sleep, which is the only way to save the game. It also gives you access to all your crafting materials from anywhere on the map, since you can't fast travel. Not to mention access to things like workbenches to craft antibiotics or getting rads away with Decontamination Arch. It just makes settlements more useful and gives them real utility, which is a good thing.

The ship designer is about the only semi interesting, albeit pointless thing in the game.
It's just a catastrophically bad, piece of shit game right the way through.

I am really bewildered to wtf Bethesda is doing past Skyrim - they use the same rubbish engine for every single of their games. And Starfield has the most generic designs ever. What was the money spent on?

I enjoyed the game, but it would have been so much better had it been released as it is now with all the QoL improvements.
