I don't remember anyone dating when I was in 4th grade and I know that sort of thing at least doesn't happen in the area I'm from. Romanticized is an appt description.

Dating in fourth grade was more like...here's a bracelet with your name engraved on it. Lets kiss at recess and not use any tongue. Lets end it after like two weeks and never speak of it again.

So, I'm really impressed. This top 10 isn't close to my personal list, but that being said, I genuinely like every show on it. Gargoyles HAD to die for that to be a true statement, and it's departure makes the bitter pill of losing Superman much easier to swallow. That being said...

Kill: DBZ
Kill: Batman Beyond

DBZ is clearly the weak link here. It still has much of the imagination that made Dragonball a classic, but the pacing is a damn shame. In my opinion, it's the only deeply flawed show left.

Batman Beyond is fantastic, but just a hair behind the rest due to some consistency issues throughout.

Back in my day, kids dated each other in first grade. Seriously, this was actually a thing.

It was all this though. Middle school was completely different from this.

Even that didn't happen. It probably did in 5th, but I only started caring in 6th. I remember it happening in 2nd, but not 3rd or 4th.

Kill: Rugrats
Kill: DBZ

Loved DBZ. I grew up watching it in the 90s, but it has always been utter shit when it comes to the writing. Toriyama is just not a good writer.

Rugrats - I would have killed this off long ago but it has gotten mostly ignored until now.

Save: TBD

I had a bunch of GF's in elementary school but yeah, there was never a romantic element to it.

None of them had what Brooke Burke, the girls interviewed on Howard Stern, and the girls in the Girls Gone Wild commercials had. That is to say, I was already onto busty wenches by the time I left elementary school. The girls in school had noooothhhinngggg I wanted.

Only one gets voted off each round from here on out, I believe. DBZ''s time is coming

DBZ is the only show I ever sprinted home from a bus stop to watch, traded VHS tapes with people that had recorded it, etc, but I don't see it making top 5. There are three or four shows I'd like to see go before it, but Top 10 is reflective of the fact that it was a huge cultural tent pole of the 90's already. If we can do Rugrats and then Batman Beyond (or in the opposite order), I'll be content.

Kill Hey Arnold
Kill Rugrats
Save DBZ
Remember, only one save until the final three: use it wisely.

lol I remember at eight or nine noticing "boobies" at the beach.

Humbug, there is no need to save your save votes. There is still plenty in the store.

One save to use in seven rounds and whatever show you're saving might need the help in a later round.

Better to save it, unless there are literally no other shows you'd like to see advance, or you see an opportunity to really make it count.

I actually loved DBZ - up until after the Cell saga. But admittedly I was team Superman and sadly it's obvious people are going to gun for it, and
Hey Arnold
, until it's eliminated. So my assumption is both of them getting voted off before top 5.

I could be totally wrong on this, but I remember Goku beating Frieza and then a season break happening right after that. I waited and waited, and when it came back on I was so excited to find out what had happened to Goku, only to find that it was the got'damn Garlic JR saga and that Goku wouldn't show up again for a lonnnngggg time.

That's all 00's of course (everything after Frieza is) but yeah, that was the first time it had kind of disappointed. The Androids were okay, but then Cell showed up and...eh. Eh. I actually did like Great Saiyaman (I'm a rare breed) after that, but then they introduced the greater kai's and....eh again.

the best part post-frieza were the z-fighters (shit name) all joining in on gohan's one-handed kamehameha. it really felt like the end of the series.

and then it kept going

I guarantee, there is plenty save votes to go around. Go nuts people.

The worst part about DBZ was running home from school expecting an awesome new episode, turning on the TV and seeing Raditz's fucking ship fall to earth.

That crushed dreams like nothing else in cartoon history.

I think it would have been cool if he had stuck to his original idea and kept Gohan as the main protagonist. It felt more....I don't know...mmm...

It felt like the cycle had completed. The little boy from Dragon Ball grew up and had a little boy of his own, saved the galaxy, and then his little boy grew up and took over as the protector of the Earth.

It just wasn't meant to be I guess.

I dated for three years in elementary school, but we'd kiss and our parents would take us places together and we'd play video games and that was it. It was about as platonic as things get.

Kill: Batman: The Animated Series

this is the man you people sided with.

because this was far less interesting, these are the shows with only ten saves. the number in parentheses is the highest number of saves that show received when that number was ten or more. the shows bolded are currently in the top ten.

Reboot 82 (18 saves)
Courage the Cowardly Dog 45 (11 saves)
Ren & Stimpy 45 (18 saves)

Tiny Toons 13
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 12
Eek! The Cat 12
Tale Spin 11
Rugrats 10

haha, Superman was actually killed before the top 10. I was so sure it was going to be DBZ and Rugrats, I suspect some last minute editing shenanigans were involved :)

kill: DBZ - liked it as kid, grew out of it
kill: Rugrats - never actually enjoyed this show, should have been killed a long time ago

The Weekenders 20 kills (20 kills)

this is why Superman had to die

I will never understand all those Arnold votes. The only things I can conjure up is people didn't know about it and voted to kill it, or they did it in spite of something or someone.

kill: rugrats
kill: animaniacs

Looks like everyone is going to save their saves for the last two or three rounds haha

it's just the same 5-6 people doing it every time. dicer tries killing it every day and then laments when batman beyond gets to the top ten even though he did nothing about it.

I think we only have our 1 save up until the final 3.

Yeah, for sure dicer put a ton of kill votes on it. Everytime I saw him I had to kill the show he was trying to save then i'd save Hey Arnold! just to rub it in. haha...

Please keep this stuff up. Pretty interesting stats showing the most hated and most loved. Would like to see this at the end.

i think it also falls into a weird area of it being a kids show about kids... and usually those weren't very compelling. i know a lot of people who swear by recess, and by all accounts, it seems to be a good show. i never watched a whole lot of it though, so my outsiders perspective is that it's a fairly simple show that had characters fitting into clean archetypal roles, similar to doug or even rugrats. this impression is probably not correct, because again, i haven't actually seen a lot of the show. but if someone had taken a glance at hey arnold, it probably looks shallow and childish when it's anything but.

as an example, doug walker (the nostalgia critic) did an episode on nicktoons. to prepare for his review of hey arnold, he watched 'downtown as fruits.' that was it. it's not a bad episode, but it's hardly representative of the show as a whole, and does fit into what an outsider might expect of a kids show (oh they're dressed as fruits and they're downtown... how zany). but there are far, far more that better showcase the music, writing, art, and acting.

the next couple of rounds are going to be fairly predictable

10. Rugrats
9. DBZ
8. Batman Beyond
|
2. Batman TAS
1. Simpsons

there's a lot of batman beyond/rugrats kills right now that will become batman beyond/dbz kills next round. i think you're right.

batman beyond really hasn't been challenged this whole contest, but it also doesn't have much of a support group either. i get the feeling the same is true of animaniacs and dexter's lab. meanwhile, powerpuff girls, hey arnold, and rocko's modern life all have a decent fanbase.

Even though I happen to like that episode allot - being the fist episode seems like an unfair episode to review, given that the show hasn't hit its stride yet.

I see your point about not really watching a tv show, but a few episodes, and not much caring about it. That's fair, but, it would be really odd to be indifferent about a show than actively try to kill it. I can't really justify, either, hating a kids show for it to be seemingly childish. But, anyway Arnold really has some solid life lessons and virtues in their episode albeit the plot, or just what you had to infer. I like to think of it as the "Boy Meets World" or cartoons.

Kill: Powerpuff Girls
Kill: Rugrats.

Save: Batman Beyond.

I refuse to accept PPG as a top 5 show.

Batman Beyond was better on every single level. For that matter so was Gargoyles, DarkWing Duck and The Tick.

Mission Accomplished

Kill: Animaniacs
Kill: Batman: The Animated Series

Didn't watch much of either show as a kid. TAS is probably better than Beyond, but the latter I watched much more.
!

Good luck with that.
Kill: Dragonball Z
Kill: Rugrats

I think it's pretty obvious now why I want DBZ gone. I hate the art of Rugrats, too creepy.
