Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

Pic of the day. Rosalina's down special move, tentatively called the Gravitational Pull, sucks up items and weapons. Weapons will be disabled when using this move, of course. You have to shake the Wii Remote to perform this move in Super Mario Galaxy, but you won't need to do that in this game.

I got legit scared for a second when I read "shake the Wii Remote", but now I'm glad that isn't the case!

Can you imagine the meltdowns if you did?

Ok ok good. I'm actually curious about the official explanation of this.

Are Mondays unofficially becoming "Explain Rosalina's moveset" days?

...hey, we actually did get confirmation of its status as her Down-B. Neat!

Interesting that the comment says that you had to shake the Wiimote in Galaxy when it was more just using the pointer. Although the move does have a lot of resemblance in function to the Star Spin proper, so...

More and more characters are getting reflector/absorption type moves...

I hope Fox and Falco's shine properties stay unique to them. It's so satisfying shinespiking characters and using it to slow down your fallspeed.

Anyone want gifs?

Okay I gotta admit, that's pretty cool. Hope the roster's balanced. Marth's tech work needs some work. From the looks of this, Rosalina looks like a hard counter to Snake, Diddy Kong, and other spacing characters.

Any explanation as to why the Luma colors are changed? Are they randomized? Do they indicate how much damage is taken? Can you change their color depending on the move?

They could be randomized, but based on trailer footage and pics we really don't know the answers yet. Maybe he'll explain it...next Monday :P

Well it's about sleep time.

I'm really looking forward to how Rosalina plays and how she is as a character.

What I really want to know are her matchups and if she's a niche counter like Yoshi.

I can already see people counterpicking Rosalina and the meltdowns of Diddy Kong and Snake players after their bananas and grenades are rendered useless.

Rosalina is starting to come off as OP now that this move has been explained. I like it, but assymetric teaming with a combat Luma and item/weapon negation and attraction are making her seem untouchable now haha
