Dancing is the worst. It's just flailing.

It's awful.

Especially when people try to force you to dance. That's fucking awful.

Go into Psycholinguistics. There's a lot of interesting questions to be solved still. In particular I'd love to study language comprehension and processing.
Thinking about getting a minor in classics so i can say i'm a classically trained psycho linguist. *Evil laughter*

That is quite fascinating, I've attempted to learn a language with some success, though I haven't used it in a while and forgot a lot. But the process of speaking another language has always been interesting to me.

Most of the psychology students at my university I have dealt with are dealing with the brain with alzheimer's and other diseases. Though I might be getting them confused with the biologists that I know.

Ah, second language acquisition and why it's so hard for adults to do proficiently is a big linguistics question, nearly everyone i meet studies "X and second language acquisition". If you don't use it you absolutely will lose it, and it's easier for some people. Keep at it, being bilingual has been shown to slow the rate of mental degeneration with age.

Edit:

Actually depending on what specifically they're studying with alzheimer's and other stuff, could be either or.

The Business of Art Museum Management
Introduction to Business Law
Mathematical Modeling for Business Applications
Art and Civilization of the Islamic World
and a French class :/ which I'm considering dropping.

*_* I really wanted to take this "Art in New York" class but after how last semester went, I think I'm just going to stick to whatever's required right now.
Ahh, bummed that in my Art History Class last semester we didn't get to cover Islamic Art.

It wasn't deemed necessary, but it would've been nice to explore if we had the time.

Man you guys are not gonna get to the 20k limit are you.

Just adding a contribution. Don't think I have much to say except it's really hot today

We have to exchange schedules!

My schedule is loaded with humanities courses which is weird considering I'm a Statistics major. And I'm oddly disappointed that I have no Comp Sci classes this semester. I didn't expect to like it so much.

That seems like even more of a reason to get back at it!

I am part of this program that involves chemistry (me!), biology, and psychology majors that helps us prepare for grad school, and we all had to do summer research. And they all presented the findings one after the other, so everybody's research got blended in my head lol. Too bad nobody does my favorite branch of chemistry (inorganic) which is probably why I kinda glossed over it. I also hate biology with a passion which was a large percentage of the research

Okay. Here's the Charizard video. I don't even know why I stayed up to make this, it's so dumb :lol

Charizard X gon' give it to ya

The long arm of copyright law has come down quite heavily on that video :(

Totally is, plus, chicks (or gender of your preference) love when you whisper sweet nothings to them in a foreign language.

That's interesting! Going to grad school, huh? where are you wanting to get in?

So my professor looks like marrec

omg omg omg omg, google him and send me a pic. I must see.

Say wahhhhhhhh? It's still playing for me. Unless you mean it's going to get taken down. Cuz then ;_;

Wait. Friend just told me it's been blocked. NOOOOOOOOOOO

So my professor looks like marrec

I had a prof that looked like the lead singer from a power metal band. Long straight jet black hair, ripped jeans, tight t-shirts, questionable facial hair. When we went to visit him in his office there were several mostly-depleted bottles of spirits on the wall, alongside a viking helmet and C++ textbooks.

Such a great guy, lol.

Netboi have you heard of iTAL tEK at all?
The kind of stuff that makes you go

Fuck nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I really hate copyright on youtube. I think it has to do with DMX. Assholeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I was just thinking today that a girl knowing another language is quite... nice. Though I should be able to reciprocate!

Thinking of staying in state and going to Vanderbilt, but if that doesn't work out going to one of the UC schools or the University of Illinois would be cool. Also going back to where I was born (Massachusetts!) would be nice, so like Harvard or M.I.T. but those are loooongshots and aren't at the top of my list. Though I will probably look for to add to my list over the summer/senior year. And take the GRE. :(

But one thing I realized is that above all else it is nice being a minority because most places like will go out of their way to attract well-qualified ones. :)

My husband was raised with two languages. I have a feeling that it makes a big difference in being able to learn a new one. Now he understands and speaks 6 languages, learned a few of them as an adult too. I´m always a bit amazed on how easy he learns that stuff. I barely understand two :S

X gon give to yah, he gonna give it to ya, X gon give it to yah he gonna give it to yah

First he gonna BLOCK
Then he gonna CONTROL
Then he gonna b LIKE, PAY UP FUCKING HO

Vanderbilt has a nice hospital, and I only know that because that's where my husband passed away. You'll definitely want to add a few more, i think, and i've heard taking the GRE over the summer is best, 'cause you a lot more time to study for it.

There's a theory running around that the more languages you learn, the easier it is to learn even more. You should work on learning your second better! I seriously can't stress learning at least one other language enough.

Edit: what a great thing to have at the top of the page :/

Man, John Reese is possibly now my favourite TV protagonist.

Biggest badass. And hilarious.

He is quite awesome. Him and Finch make such an amazing (and humorous) team.

How far are you into the show now?

Good grief that sucks :(.

Vandy does have quite a lot of cool research going on and the hospital does have specialists in disease that I have. Not that I have seen them or anything lol, I have just gotten used to it.

But I will add more universities to my list. Luckily, I got a GRE prep book at home and I will hopefully have a GRE summer prep session that should get me fully ready for the test.

Yea sounds like it might be the place for you! Nashville is a cute town. You'll have to tell me how the GRE is, I'm totally afraid to take it, lol.

This thread's going too slow to make the goal.

Let's step it up.

"What's the strangest/most inappropriately timed comment you've made?"

For me, there's a few.
In a meeting full of people
Sales guy: "Sorry it's taken a while for us to get back to you. Our CEO was recently trampled by an elephant while he was on vacation in Africa."
Me: "I didn't know elephants used your product."

I've also said, "Mike Wazowski!" to my wife after sex (our son was obsessed with Monster's Inc. for a period of time)

I was arguing with a freind because he said he wouldn't set me up with his cousin (not that I wanted to be set up with his cousin, I was just mock hurt he wouldn't consider it).
"Man, that's such bullshit. I would set you up with one of my cousins if you asked. In fact I have a cousin I know is single becase her fiance died in a hit and run recently". Apparently that makes me a "horrible person".

Then there's the time after I bought Deus Ex: Human Revolution when I said "man, I wish I had bionic legs so I could run home to play this faster". Probably not the best thing to say since the guy selling me the game only had one leg.

Then there's the ones I can't repeat because they're too awful.

Just finished the 3rd episode of series 2, on the one with the Irish mob now.

The only thing that'd make this better is if it were more heavily serialised, but eh. I'll take it.

The series does get more serialized as it goes along, nothing like Walking Dead levels, but it has more interconnected stories that create a richer mythology.
In my opinion at least

I thoroughly hate standardized tests. It seems so irrelevant with the questions that they ask. But when I took a practice test I didn't do to poorly, so there's that.

Also do you plan on staying in Pennsylvania for grad school?

Yeah, so I've heard. I'll be happy if it becomes like The Shield, where it's still got a lot of procedural elements but the serialised parts take priority.
But better than The Shield.

EDIT: OH SHIT COOL LESTER SMOOTH

The questions seem really weird and tricky, had a friend fixin' to take it last semester and she had a practice book.

I'd like to, we have a house and stuff here, I like Pitt. But...who knows what the future will hold.
