Shacknews PlayStation-related exclusive story tomorrow

That got me thinking... Microsoft announces Gears purchase, so what does Sony do? Announce an exclusive partnership with Epic for their next-gen fps franchise the next day. Probably won't happen especially the next day, but the fallout here would be fun to watch.

Am I crazy for thinking Sony is broke and we should stop thinking exciting thoughts like this? I'm sorry for the negativity but at this point it sure feels that way

Shacknews isn't a very large media outlet (or at least I don't perceive it to be).

I'm starting to think this will be some sort of feature article, something akin to IGN's History of Naughty Dog/SSM piece.

Just because they got a debt downgrade dosen't mean we won't get exclusiives or playstation is going away. take that shit to gamefaqs

When I reread the tweet, the wording seems to imply the above to me.

Actually, Sony buying out Gamefly, or announcing a partnership with Gamefly wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. PSNow fundamentally changes the rental market for Gamefly, but they don't seem too spooked. Maybe there's a reason for it.

For those saying its a Vita game, that was a joke response on Twitter from Andrew to someone else. Notice he said "my game"

People thinking there's a game waiting to be announced are really setting themselves up for disappointment. Studios don't announce games through game media outlets, come on.

Most likely an exclusive preview into a PS4 game that's light on info so far.

Yeah I hope you're right. It's not just the credit downgrade though. It's the way they released a ton of games on the PS3 the same year they're releasing a new console. Behavior like that suggests a company that doesn't the resources their competition (MS) does.

The Order?

Or maybe Driveclub.

I don't get it .

Do you think they make those games for free or something ?

The comment in brackets is related to the question about the 'Cat' game. If It's the Crash acquisition Gaf will explode tomorrow.

No of course not but it tells me that they can't afford to release those games on a newer platform with a smaller install base

Edit: anyways I don't wanna be a downer. I love my PS4 and I'm excited for this generation. Just tired of seeing the competition try to dictate the market with money.

I don't get your point. They released all of those games for the PS3 and still announced more PS3 and PS4 exclusives for this year than MS. I hear this talk of Microsoft's "war chest" but they aren't doing anything with it. The last 4 years were barren on the 360. I'd expect a steady flow of exclusives this year considering how they stopped supporting the 360 awhile ago. Where's the investment in 1st party studios so they can have a good amount of games coming along with multiplats?

There's no "lack of resources" excuse for Microsoft.

One of 3 things.

1. Epic exclusive game(unlikely this would be revealed here, unless they want to do a nelson haha to Microsoft)

2. Playstation Now beta(highly likely and what I believe it to be)

3. New firmware(they don't really announce these through external media sites.)

They released Spyro: Year of the Dragon, Wild ARMS 2, Hot Shots Golf 2, Medievil 2, Legend of Dragoon, Cool Boarders '01 and a bunch of the yearly sports games at the time in 2000, which was the same year they released the PS2. That's just how Sony has always operated with their consoles. They try to support them even when they're releasing a new console.

The Sony corporation isnt as broke as people seem to think. If im reading the qtr report right as of Sept 30 they had 7.4 billion in cash. So if something is to be had to help the gaming section long term they have money to make moves
