This guy is still kicking and screaming again about another successor and apparently its always personal. He's mediocre at best and never really pushed the envelope at all on late night. Good riddance to him soon.

“I always tell new people in show business, ‘Look, show business pays you a lot of money because eventually you’re going to get screwed. And when you get screwed, you will have this pile of money off to the side….That’s the way it works,’” Leno told Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes Sunday night.

To Leno’s mind, “getting screwed” is what is – once again — happening to him. In the 15-minute interview, Leno was simultaneously defensive — like when he explained for the umpteenth time he had nothing to do with Conan O’Brien’s 2010 Tonight Show departure — and resigned to the next chapter, like when he explained that, at 64, he simply doesn’t have his finger on some of the “social” aspects successor Jimmy Fallon does. “I see him do a dance number with Justin Timberlake and I think, ‘Well, I can’t do that.’” (He also copped to not knowing the latest Justin Bieber single — which more than a few people would actually count as a positive.)

I'd say it was personal, dude had the ratings on lock yet he's always getting shitted on. Regardless of what I feel about his comedy, the guy didn't deserve what he got.

He seems to have been really good to Fallon. I don't think Jimmy could complain about anything Jay has done to him.

Guy is still the biggest ratings winner. Yeah, he may suck (and I prefer Dave), but it is what it is.

And what exactly did he say about Fallon in this interview that warranted your reaction?

Pretty sure the regular audience for the tonight show doesn't give a shit about Justin Beiber or Justin Timberlake. The Tonight Show was to the 1950s what Colbert is for today's crowd. If they think Fallon is going to win over the Silver Agers while remaining relevant with the Twitter crowd, NBC is over-extending...again.

Leno came out as awful during the Conan switch-a-roo, but after reading the books, listening to podcasts and watching a lot of interviews since then he doesn't come across as a bad guy, more of a tragic figure that NEEDS to perform and sees it as the most important aspect of his life.

I'm not going to watch the Tonight Show after Leno's gone. Real talk.

I would've been fine if Conan took over, but I don't care for Jimmy Fallon.

Jesus . . . I hate it when multi-zillionaires whine about "getting screwed". FFS, shut up.

You've had a great run . . . don't expect sympathy when they decide to let the younger kids play in the sandbox.

I agree. Jimmy Fallon has never appealed to me aside from his interviews with Stern. I hope he's successful but he won't get a view out of me.

Who watches Jay? I don't know any in my demographic who ever had--Male 27-35--regularly.

It is mostly old people?

Get what? Millions of dollars.

To be fair, I blame Zuckerburg for the Conan fiasco. Jay, however, just doesn't seem to care about the fraternity of comics. He's always been a loner like that.

I think this is the interview I saw. The guy had so many backhanded comments, especially about Conan. The guy is a real passive aggressive dick bag.

Gonna get screwed??? He's been making great money for a long ass time, he's basically been there forever.

Exactly what I was thinking when he made that comment... the fuck was he talking about? The buy is a billionaire and has been in show-business forever.

Forgot what mod said it but when Fallon takes over he really is going to have to step up his opening monologue. Only dude on late night show that has bad execution

Yeah, I felt really bad for him as the camera followed him through his gigantic garage filled with priceless exotic vehicles because, deep down, show business just leaves you empty deep inside your soul, and no amount of luxurious furnishings or decadently luxurious food can fill that void.

Holy shit, in the video clip in the article, Jay Leno praises the crap out of Fallon.

He called him "a young Johnny". Come on, people.

Conan's my favorite host but he seems like a bigger asshole than Jay. Whether it's Conan's comedy style, how Conan treats his underlings, or how he handled the half-hour pushback, etc. But the comedy world is pretty goddamn petty especially when it comes to Leno vs Letterman

I ask this question about any late nite show (except for The Daily Show and Colbert Report)

Just hope Leno can get "Jay's Garage" a TV show.

He should replace the comedian on Top Gear USA

I thought I was the only one, Jimmy Fallon has always annoyed the crap out of me since I first saw him on Saturday Night Live.

I don't always watch late night TV, but when I do, I prefer Jay Leno.

How can you wear that avatar and yet prefer Leno over Conan? That sort of high-concept sketch would never in a million years air on Leno's show, and would be a good fit on Conan's show
if the word nigger was permissible on TV.

Nah would rather have Jay do a serious car show instead.

Is anyone actually reading the interview? He's not whining, and even says shit like this isn't worth complaining about when you've got millions in the bank. He's only being "screwed" insofar as he's being forced - for the second time - to leave a job despite being hugely successful at it. He also says Fallon is like a young Carson, which doesn't exactly say "kicking and screaming about another successor."

I'm hardly in Leno's camp, but the piling-on in this thread borders on ignorance.

I like Jimmy, but in a medium of shills, he's the biggest one. The guy will kiss the ass of anyone on the show, and pimps every product like his life depends on it. His soulless eyes, smile, and laughter will jump to promote or advertise ANYTHING.

But that's such bullshit. Jay as a very nice and friendly guy to us, his audience, when he's out in public at local car meets and stuff. But he's legendary for his machinations and manipulative tactics behind the scenes in his profession. This is actually the third time this stuff has happened - the first being the war between himself and Letterman over the Tonight Show. He's not fooling anyone with his "aw shucks" act any more, not when it comes to getting paid.

Definitely not the only one. I find him almost unbearable and completely unfunny. Obviously, you'll have a few times where I actually find him funny, but most of the time... nope.

I'll take Kimmel or Conan, thanks.

Thank God there's YouTube then.

I watched the interview on TV. He comes off as sort of complaining while trying to seem like he is not complaining. The interviewer also mentioned how Leno said similar things about Conan, Leno's face was pretty priceless at that moment.

Exactly. He's done this sort of passive-aggressive thing three times now, with Letterman, Conan and now Fallon.

It's painful watching him, a self proclaimed "Gamer", trying to play the games he's been paid to advertise.
